Return of the Mythic Bloodline-Chapter 392: Explosion Attribute
"Vyaghra, I need your help," I murmured in a low voice.
The moment I said those words, my shadow began shifting, and from within it Vyaghra emerged, wearing his usual black robe.
The soldiers flinched upon seeing this unknown man emerging from the shadows. Soren’s eyebrows furrowed in annoyance as he couldn’t sense the level of this dual-haired man.
"How do you know I had my shadow attached to you?" Vyaghra asked, ignoring the enemies surrounding us.
"Just a guess," I shrugged.
Well, although I couldn’t sense the shadow he had attached to me, I was confident in Ume’s concern for me. I had told Vyaghra to protect my army from the shadows and act only when necessary, but I knew he must have received a similar order from Ume to protect me whenever necessary.
Vyaghra shook his head at my vague answer and asked, pointing at Soren in disgust, "Do you want me to kill that mortal?"
Soren instinctively tightened the grip around his mace, breaking into a sweat under the predatory gaze of Vyaghra.
"No, I will take him down myself. Take care of the rest," I said, moving forward.
"Understood," Vyaghra replied.
In an instant, the shadow at my feet stretched outward in all directions, enclosing me and Soren inside a dark space before he could even react.
I couldn’t sense the other soldiers around me anymore. It was as if the two of us had been teleported to a completely different dimension. The space was dark, with nothing visible except the opponent standing before me.
"What is this place?" Soren demanded, his earlier smugness gone.
"Your grave," I replied in a calm tone, activating Sword Aura on my blade.
Now that I was facing the commander of Ironvale, there was no point in holding back. Once I took him down, we would achieve our first victory in this war.
"Whatever it is, I’m sure I will return once I smash your head!" Soren declared, his body turning metallic black again.
Both of us slowly moved forward, our eyes locked on each other. Soren was the first to make a move, swinging his massive mace toward my head.
I bent backward and, just as his mace passed my head, I swung my blade upward, aiming for his arm.
Tang!
The blade struck his arm, but surprisingly it didn’t even make a scratch, even though it was laced with Sword Aura.
"Surprised?" Soren mocked, launching a punch at my guts with his free arm.
A loud metallic vibration echoed as his fist struck the armour I was wearing. The force bent me forward, and he instantly slammed my back with the mace, taking advantage of the opening.
The attack crashed me to the ground, yet Soren did not stop for a moment, launching a barrage of mace strikes one after another.
"I will make sure to claim this armour after I smash your head," Soren declared between the strikes.
I rolled across the ground, dodging most of the attacks and blocking a few with my blade before finally pushing myself back to a standing position.
The two of us continued to clash for an hour. During the fight, I struck his vital points countless times with my blade, yet none of them had any effect on him even though my blade was laced with Sword Aura. On the contrary, he was slowly getting stronger after each fatal strike I landed on him.
Meanwhile, my body was in shambles from the blunt force of his mace attacks.
"Your attacks are useless, Dark Knight," Soren chuckled, seeing me breathing heavily. "My body is indestructible. You cannot harm me."
Taking a deep breath, I cancelled the Sword Aura and activated Eyes of the Fallen again.
"Oh, so have you finally given up—"
Before he could complete his sentence, I bolted toward him using Blink, a sphere of golden lightning materialising around my fist.
"Lightning Bolt: Version Galactic Punch!"
Blinding light erupted in the otherwise dark space as my fist slammed into him.
"I told you already. Your pathetic attacks will not work on me," Soren muttered, holding my fist, completely unscathed.
With his other hand, he struck my helm with the mace, sending me rolling across the ground. The impact tore the helm off my head, revealing my blood-covered face as it flew away, crashing to the other side.
"So this is how it is," I murmured, wiping the blood from my lips as I rose again to standing position.
I grabbed the sword, laced it with Sword Aura again, and deactivated Eyes of the Fallen.
"Haha, so you really are that Taranis who arrogantly declared war on the Azure Sun Empire," Soren laughed, recognising my face from the reflection in the sky.
"You are pathetically weak for someone known as the God of Lightning and Thu—"
"Sword of the Thunderbane: Chapter 3
Qilin’s Judgement!"
With a swing of my sword, a golden lightning figure of the mythical Qilin surged forward from my blade, its bare fangs striking toward Soren.
Instead of dodging or blocking the attack, he met the Qilin head-on, grabbing its fangs with both hands.
"Aaaghhhhh!"
Soren’s scream echoed through the empty space, the veins on his arms bulging as he stopped the Qilin in its path.
Slowly, the body of the Qilin began to shrink before completely dissipating, while Soren’s body turned amber from black like heated metal.
"So he is really absorbing my Soulforce to make himself stronger," I murmured, preparing to attack again.
Just as I was about to unleash another strike, he suddenly vanished from his position in a blur, his speed faster than ever.
The next moment, he was already attacking me, his spiked mace just inches away from my face.
I responded instantly, barely blocking the mace with my sword. However, the strength behind it was intense enough to hurl me into the air.
While I was still mid-air, his body turned from amber to crimson, and an ear-deafening explosion of the same scale as the cannonball he had released occurred.
Once the light vanished, his skin returned to normal, and he walked toward me with a smirk.
I stood opposite him, leaning on my sword and gasping raggedly. At the last moment of the explosion, I managed to shield my face with my arms, but I still couldn’t protect myself completely. My already injured joints were now barely holding.
"You know Madam Doom, the cannon that I attacked you with," Soren said, descending his mace toward my head. "It’s a weapon inspired by my Explosion attribute."
Just as the mace was about to smash my head, I whispered,
"Boom."
