Rejected Luna: Untamed Desire Of The Lycan Alpha-Chapter 415: Warning or Threat
"This is simply unreasonable," said one of the elders as he waved his hand. "Just look at him; he is talking nonsense for the sake of saving the skin of his beloved mate. A witch? The witches rising to power? I have never heard something so ridiculous as this —"
"How would you, when your own head is either buried in the sand or up your briber's arse?" Killian sneered upon hearing the man's remark. "You need your eyes to be cleared up to see the truth, but I do not see that happening with how deadly you reek of greed."
One of the elders rose to their feet. "You seem to have forgotten where you are standing. You might be the lycan heir, but you are still bound by the council—"
When the elder moved, Killian moved as well. He rose to his feet and raised his feet before kicking the chair behind him. He sent it dropping on the floor and against the pillar behind him. It shattered into pieces, and more than half of the elders clutched their pearls better than most women would have done.
Even Seth rose to his feet in a jiffy, as for one wild moment, he thought that maybe Killian was about to lose his control. With his hands resting on the railing, he was prepared to intervene at any moment. He tapped a finger, and the sigils drawn on the walls of the council interrogation room started to glow. He calmly raised his voice and said to Killian, "Alpha Sokolov, you need to stay calm in the presence of the head of the council."
However, Killian pretended to be deaf at that very moment. His eyes were staring at the elders sitting at the round table.
"She is innocent," He growled, his beast pressing against his surface dangerously. "And you know it. Just because you are determined not to accept the truth does not mean that it is not happening."
"You dare question the honesty and integrity of the council?" one of the elders questioned angrily as he slowly rose to his feet and glared at the man in front of him.
Killian simply shrugged. "I am not questioning the integrity of the council if there is any," he softly added. "I am just saying the truth. That is the only thing that I dare to do at the moment. I have provided enough evidence to show that the woman was not killed by Inez, but she was sacrificed by a witch. In fact, you and Alpha Remy should be thanking Inez."
"Thanking her?" one of the elders scoffed. "Why should we be thanking the very woman who is under suspicion of killing the luna? She is the reason—"
"For letting Alpha Remy have the corpse of his mate intact. You all have seen what I showed you in the video, right?" Killian asked without letting the elder finish, and upon hearing his question, the elders shifted in their seats uncomfortably. They had indeed seen it, but they had never addressed the video because they couldn't accept the rise of witches and had always found an excuse to prove that it never happened.
However, to this day, they haven't found an explanation for the video that Killian had sent them.
Even when they very much wanted to. They just couldn't.
"It must be AI or IA… it must be something of the sort," said another elder. She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and said in a haughty voice, "I do not accept that such a thing is plausible and that too without the council finding out. How could those witches rise to prominence to this point without us getting wind of their activities?"
Killian turned to look at the woman. He knew who she was and was not even surprised that she was standing against him. Morrineth's good friend. Helena.
He curled his lips to one side and bowed mockingly. "Of course, I forgot that the witches always submit their evil plans to the council before acting on them. How silly of me! I even forgot such a thing."
Helena's face flushed red while a few of her rivals chuckled at Killian's mocking remark.
She shot a fierce look at those elders, and once they turned silent, she sucked in a breath and calmed her anger down. "You definitely have a silver tongue, Alpha Sokolov. But I still stand by my words. The witches can never escape the eyes of the council. Even if you are not willing to accept it, it is the truth."
"So you mean to say that the magic I tracked and the things I have seen were nothing but lies?" Killian crossed his arms in front of his chest. Man. He had heard countless theories, but he had never heard one as shocking as this one.
"Of course. It's all lies. A witty act set and directed by you to protect your beloved. Because we have never seen anything like this—"
"You haven't seen it, or you have never accepted seeing it?" Killian scoffed. His lips curled up even more as he bared his teeth. "Of course, it is hard to see the sufferings of those whom you don't even consider worth looking at? Those people who were killed in the vampire attack. Were they really killed in a vampire attack? We all know that there were countless factors that didn't match, but you did not bother to even dig into the case. You shut it close because that's what you have always done. It's easier that way, isn't it?"
Helena frowned. "Alpha Sokolov."
"The witches are trying to revive the amorphous. They haven't succeeded, but they have indeed created several half-finished, unstable ones. That is the only explanation of the deaths happening in the weak packs and why so many rare and strong shifters are going missing." His gaze turned solemn as he continued, "It will be better if you accept this reality before things go out of control, or else you will end up causing another tragedy. Of course, you are free to come after Inez if you don't want to take my words to heart but—"
His voice turned deadly calm as he took a step towards the round table. "Touch her. I dare you." He scrunched his face as he spoke those words. "Just try and touch her. But if I see so much as a scratch on her, I will burn this entire place down. And I am not just threatening—I am telling you. You do not want to see the wrath of the lycan heir." He smirked and added, "There is a reason you all fear the lycans, right? Don't give me a reason to show that very factor to you."
No one moved and that brought a smile to Killian's lip. He raised his head and winked at Helena before turning on his feet and heading out of the council.
