Chapter 69: Chapter 69: The Tomboy and the Little Princess

"How could this be?" Qin Yuhan’s pretty face was filled with utter astonishment.

"What’s wrong, Mommy?" The little one wore a bewildered expression.

"Go look in the mirror," Qin Yuhan said.

"Oh."

The little one scampered over to the mirror. When she saw that the injury on her forehead was completely gone and she was still a charming, adorable little princess, her eyes widened in amusement. I knew Crawly healed me. In my heart, Crawly is invincible, magical... he’s my god.

She immediately scampered back onto the bed and planted a slobbery kiss on Wu Tian’s cheek with a loud SMACK.

Wu Tian sat up, his face covered in saliva, but he was happy. If this had happened in the past, Wu Tian would have found it incomprehensible. How could anyone be happy about someone smearing saliva on their face? But after having a child...

"What on earth is going on?" Qin Yuhan’s beautiful eyes turned icy cold, locking onto Wu Tian like a hunter.

"I don’t know." Wu Tian knew his wife was suspicious of him. But so what? There’s no way I’m admitting it. You don’t really think your husband is Superman, do you?

"I haven’t been able to track your whereabouts for four years. Dad said your Medical Technique was very good, so does that mean..." Qin Yuhan seemed to have pieced together the entire truth.

Wu Tian was surprised. It’s not that hard to guess. Anyone who reads novels could combine those two facts and figure it out...

"...so, you stumbled into a pyramid scheme related to medicine, is that it?"

"Yes!" Wu Tian said. I never expected my wife’s imagination to be so... wild.

Today, Wu Tian had taken the day off, and Qin Yuhan had done the same to accompany their little one to the children’s singing competition. The venue was the Yang City Gymnasium, which had been specially decorated to create a vibrant, musical atmosphere.

When the little one first arrived, she was very nervous. However, as soon as she started hearing the other children sing, her nervousness faded.

"Baby, have you thought about what you want to sing?" Qin Yuhan asked.

"Mhm," the little one nodded. "It’s a really nice song."

"So what are you actually going to sing?" Qin Yuhan’s curiosity was piqued.

"It’s a secret."

The little one just shook her head, refusing to say. On stage at that moment was Wang Tian, singing "Can’t Help But Love You."

"That one time you promised to come but didn’t, I cried like a child."

When Wang Tian sang this line, all the parents in the audience began to laugh. It was indeed odd for such a young child to be singing this song.

"Who dares to laugh?" On stage, Wang Tian got angry because of the laughter and couldn’t continue singing.

"That’s right! Who dares to laugh at my son?" A towering man stood up from his seat and shouted angrily.

Instantly, the crowd fell silent. Who didn’t recognize Wang Wei, the Family Head of the Wang Family?

Seeing the silence, Wang Wei smiled with satisfaction and yelled to Wang Tian on the stage, "Son, keep singing! Dad believes in you. The championship is definitely yours!"

"Right." Wang Tian’s spirits lifted at his father’s words. Dad said the championship is mine, so it must be!

The judges frowned slightly but said nothing. The other parents, however, shook their heads. Wang Tian’s singing wasn’t good at all. It was just chaotic shouting. How could he possibly win the championship?

After finishing his song, Wang Tian walked off the stage. Spotting the little one, he shot her a provocative smile before returning to Wang Wei and Qiu Yanyan’s side.

"This is no way to raise a child," Qiu Yanyan said. "If you keep this up, he’ll grow up to be nothing but a good-for-nothing."

"Nonsense," Wang Wei disagreed. "My Wang Family is rich and powerful in Yang City. When my son grows up and inherits everything I have, who would dare say a bad word about him?"

"Dad’s right," Wang Tian chuckled.

Qiu Yanyan sighed.

"Next up is contestant number 131! Who is contestant number 131?" a host in an animal costume called out as he walked onto the stage.

The little one finally had her turn.

"Hello, teachers, and everyone. I’m ready," the little one said, managing to suppress her nervousness after taking several deep breaths.

"Alright, since you’re ready, you can start singing," the host said, yielding the stage.

Colorful lights flashed as a melody began to fill the gymnasium.

"I’m going to sing ’Hero Song’ for everyone. Thank you," the little one announced, standing quietly in the center of the stage as the music swelled.

"’Hero Song’?" Down in the audience, Qin Yuhan was stunned.

"..." Even Wu Tian was unsettled.

On stage, the little one finally began to sing.

"The great river flows eastward,

The stars above align with the Big Dipper."

A backing track immediately kicked in: "HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! Align with the Big Dipper!"

"For sworn brothers, a bowl of wine!"

The little one then belted out the next lines:

"When we say go, we go!

You have it, I have it, we all have it!"

The entire venue fell silent. First, the little one was undeniably adorable. Second, her voice was truly ethereal. Third, nobody had expected such a cute little girl to sing a song like this. My god, it was absolutely shocking.

"It seems my daughter is destined to be a tomboy," Wu Tian said with a helpless sigh.

"No, she can’t be," Qin Yuhan said, shaking her head firmly. "I will turn her back into a little princess."

Wu Tian nodded. Whether she was a tomboy or a little princess, he didn’t care as long as she was healthy and happy.

Among the judges, a female teacher murmured after hearing the song, "This little girl’s voice is genuinely beautiful."

"Yes."

"I think so, too."

"I feel this child has the potential to be a star. I hope she sticks with it," the other judges added their praises one after another.

However, one of the judges shook his head. "But don’t you all forget the phone call we received from the Wang Family last night."

"..."

At these words, all the judges’ brows furrowed, and they fell into an unhappy silence. With the Wang Family’s power and influence, getting their contact information had been all too easy. Wang Wei wanted them to unanimously declare Wang Tian the champion. If they agreed, the Wang Family would help them establish their own kindergartens. If they refused, the Wang Family would see to it that they lost their jobs. But the little girl’s voice was so beautiful.

"When it’s time to act, you act!

Blazing a trail through Jiuzhou!"

As the song hit its climax, the little one tilted her head back slightly and belted out the line. The beauty of her voice stunned every parent in the gymnasium. Even some of the other children thought it sounded wonderful.

"Champion!"

"That’s right, this little girl should be the champion!"

"Champion!"

After a few seconds of silence, the quiet hall erupted with the loudest cheers from parents and children alike. This put the judges in a very difficult position. Wang Wei had told them to cheat, but the masses weren’t blind, and they certainly weren’t deaf.

What are we going to do?
