Chapter 82: Chapter 82 Frying Squid

"Wei Zhongxian?"

Upon hearing the name, Lin Fa and Liang Qingren nodded simultaneously. "Of course we know who he is."

"His reputation is terrible, so why was he able to control the Imperial Court and hold on to power for so long?"

At Wu Tian’s prompting, Lin Fa slapped his forehead in a flash of understanding. "Right! How could I not have thought of this? Business and politics should be connected. Actually, resolving this matter is quite simple." He looked at Wu Tian with delight. "Boss, you’re amazing. A single casual remark from you helped me understand the whole issue."

Liang Qingren also nodded. Did Wu Tian mention Wei Zhongxian casually, or was it intentional? Could it be that he has achievements in business as well? On reflection, she found the idea unrealistic. He’s so young and already an Innate master; he must have spent a great deal of time on that. Where would he find the extra time to study business or learn finance?

Wu Tian, however, was indifferent to Liang Qingren’s thoughts and quietly ate his meal. After lunch, they still had some time left on their break, so he and Lin Fa returned to the logistics department, planning to take a short rest at their desks or perhaps even a nap.

But when Wu Tian returned, he found his seat was already taken. Nangong Yi was sitting there, surrounded by his infatuated fans from the logistics department. The girls gazed at Nangong Yi admiringly as he talked about some of the plans he had made in the past. He was currently discussing his successful international collaboration with Xia Qian.

Just then, Bing Hong asked a question. "Suppose there’s a factory whose owner has a terrible reputation and its performance is declining. What should be done?"

This was the same question Lin Fa had asked earlier. Hearing it, Nangong Yi frowned. "You have to keep up appearances, no matter what. If the reputation is truly beyond saving, the factory is basically doomed to fail."

"So you’re saying it can only end in failure?"

"No, let me think about it," Nangong Yi said, sitting in Wu Tian’s chair. Of course, he had already noticed Wu Tian’s arrival. He put on an apologetic expression and said, "Hey, buddy, just stand there for a bit. Let me figure out a solution first, and then we’ll talk."

I can’t fight him physically because I’d lose, Nangong Yi thought. So it has to be a battle of wits. I’ll show him that when it comes to business acumen, he’s no match for me. Seeing that Wu Tian had returned, Nangong Yi remained seated, waiting to see what he would do. Without glancing at Wu Tian again, he continued enthusiastically, "This problem is indeed tough. I think we first need to find out who ruined the owner’s reputation. We have to get to the root of the problem, as they say."

Quite a few people gathered around to see how Nangong Yi would solve the problem. But the female employees weren’t all fools. One of them frowned and asked, "But what if the person’s reputation is already terrible? What if it’s not just one person speaking ill of him, but everyone thinks that way?"

The other female employees nodded in agreement.

Nangong Yi’s brows furrowed slightly. "Then let me think some more."

Just then, the company bell rang, signaling the end of the lunch break. Wu Tian stood to the side, his face expressionless. Nangong Yi won’t be able to solve this. He’s fallen into a logical trap. He’s so desperate to show off his business talent in front of me, but the solution to this problem doesn’t lie in the marketplace; it requires a different approach.

Wu Tian spoke up. "Alright, everyone back to your posts. It’s time to work. Let’s end this discussion here for now."

Nangong Yi was displeased. "Can’t you see I’m in the middle of solving this problem for everyone? The Kuangte Family might even use this as a test question. For everyone’s sake, for the company’s sake, just stand aside for a while."

Some of the female employees were his die-hard fans, but not all. The woman who had voiced her doubt earlier spoke up again. "Director Nangong Yi, you could take all afternoon and still not solve this problem. Are you going to make our chief stand aside all afternoon?"

Seeing that one of his own fans was actually speaking up for Wu Tian, Nangong Yi grew even more displeased. He turned to Wu Tian. "Stand aside and learn something. Maybe it’ll improve your business acumen a little. Do you really think the Kuangte Family’s test questions will be exactly the same as what you’ve read in your books? I’m telling you, that’s impossible."

Wu Tian smiled. "Nangong Yi, you’re an ant. Normally, I tolerate you crawling around in my sight, but I never gave you permission to crawl onto my foot."

"What did you say?" Nangong Yi trembled when he heard those words, a bad premonition washing over him. But before he could react, Wu Tian shot out a hand, grabbed him by the collar, and threw him. Like a rubber ball, Nangong Yi flew more than ten meters down the hallway and slammed into the wall.

"ARGH!"

Nangong Yi hit the wall and passed out. Everyone was stunned, their mouths agape in disbelief.

Bing Hong glared at Wu Tian furiously. "Do you have any idea how powerful Nangong Yi is?"

"Oh?" Wu Tian smiled. "He’s that powerful? How come I didn’t know?"

"Do you know Nalan Feng?" Bing Hong snorted. "Nalan Feng is incredibly powerful, right? Yet Nangong Yi was the one who blinded him! And the Nalan Family didn’t dare to cause any trouble for him at all. Now do you see how amazing he is?"

Wu Tian looked at Bing Hong as if she were an idiot. Lin Fa came over at that moment.

"Lin Fa, what is wrong with your chief?" Bing Hong demanded. "We were in the middle of asking Nangong Yi for help, and your chief just knocked him out! What are we supposed to do now?"

Lin Fa’s brows furrowed slightly.

Wu Tian said nonchalantly, "Lin Fa, you know the answer to this question, don’t you?"

Prompted by Wu Tian, Lin Fa had a flash of insight. He turned to the female employees and said, "I know how to handle this. I can create a plan for it—one that is ingeniously conceived and takes an unconventional approach."

Bing Hong said with dissatisfaction, "Even Nangong Yi didn’t know the answer. Lin Fa, how could you possibly know?"

Lin Fa just chuckled. In Bing Hong’s eyes, I’ll never compare to Nangong Yi. He wasn’t angry; his heart was already dead to the matter. He turned to the other female employees. "For this question, we shouldn’t be thinking about the marketplace, but the political arena. Since ancient times, government and business have been intertwined—this era is no exception. Therefore, we should..."

As Lin Fa explained, everyone’s eyes lit up. They couldn’t help but give him a second look, surprised that the deputy chief of logistics had such capabilities.

Even Bing Hong laughed in astonishment. "Lin Fa, I never would have guessed. Did you have a sudden epiphany or something?"

Lin Fa ignored Bing Hong.

Wu Tian, however, did have something to say. "As the chief of the logistics department, I’m preparing to fire some people."
