Chapter 405: Luna Responsibilities and no respect? Nah (II)

"You need to stop worrying this much. There is nothing wrong with living on the edge." Tracy rolled her eyes as she pushed her phone back in the pockets of her jeans. "Having a little excitement stops you from getting bored. Do you think that you will have fun if you live a life like this? Anyway, there is no need to worry so much. I am practically an expert when it comes to driving now. I have been driving since your grandfather was a brat running in shorts. So you don’t need to fear anything, my dear." She spoke in a tone that made Finn grit his teeth because the way she spoke to him was like she was speaking to a child, and he didn’t like that tone. Not even the slightest bit.

Of course, Tracy knew that he hated it, but she was not going to baby him over it. She glanced at the rearview mirror and looked at the four men who were huddled in a corner as if they were worried that she would run into another car. Tracy scoffed. Humans and their fragile mentality. Did they think that she was this careless? Sure, she was an immortal, but she was not without empathy. Or was she? Hmm. She saved a kitten six hundred years ago, so certainly she wasn’t.

"Do you need to sleep?" Laxus asked. This man was so mature that it was hard to believe that he was only twenty-seven. Given how impeccably calm he was, she would have believed that he was more than at least three hundred years old. With his ever-calming voice, he said to her, "Are you sure that you are fine? I believe that you need some rest."

"I do not need sleep."

Alright. That was a lie. She did need to sleep, but she didn’t need to sleep right now. After years of staying up at night, Tracy had developed an immunity. However, even her energy had limits. It was just that hers were better than theirs.

"But we do," Dominic spoke up after his long, silent rebellion. He glared at her with those silent, raging eyes. "We cannot sleep in this car with you driving as if you are determined to kill us."

"I am not going to kill you." Tracy scoffed. "Are you all this dramatic?"

Ajax raised his hand and remarked, "I cannot believe that I am agreeing with him, but I, too, would like to take a nap at least. If this goes on, then I swear as hell am getting knocked out in the next fight. And I would like to stay alive."

Tracy glanced at the man, her fingers tapping on the steering wheel as she pondered whether to turn these brats into hamsters or to let them sleep.

"Just a few hours," Finn pleaded from the side, as if sensing what was going on in her mind.

She turned and gave the poor man a glance before giving it another thought. Very well.

Inez and Killian were far enough from the immediately affected area. They should be fine for a few more days. They were safe for now, and she would be back to their side by the time Morga recovers. They should be fine, and that was enough to give her some immediate relief. Maybe she could give these poor pups a few hours of rest.

Without turning them into hamsters.

"Fine."

She conceded before pulling into the parking lot of a small hotel. As she pulled into the parking lot, she texted Inez.

[Tracy: You don’t have to feel guilty for leaving them behind. You have done everything in your power to save their sorry lives, and if they are not willing to listen to you, then there is nothing that you can do. Just leave them to it.]

Inez had already done her part. It was terrifying that she, without tapping into her powers, knew what was happening, but then again, her bloodline was stronger than others. It was not a surprise that she could control a fraction of her powers. Unfortunately, it was not the time for her to realise who she was, or else it would make all hell break loose.

[Inez: I wish I could follow your advice. But I will be the Luna of this pack—I cannot abandon them. Though I truly wish to do that.]

Tracy clicked her tongue. Shifters and their stupid bonds. She was feeling responsible for a pack that didn’t even respect her as their Luna. Either Inez was really incredibly stupid, or she was the kindest soul. Knowing her, Tracy was leaning to the latter half. After all, who would give this bastard sitting in the backside of her car three chances? Certainly not her.

[Tracy: I love you for being so kind, but do you think that they are going to appreciate it? It would be better if you just turned a blind eye to their sufferings. No matter what happens, you have already done your best. Don’t forget that these people do not treat you as their luna.]

Inez read her response but didn’t reply. Either she was thinking too hard for a response, or she was momentarily offended by her remark.

Tracy set the phone down and twisted in her seat, ignoring the subtle pang of sadness. She might have come off as rather rude, but she was being truthful. The pack did not respect Inez, and she was being too kind to them. Something that they didn’t deserve.

She glanced at Dominic and said to him, "Come on now, Prince Charming. Your resting place is here." She looked at the aura around him and clicked her tongue. He was too weak. The magic affinity that this shifter had was really weak, but then again, it was surprising that this man even had any affinity because usually shifters had no such affinity.

Maybe he needed another booster. But she was kind of sure he was not going to like it.
