Chapter 393: First Victory

Just as he was about to smash my head with the mace, I whispered,

"Boom."

The mace stopped before reaching my head. Soren’s legs began trembling, and his balance faltered. He barely managed to keep himself from falling to the ground.

Golden lightning danced around his entire body, and blood leaked from the corner of his lips.

"Wh-what did you do to me?" he asked, confusion and nervousness etched across his face.

I pulled my sword from the floor and moved past him toward the helm that had fallen on the other side.

Wearing the helm again, I spoke, my voice echoing deep within it, "Do you think your mortal body can absorb the golden lightning of the Sovereign class?"

My question contained the answer within itself. His explosion attribute allowed him to charge his body like a bomb by absorbing the attributes and Soulforce of his opponents. Once fully charged, he could release all the absorbed Soulforce in a devastating blast.

From the moment our spar began, he had been absorbing my Soulforce from the Sword Aura, charging his body and making himself stronger with each attack. With the last attack, he could no longer contain the energy and released it all at once.

Although he managed to absorb my Soulforce, he could not absorb the Sovereign lightning laced within the attacks. It continued gathering inside his body, which I sensed using the Eyes of the Fallen. Since the lightning belonged to me, I could still exert some control over it even after my Soulforce had been absorbed from it.

"I wonder what will happen if I use Divine Soulforce to attack him," I thought inwardly as I moved toward him, lightning flickering around my blade.

By the time I put my helm back on and reached Soren, the lightning had already taken its full effect on him.

Several of his blood vessels had burst, and blood was flowing from his body. The only thing keeping him from screaming in agony was his pride.

Unleashing Sword Aura onto the blade, I swung it in a horizontal slash toward his neck.

This time, instead of letting the blade strike him, he blocked the attack with his mace.

"I will not be defeated by someone obviously weaker than me," he shouted, jolting the sword back.

He extended his arms outward with a roar and forced the lightning out of his body.

The violent method left several wounds across his skin, but he managed to free himself from my shackles.

Ignoring the pain, he unleashed a barrage of overwhelming mace attacks upon me. I responded with equal intensity, dodging and counterattacking with whatever strength my injured body could muster.

Now that his body had returned to normal, his physical stats were similar to mine, so he could no longer overpower me as before.

My skill with weapons and my battle experience were still superior to his. Whenever my blade reached his vital points, he had no choice but to absorb the energy from my Sword Aura.

However, unlike before, he instantly expelled the lightning from his body, absorbing only the Soulforce.

The method was painful, causing his wounds to rupture again and again, but absorbing the Soulforce was helping him gain the upper hand against me.

From the clash of our weapons, I could clearly understand his thoughts.

"I will kill him before this body gives out," he was thinking.

Slowly, I began to be pushed back, all the muscles in my arm shaking with each heavy attack I blocked with my blade.

With a final strike at my hand, the sword was forced out of my grip and thrown into the air.

"Die!!!"

Soren shouted, swinging his mace at a terrifying speed across my temple.

Slash!

Blood splattered, and a heavy thud echoed, followed by Soren’s painful, guttural scream.

"Aghhhh!!! My arm!!!!!"

His severed arm, along with the mace it had been holding, lay on the floor, while in my hand a spear of golden lightning vaporised the blood from its tip.

From the moment he began his mace attacks upon me, I had been slowly materialising this divine spear in my other hand behind my back. Being too focused on the advantage he believed he had over me, he overlooked the energy gathering behind my back.

"Hmm, so you truly cannot absorb the Divine Soulforce," I said, slicing through his knee joints with a swing of the spear.

He fell to his knees as his legs gave out, yet instead of fear, his face carried pure fury and hatred toward me.

"I will not go down alone!" he roared, his body turning crimson again as he used his own Soulforce to blow himself up.

Before he could detonate, I swung my blade with a sudden jolt, and his head rolled to the floor. His headless body erupted like a volcano, blood bursting from the severed neck.

The lightning spear in my hand crumbled to pieces and vanished. I would have already fallen unconscious from exhaustion, but my Sea of Soulforce began moving violently, keeping me awake.

My Soulforce surged, my body glowed with a golden aura, and suddenly a gust of energy burst outward from my body.

Ding...

"Congratulations! The Host has successfully broken through! The Host’s level has increased.

Level One Transcendent Realm → Level Two Transcendent Realm.

All stats +50."

Thanks to the breakthrough, all of my injuries healed, and my body returned to peak condition.

The dark space where I had been fighting Soren slowly faded, revealing the walls of the fortress.

Pools of blood reached my feet from the thousands of bodies lying across the fortress. Pieces of flesh, internal organs, and bones still covered with flesh filled the air with the sickening metallic stench of death. The sight was gruesome enough to make a grown man faint at a mere glance.

At the broken wall of the castle, Vyaghra, completely covered in blood, was fighting against countless enemy soldiers who were trying to enter the fortress.

Yet none of them managed to move past him.

He had been standing there like an absolute wall, ensuring that my duel with Soren was not disturbed.

There was only one way to stop this battle now. I grabbed the severed head of Soren and climbed into the air, forming small spiderwebs of lightning beneath my feet.

Upon reaching high in the sky, I declared in a booming voice,

"Your commander, Soren Ironvale, is dead! House Ironvale has lost. Drop your weapons and surrender!"
