Relentless Pursuit After Divorce-Chapter 1933: Summer Hall Side Story (135)
Olivia still didn’t realize there was anything wrong with what she’d said.
After her jealousy passed, she told herself that there are no such coincidences in this world.
Her parents had spent years searching for those two things and couldn’t find them, yet Harry Hall found them in just a few days?
The more she thought about it, the more she felt her suspicion was justified, so when she saw Charles Smith and Evelyn Taylor’s expressions turn cold, she assumed they were angry that the couple had given them fake goods.
Thinking this, she chuckled and looked at Helen Melendy, saying:
"Little sister, our parents don’t need your gifts. They’re happy you came to see them. But giving them fake goods just to appear proud is one thing—aren’t you treating our parents like fools? Dad has seen countless treasures; can’t he tell the real from the fake?"
"Shut up!"
Evelyn Taylor’s fierce shout startled Olivia, forcing her to swallow the rest of her words.
She looked at Evelyn’s iron-gray face in fear and realized she’d spoken wrongly again, feeling panic inside.
At the same time, she regretted not being able to control her mouth.
She thought how hard it was to stay, and how jealousy had clouded her mind, wishing she could have just kept her mouth shut.
"Mom, I... I was just worried my sister and brother-in-law might have been deceived, so I was trying to warn them. I wasn’t... I wasn’t doubting they gave fake goods."
Evelyn laughed, her eyes cold as she looked at Olivia and said:
"Do you think I am senile and have forgotten what you just said?"
Olivia pursed her lips, her hands trembling slightly.
Didn’t she just accuse Helen Melendy of vanity, directly implying she was giving fake goods?
Claiming now that she was only warning about deception—isn’t that contradictory?
Olivia’s face paled a few shades.
"Olivia, I let you stay with the Smith Family because of thirty years of kinship, but kinship is one thing; we have no obligation to let you remain. If you’re always bent on stirring trouble, then you should leave the Smith Family right now."
Evelyn originally felt some motherly affection towards Olivia, but stepping back from the relationship, she realized Olivia had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
Not to mention, she lacked the basic decency of being a person.
Regardless of whether the gifts are real or fake, and regardless of the couple’s true identities,
how can she, with this kind of manners, immediately assume upon a guest’s arrival that their gifts are fake? How did such upbringing produce this daughter?
"In the end, you’re not our biological daughter, and this ingrained nature can’t be changed even if you’re brought up as a rich heiress for decades."
Evelyn’s words were strong enough, making Olivia’s face flush red.
She instinctively looked for Thomas Smith, hoping to find someone to defend her.
She then remembered he had returned to New Horse with Edward Smith, likely on their way back but not yet arrived.
Compared to Evelyn’s fury, Charles Smith was less intense, merely letting out a cold laugh and saying:
"Or do you think that I, Charles Smith, am blind enough that I can’t tell real from fake?"
Olivia shook her head frantically, knowing that in the absence of Thomas Smith, she was at a great disadvantage.
"No... no, Dad, that’s not what I meant, I..."
