Chapter 85: Chapter 85 Almost Kissed Her in Front of Lin Xi’s Family

Xue Yang got off the bus and specifically walked toward Yonghui Supermarket.

He had a premonition that the Santa Claus he saw last night was very likely Lin Xi.

She probably wanted to buy a belt for me but didn’t have enough money, so she took the job. She doesn’t like dealing with strangers in other jobs, so the likelihood of her playing Santa is the highest.

That was also why Xue Yang had left school early today.

That little girl... if I find out she’s been working instead of studying, I’ll have to spank her.

From a distance, Xue Yang saw a Santa Claus standing at the entrance of Yonghui Supermarket, waving to passersby.

Xue Yang’s brows furrowed slightly. This doesn’t feel the same as last night.

He shook his head, pushing the thought from his mind, and slowly walked over.

Xue Yang was handsome and had a great sense of style. His appearance caused quite a few people at the supermarket entrance to turn their heads.

"Hello, may I shake your hand?"

The Santa Claus enthusiastically reached out to shake Xue Yang’s hand.

It’s not her!

The moment he held the hand, Xue Yang was certain.

The hand felt wrong. Lin Xi’s hand is like a priceless, uncarved piece of jade; holding it makes one want to treat her like a rare treasure. Besides, if it were that girl, there’s no way she would have acted so naturally upon seeing me.

Xue Yang breathed a sigh of relief. Honestly, if Lin Xi had really dressed up as Santa Claus just to buy me a gift, I would have felt terribly guilty. She just doesn’t seem like the kind of person who should be doing something like that.

"Thank you! Merry Christmas!" he said politely before hurrying home.

A group of small children saw Santa Claus and rushed over.

"Look, Santa Claus is here! Let’s go play with Santa!"

One of the little boys crossed his arms over his chest and said haughtily, "Only little kids like Santa Claus." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Another little girl retorted, "You’re a little kid too! And let me tell you, I’ve seen Santa Claus, and she’s very pretty."

Very pretty?

Xue Yang paused for a moment but then quickly continued on his way.

...

After familiarizing herself with the area, Auntie Shen went to the market and bought some of Lin Xi’s favorite foods.

Her young miss has been away from home for so long. She definitely hasn’t been eating properly. This is a two-bedroom apartment, and the kitchen is so small... it’s hard for me to make full use of my skills. The kitchen alone in the Lin family’s villa is much larger than this entire apartment.

In her room, Lin Xi was diligently working on practice tests. She had fallen behind on a lot of material over the past two days and needed to catch up.

Once she returned to school on New Year’s Day, exams would be just around the corner. I have to use my grades to make a request to my father.

CLICK.

The sound of a key turning in the lock came from the front door.

Auntie Shen, who was in the kitchen preparing ingredients, was about to go check on the noise when a figure dashed out of the bedroom. The instant the door opened, the figure leaped forward and threw herself into the arms of the person who had just entered.

"Xue Yang, you’re back!"

As he always did, Xue Yang caught her, his hands moving to support her bottom to keep her steady in his embrace so she wouldn’t fall.

"Easy there. It’s snowing outside, and I’m covered in snow. I don’t want you to get cold."

"I don’t care. I just want to hug you."

Xue Yang laughed, carried her to the sofa, and set her down. He took off his jacket, placed it aside, and leaned in to kiss her.

Just as their lips were about to meet, her small hand gently covered his mouth.

"Xue Yang, let me introduce you. That’s a relative of mine. I usually call her Auntie Shen!"

A relative? Auntie Shen?

Xue Yang turned and saw a middle-aged woman standing at the kitchen doorway. She was wearing the apron he usually used for cooking, and her hands were still damp, a clear sign she had been preparing food.

Though her expression was one of surprise, her emotions seemed stable. She hadn’t lost control despite seeing him get fresh with Lin Xi right in front of her.

I almost kissed her right in front of her family.

Xue Yang quickly let go of Lin Xi and stood up from the sofa. "Hello, Auntie Shen."

This was the first time he had met a middle-aged woman with such an elegant demeanor. If she weren’t wearing an apron, I couldn’t imagine someone with such refined bearing would ever cook.

Lin Xi shot him a look of playful complaint but still introduced him openly. "Auntie Shen, this is my boyfriend, Xue Yang."

I’m not afraid to introduce Xue Yang as my boyfriend to anyone. He *is* my boyfriend.

"Hello," Auntie Shen responded.

My first impression of this boy is actually quite good. However, after spending so much time with the Lin Family and seeing so many important figures, I can’t help but look down on Xue Yang, no matter how outstanding he might be.

Xue Yang was completely unprepared, having never expected Lin Xi’s family to show up so suddenly. At the same time, a worry crept in: will she take Lin Xi away today?

"Why don’t we go out to eat today?" Xue Yang suggested.

"Great idea!" Lin Xi had already planned to go out for dinner with Xue Yang today anyway.

"I’ve already bought groceries, and I’m about to start cooking," Auntie Shen said. "It’s Christmas, so it’s bound to be crowded outside. Besides, restaurant food might not be as clean as my home cooking."

The situation became a bit awkward.

Before Lin Xi could respond, Xue Yang spoke up. "Eating at home sounds great, too. Let me help!"

"Nope! Xue Yang, there’s a problem on my homework I can’t solve. Come and teach me, quick."

Lin Xi grabbed Xue Yang’s arm and pulled him toward the bedroom. "Auntie Shen, please hurry up and cook. I’m so hungry."

"Alright, it will be ready soon."

Hearing Lin Xi say she was hungry, Auntie Shen turned and went back into the kitchen.

Lin Xi pulled Xue Yang into the room, immediately shut the door, and pounced on him with a bear hug to continue their interrupted kiss.

Xue Yang said no more, holding the back of her head and deepening their kiss.

Neither of them spoke, their hearts drawing ever closer. They wished they could melt into each other’s very bones and blood.

When the kiss ended, neither knew how much time had passed.

Xue Yang’s back was against the door, his hands wrapped tightly around Lin Xi’s slender waist.

The only sound in the room was their soft breathing.

"Do you have to go back?"

"I’ve already told Auntie Shen that I’ll go back on New Year’s Day. Xue Yang, I won’t go back on my word."

"Lin Xi, thank you!" Thank you for not going back on your word. If I had come home today and not seen you, I don’t know what I would have done.

"Auntie Shen has always been very good to me. Even though she’s not my mother, I’ve spent more time with her than with my own mom ever since I was little. Don’t mind her being a bit stern right now; she’s just worried about me. Rest assured, she’ll respect my choice."

Xue Yang’s chin rested on top of Lin Xi’s head, and he let out a soft, "Mhm."

"And when you do go back, you have to study hard, you hear? Don’t run away from home again."

"Okay, I promise."

...

They had always thought that when the time to part finally came, they would have endless things to say. But now that the moment was upon them, they found themselves at a loss for words.
