Relentless Pursuit After Divorce-Chapter 1927: Summer Hall Side Story (129)
Harry Hall didn’t know if she truly believed him or was just saying it casually, but at least she was willing to listen, and that was enough.
"I really don’t know about what you said, but I will definitely investigate thoroughly and give you an explanation, okay?"
Helen Melendy glanced at him and snorted coldly.
Angry as she might be, she was indeed trusting him.
"You say you were all lovey-dovey with other women. If I really dated you before, why didn’t I break up with you?"
She looked at him, spoke with annoyance, and the anger in her heart seemed to subside a bit.
Her question was asked offhandedly, but it suddenly reminded Harry Hall of something, and he looked up at her abruptly.
Helen Melendy felt awkward under his sudden gaze, as if she had done something guilty, feeling inexplicably weak.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
She instinctively straightened her back, making herself appear confident and assertive.
Harry Hall reached out, pulled her into his arms, bowed his head to look at her, his gaze neither fierce nor cold.
"Is this why you suddenly left a breakup text and vanished for no apparent reason?"
Helen Melendy froze in his arms after hearing him finish speaking, and a few seconds later she exclaimed, "We did break up after all!"
Harry Hall looked at her knowing expression, feeling so angry he wanted to hit someone, if the person in his arms wasn’t his wife. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"I knew I couldn’t stand a fickle man like you."
"Helen Melendy!"
Harry Hall gritted his teeth as he looked at her righteous demeanor and called her name in a deep voice.
Helen Melendy felt inexplicably guilty being called out like that, her gaze flickering, avoiding Harry Hall’s eyes.
"You... don’t bring up past issues with me, I don’t remember them now, anyway, it’s whatever you say."
Helen Melendy didn’t know what she felt guilty about, but somehow she felt that way after hearing she left him a breakup message years ago.
Harry Hall was amused by Helen Melendy’s behavior, but then he thought she had no memory of the past nine years, so there was no point in discussing it further with her.
He simply stood up from the couch, choosing to ignore her.
He needed to go out and calm down, lest he might resort to domestic violence.
Helen Melendy watched him storm out, not knowing where he was headed, she suddenly felt inexplicably remorseful.
She opened her mouth to call him back, thought about it, and swallowed the words.
About half an hour passed, and Harry Hall hadn’t returned, Helen Melendy’s confidence vanished without a trace.
She got up and walked towards the door while picking up her phone to call Harry Hall.
Just as she dialed the number, she saw Harry Hall sitting alone under a parasol in the yard, his back looking somewhat lonely.
Helen Melendy’s heart sank, filled with a sense of self-reproach.
Since she woke up with amnesia, he had told her many things about their past, but had deliberately left out the breakup part.
So she always thought they had never broken up, and hadn’t considered that there could have been such a period in between.
However, the appearance of Clarke Ainley made her realize that the clear pain inside her wasn’t imaginary, making her believe what she saw was real.
Yet she equally believed Harry Hall had never wronged her.
