Return of the Immortal Emperor Daddy-Chapter 92: The Man Like a Ghost God
"Are you sure you won’t let me answer the phone?" Wu Tian asked with a smile.
The middle-aged policeman felt a bit uneasy seeing Wu Tian still so composed, but thinking of Wang Wei’s promise, he barked, "That’s right. You cannot answer the phone."
Wu Tian nodded, a playful smile touching the corners of his mouth. Xiao Liang isn’t one for idle chat; he must be calling about something important. Can a small police station truly withstand a governor’s wrath when the time comes? Wu Tian was eager to find out.
"Then let’s go," Wu Tian said, laughing.
The fact that Wu Tian could still laugh at a time like this startled many in the Logistics Department, including Li Muge.
Lin Fa, however, simply smiled. A mere police station is nothing compared to the Nalan Family. My boss crippled Nalan Feng, left him blind, and to this day the Nalan Family doesn’t dare to make a move. And this police station? It’s destined for humiliation. With that thought, Lin Fa calmly returned to his book.
As the middle-aged policeman led Wu Tian away, the young officer beside him frowned. "Deputy Director Hao, I feel like something is wrong here. He’s so composed, like he has an ace up his sleeve. Are we being too rash? Shouldn’t we investigate this kid’s background first?"
"No need," the middle-aged policeman, whose surname was Hao and given name was Ming, said flatly. Wang Wei had promised that if Hao Ming helped him just this once, the reward would be one hundred million. Wang Wei’s request was to cripple Wu Tian.
Naturally, Hao Ming had agreed. Even if Wu Tian had some unsavory relationship with the President of Qin Corporation, he felt it was a gamble worth taking. He had already considered Wu Tian’s calm facade. It must be because of his connection to Qin Corporation, right? Hao Ming knew he couldn’t afford to offend Qin Corporation. However, for a hundred million, he had to do it. The consequences, while severe, were a price he figured he could afford to pay.
「In the center of Yang City, at the First Police Station.」
The police car finally arrived.
"You’re driving this police car too fast," Wu Tian said to the driver just before he got out. "In three days, you might hit and kill someone."
"Don’t talk nonsense!" Hao Ming barked. The driver was his nephew, Hao Ma, the sole heir of the Hao Family. If he really killed someone in a police car, what would become of our family?
"Don’t believe me? Then forget it," Wu Tian said, stretching lazily. He had been resting for the entire car ride.
"He’s definitely talking nonsense."
"Just putting on an act."
The police who accompanied Hao Ming were his confidants, and they all despised Wu Tian for two reasons. First, if they taught Wu Tian a lesson, Hao Ming would receive one hundred million from Wang Wei, and they would all get a hefty cut. Second, this case was different. Although they were no strangers to this kind of work, they were now going up against someone connected to Qin Corporation. They had only managed to go through with it after mustering their courage. They had been on edge the entire way, yet this scoundrel Wu Tian had slept peacefully through it all. The thought made them grind their teeth in frustration.
Wu Tian paid their attitudes no mind. Trouble was always finding him, and he figured it was time to make an example of someone.
"Heh, let’s see if you’re still this calm later." Most people panicked at least a little when brought to a police station, but Hao Ming couldn’t find a single trace of fear or panic in Wu Tian’s eyes. This vexed him. With a cold chuckle, he ordered his men, "Zhang San, Li Si, take him to the detention cell. I’m going to go create his file before I interrogate him."
"Yes, Deputy Director."
At Hao Ming’s command, two young policemen, one fat and one thin, stepped forward.
Watching their gait, Wu Tian simply smiled at the two of them.
The two officers froze. Did this guy figure something out? No, he can’t possibly know.
Zhang San and Li Si led Wu Tian away. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Seeing Wu Tian’s unconcerned attitude, as if he were just taking a stroll through the station, Hao Ma got out of the car and complained to Hao Ming, "Uncle, just looking at this kid makes me angry."
"Don’t worry," Hao Ming said with an air of complete confidence. "Your uncle has everything arranged. I have people waiting for him in the detention cell, ready to beat him half to death first."
Hearing this, Hao Ma’s face lit up with admiration. He nodded and said, "Uncle, you had it all prepared in advance! Hahaha, Wang Wei said this kid was tough to handle, but when he runs into you, he’s just like the Monkey King before The Buddha."
The other police officers nodded in agreement.
"The Deputy Director is amazing."
"Yeah, if I could be half as capable as the Deputy Director in my lifetime, I’d die a happy man."
"That’s right."
Meanwhile, Wu Tian had been brought to the detention cell. Before going in, he smiled at his escorts. "You two have the skills of a King of Soldiers. You’re not ordinary policemen."
Zhang San and Li Si paused.
After studying their faces, Wu Tian smiled again. "But you’re both public servants, aren’t you? By the way, you have a recording pen, don’t you?"
Zhang San and Li Si were shocked, feeling as if he had seen right through them. Zhang San hesitated, but Li Si replied, "No."
"Then go and get one," Wu Tian said.
Li Si nodded.
As the detention cell door opened, Li Si suddenly warned, "Be careful. The people inside aren’t normal."
Wu Tian just smiled and said nothing as he walked straight in. He had braved dragon pools and tiger dens before; this little cell was hardly worth mentioning.
Once Wu Tian was inside, Zhang San and Li Si closed the door.
"This guy is no simple character," Li Si said gravely.
"Yeah. So you’re actually going to get a recording pen?" Zhang San asked.
Li Si nodded and lowered his voice. "What are we here for? To find evidence of Hao Ming’s crimes, of course. Maybe this guy will be our big break."
「Inside the detention cell.」
Five men were already waiting. The moment Wu Tian entered, they all stood up. They were all tall, brawny men with fierce expressions on their faces as they moved toward him in unison.
The leader, whose face was a ruin of knife scars, stepped forward. "We’ve been waiting for you."
"Waiting for me for what?" Wu Tian asked, not the least bit tense, an amused smile playing on his lips. I’ve heard of situations like this, but I never thought it would happen to me.
"We’re going to ruin your reputation."
"That’s right. Take off your pants."
"..."
Wu Tian was slightly surprised. What they have in mind is different from what I expected... and far more outrageous.
"You all deserve to die." As he came to his senses, a murderous aura erupted from him. His eyes turned icy, as if he were the Death God himself. That single gaze was enough to stun all five brawny men into immobility.
"Now, you’d best listen to me, or else..." Wu Tian threw a punch. He struck nothing but air, yet the scarred leader, standing three meters away, was hit by the sheer force of it. He reeled as if struck by a train. The sound of his bones snapping one after another echoed through the cell. Finally, his hefty body was flung backward, smashing into the wall.
"Do any of you have a way to contact the people outside?" Wu Tian said coldly. "If not, the four of you can forget about leaving here alive."
The remaining four thugs trembled with fear. This guy... he isn’t human!
"I do, I do!" one of them stammered, his voice trembling.
"Tell them the matter has been handled, then call Hao Ming and Hao Ma in here," Wu Tian instructed. "We’re going to apply the principle of ’Return Unto Others.’ I’m sure you know what to do."
