Chapter 35: Chapter 35 Mortal Realm’s Delicacies

Qin Zhengyang went to the bathroom while Wu Tian headed to the kitchen.

At the same time, Xia Yumeng also got up. She felt uncomfortable if she didn’t have a drink immediately after waking, so she went to the kitchen. When she arrived, she found some ingredients laid out in front of Wu Tian.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

"Can’t you tell?" Wu Tian chuckled. "Mushroom and beef congee."

With that, Wu Tian picked up a kitchen knife. In the next moment, the blade fell.

Xia Yumeng saw only a flash of silver. For a moment, it seemed like nothing had happened. The beef in front of Wu Tian looked completely unchanged.

But Wu Tian’s movements didn’t stop. He no longer looked like a chef but rather a conductor leading an orchestra. His right hand rose and fell rhythmically, the silver gleam of the blade flashing in and out of sight.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Xia Yumeng asked, dumbfounded.

"Just watch," Wu Tian said, his knife a continuous blur of motion.

Looking closer, Xia Yumeng realized the seemingly intact beef had already been cut. The incisions were so fine they were practically invisible. Moreover, every single piece of beef was the exact same size.

"This..." After this discovery, Xia Yumeng found it impossible to look away.

My god, is this the kind of knife work they show in gourmet anime? How can someone’s skill be this incredible? To her, Wu Tian looked less like he was cutting meat and more like an artist at work.

"Xia Yumeng, three bell peppers."

"Uh..." Xia Yumeng finally snapped back to reality. "Okay."

"Two mushrooms!"

"Okay."

"Half a chicken breast."

"Okay."

Without realizing it, Xia Yumeng found herself following his orders. Before long, the mushroom and beef congee was ready. She had watched the entire process, and seeing the finished dish filled her with delight.

I really want to try it.

"Want some?" Wu Tian asked, turning to look at Xia Yumeng.

She nodded eagerly. The mere aroma of the congee was intoxicating.

"Mm-hmm."

"Then have some," Wu Tian said with a smile. Back in the Immortal Emperor Realm, he had spent some time as a chef. As far as cooking was concerned, Wu Tian figured his skills were at least on par with a Five-Star chef’s.

In a pristine white bowl, neatly cut pieces of beef and mushroom swam in the congee. The rice itself was cooked to translucent perfection, boasting a beautiful color and a rich fragrance. A single glance was enough to make one’s appetite soar.

Hearing Wu Tian’s permission, Xia Yumeng couldn’t resist any longer and immediately took a taste. Her ladylike sips quickly turned into voracious gulps, and in a matter of moments, the bowl of congee was empty.

"It’s so delicious!" Xia Yumeng’s eyes sparkled. "How can it be this good?"

"What’s delicious? Are you talking about the congee I made?" Qin Zhengyang had returned and entered the kitchen.

"No, I meant Wu... no, Brother-in-law! The congee Brother-in-law made is amazing!"

A single bowl of congee was all it took for Xia Yumeng to acknowledge Wu Tian as her brother-in-law.

"What?" Qin Zhengyang couldn’t believe it and felt a surge of annoyance. He also loved making congee, but in all these years, he had never once heard Xia Yumeng call it ’delicious’.

"It’s true! Try it if you don’t believe me," Xia Yumeng said.

Qin Zhengyang nodded and ladled some congee into a bowl for himself. He took his first sip. The moment the broth, translucent rice grains, and tender beef chunks entered his mouth, an incredibly rich flavor exploded on his palate.

Incredible! This is absolutely incredible!

Qin Zhengyang had been to countless restaurants and tasted numerous delicacies, but he never imagined that this simple congee would redefine his understanding of what true deliciousness was.

"So, do you believe me now?" Xia Yumeng asked.

Qin Zhengyang simply nodded, hurriedly getting himself a second bowl.

"Me too!" Xia Yumeng scrambled to get more as well.

"I want some! I want some! I want some!"

Attracted by the aroma, the little one crawled over. Seeing her, Wu Tian quickly picked her up.

"Okay, Daddy will get you some, alright?"

"Okay." The little one nodded, her big, adorable eyes wide with anticipation.

"What are you all doing?" Qin Yuhan had come downstairs, puzzled to find the entire family gathered in the kitchen.

"Sister, Brother-in-law’s congee is amazing!" Xia Yumeng said immediately.

Brother-in-law? Has my own sister betrayed me now, too? Qin Yuhan scoffed inwardly. She chuckled aloud, "You don’t have a brother-in-law."

"But Yuhan," Qin Zhengyang couldn’t help but say, "Tian’s congee truly is a delicacy of the Mortal Realm."

Qin Yuhan was speechless. "Dad, aren’t you exaggerating? You’ve eaten plenty of good food over the years. It’s just a simple bowl of congee..."

Before Qin Yuhan could finish, Wu Tian, who was about to give the little one a spoonful, changed direction and deftly put it in Qin Yuhan’s mouth instead.

"Mmph!" Qin Yuhan couldn’t react in time as a mouthful of congee was slipped past her lips.

The spoonful contained a piece of beef and a small slice of mushroom. The moment it touched her tongue, the flavor washed over her like a delicious broth, causing her beautiful eyes to fly wide open.

"Delicious!" escaped her lips before she could stop it.

The sensation was cool, refreshing, and sublime, like taking a dip in a swimming pool on a hot summer day.

This feels... blissful. The thought came to her unexpectedly.

"How is it?" Wu Tian asked with a smile.

"It’s..." Qin Yuhan could only manage, "It’s alright, I guess."

"Just alright?" Wu Tian chuckled.

Qin Yuhan turned her head away and fell silent. She knew she wasn’t being honest. While she had tasted many delicacies in her life, she had never had congee this good. She was just too proud to admit it.

Qin Zhengyang, however, was becoming more and more impressed with his son-in-law. If even his cooking skills were this remarkable, what else was Wu Tian capable of? He couldn’t wait to find out.

Wanting to help Wu Tian, Qin Zhengyang turned to Xia Yumeng. "Since your sister doesn’t like it, why don’t we finish the rest of the pot?"

"Okay!" Xia Yumeng said, nodding as she caught his meaning.

"Me, me, me!" the little one squeaked, raising her little hand to join in.

Immediately, Qin Zhengyang and Xia Yumeng began to eat with gusto. The little one patted Wu Tian’s shoulder, urging him to feed her faster. In a flash, only a small amount of congee remained in the large pot.

Qin Yuhan could finally stand it no longer. "Wait! Leave some for me!"

Wu Tian laughed. So there is a way to handle this wife of mine after all.

Suddenly, Wu Tian felt the Nine Dragon Ring on his finger grow warm.
