Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 389 - 387: Buying a Villa
"Um, I actually came over today because I have something else to discuss with you," Si Wen told Xue Yang.
"What is it?" Xue Yang asked.
He had guessed that Si Wen must have had another reason for coming today.
Seeing that the two were about to discuss important matters, Lin Xi decided not to interrupt. She picked up her phone and quietly went into her room to write.
She wanted to finish her word count for the past couple of days as quickly as possible so she could spend more time with Xue Yang. An author doesn’t get days off, but you can always squeeze them out.
Once Lin Xi entered the room, Si Wen’s expression turned serious.
"A foreign company approached us," she said. "They want to partner with us to develop the overseas market. I came to ask if you think it’s feasible."
Si Wen knew that when Wu Meiju had wanted to expand into the overseas market, Xue Yang had firmly rejected her. Ultimately, Wu Meiju’s insistence on the plan even landed her in prison.
Of course, Si Wen understood this wasn’t Xue Yang’s fault. Wu Meiju had been too greedy, and Xue Yang had merely given her a push from behind. Still, it showed that he really didn’t want to expand overseas.
However, she thought the proposal from this new company was quite good and worth a try.
Xue Yang thought for a moment and said, "We can do it."
Si Wen was surprised. "You’re not against it?"
She had been prepared for him to disagree and had already thought of ways to convince him, but he had simply agreed.
The company that wanted to collaborate was very sincere. They proposed covering all promotional expenses; Trendy Apparel Company only needed to provide the designs. In other words, it was merely a branding agreement. The profits might not be substantial, but the overseas market was vast. Even with low profit margins, the sheer volume could be more lucrative than aggressively competing in the domestic market.
"The situation now is completely different from back then," Xue Yang explained briefly. "Anyone could see that Wu Meiju only wanted to expand overseas as an opportunity to cover up the funds she had embezzled. Of course, I wouldn’t agree to that."
Si Wen had a sudden realization. So that was the reason. And here I thought he was simply against exporting overseas.
"Also, the samples for this year’s autumn collection are out," Si Wen added. "I wanted to see when you might be free for the photo shoot."
"When does the shoot start?"
"It depends on your schedule, but the sooner, the better. The summer collection is already launched, and we still have a lot to handle for autumn. I’m afraid we’ll run out of time."
"I understand. I’ll contact Jennifer when I have a moment."
It feels like I’m running out of time more and more.
Afterward, Si Wen gave Xue Yang a detailed introduction to the overseas company and even showed him the contract they had prepared. The two of them strategized on how to maximize the company’s profits, with Xue Yang leading the discussion.
Xue Yang read through the contract carefully and made several amendments to its clauses.
"Have someone reprint the contract with my changes and let me review it one more time," he instructed. "If there are no issues, use this version to sign with them. If they don’t agree to these terms, then we’ll just call off the partnership."
Si Wen trusted Xue Yang’s judgment completely. "Okay, I’ll do as you say."
After listening to his analysis, she realized there were so many details she had completely missed. If Xue Yang hadn’t pointed them out... she couldn’t imagine how much money the company would have lost. It had to be said, Xue Yang really had a knack for business. Other than Chairman Lin and her own father, Xue Yang was the person she admired the most.
"Have you ever thought about hiring a professional lawyer to specifically handle overseas affairs?"
"I have, but I haven’t found a suitable candidate yet. Do you have someone in mind?"
Xue Yang pondered for a moment. The gaming company was, in fact, also missing a lawyer specializing in this field.
"Not yet," he said. "I’ll have someone keep an eye out."
I’ll ask Wu Xiaoya later and see if she can recommend anyone suitable from Yanbei. Actually, when it comes to this, I do have someone in mind, but...
After all the details were finalized, three hours had passed.
Lin Xi had already finished her writing for the day. She’d even gotten a head start on tomorrow’s quota, but now she was tired and came out of her room.
Seeing her, Si Wen immediately asked, "Xiao Xi, are you done with your writing?"
"I’ve finished today’s part."
"We’re just about done here, too. Come on, let’s go look at the villa. This was the most important reason I came to see you both today."
Lin Xi glanced at the time. It was already 5 p.m.
"Oh, it won’t take long!" Si Wen said quickly. "I’ve already found one. You just need to go see if you like it. If you don’t, I’ll have someone find another. It won’t delay you for too long."
Lin Xi sat down next to Xue Yang and asked, "Xue Yang, should we go?"
"If you want to, then let’s go."
Lin Xi’s eyes curved into crescents. "Then let’s go!"
"Okay."
The three of them quickly got ready. Xue Yang drove, taking the two women toward the address Si Wen had mentioned.
"The villa’s location is a bit remote," Si Wen explained, "but the surrounding environment is fantastic. It’s great for both living and recreation."
Xue Yang had assumed that by "remote," Si Wen meant truly isolated. To his surprise, it was located at the foot of Xiangshan. From the villa, you could even see the Xiangshan Ski Resort. This meant that in the winter, if they wanted to go skiing, they wouldn’t need to stay in a hotel; they could just come home.
The layout was also excellent, exactly the style Xue Yang liked.
Overall, it’s flawless.
"So? The villa I found is pretty great, right?" Si Wen said with a smug expression. "I sifted through a lot of options before finally settling on this one."
"Xue Yang, can we please get this one?" Lin Xi asked. She loved the villa, not for any particular reason other than the fact that there was a thoughtful patch of empty land behind it that she could use for whatever she wanted.
"As long as you like it."
"It’s settled then! I’ll make a call."
Si Wen took out her phone and walked to the side to call her dad.
Although her allowance was enough to buy this villa, one should save where one can. Haha!
When the call connected, Si Wen got straight to the point.
"Dad, I’ve found a villa I like, but I don’t have enough money."
"What do you need to buy a villa for?"
"It’s a gift."
"I’m asking who you’re giving it to." Si Mingli knew his daughter well. He was certain she wouldn’t be buying a villa for herself.
"To Lin Xi."
"Oh, it’s for Lin Xi... Wait, what did you say? It’s for Miss Lin?"
"Yes, Dad! Stop asking so many questions and just send the money. We’re about to sign the contract."
"Alright. I’ll have my secretary bring the card over to you."
"Thanks, Dad!"
About half an hour later, Si Mingli’s secretary arrived with his exclusive black card. When she saw Xue Yang, she froze.
Why is there a man here? The Chairman didn’t say anything about him.
"Good day, Miss Lin. Good day, Miss Si," the secretary greeted them. "Here is the Chairman’s card."
Si Wen took the card from the secretary. "Sister Su, sorry to have troubled you with this trip," she said.
