Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love-Chapter 137 - 136: Everyone is Chasing Lin Xi’s Novel
It was their master bedroom.
Though they had only lived there for just over three months, the place held so many of their happy memories. Each one was deeply imprinted in his mind, lingering and refusing to fade. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Only when his neck began to ache did Xue Yang look away. He went downstairs, pushed open the door, and walked inside. As the main door slowly closed behind him, a luxurious Bentley pulled up to the exact spot where he had been standing.
The car window rolled down, revealing an exquisite face. Her blue-themed makeup and matching blue Lorita dress made even this one-of-a-kind Bentley seem dull in comparison. She leaned out of the window slightly, gazing up at the master bedroom on the eighth floor.
That was the master bedroom where she and Xue Yang had lived. Back then, whenever Xue Yang came home late, she would often look up from that window, counting the moments until his return. Waiting for him to come home had become the happiest part of her day. She especially loved hearing the sound of the key sliding into the lock; the turning of the mechanism was like the most beautiful music in the world. Whenever she heard it, she knew she would see Xue Yang’s silhouette in the doorway in the next second. At those moments, she would rush over and throw herself onto him, letting him carry her around.
Xue Yang, I miss you so much.
Suddenly, a glimmer of light pierced the darkness of the window. The beam fell directly onto Lin Xi’s face, and her eyes shot wide open. Her heart pounded wildly as she gripped the car window, her knuckles instantly turning white.
Xue Yang is back. He’s returned. He’s home right now.
How she wished she were home, too, ready to rush into his arms the moment he stepped through the door and drink in his scent. She wanted to hug him, to kiss him! More than anything, she wanted to storm upstairs right now and tell him that she was here, that she had always been here.
The bodyguard noticed Lin Xi’s strange state. He could see in the rearview mirror that she was struggling to restrain herself. He spoke up at the right moment, "Miss, it’s late. We should be heading back."
"I want to stay a little longer."
"Miss, the Chairman returned from America today. He’s at home waiting for you."
Lin Xi fought back her tears and slowly let her hands fall from the window. Seeing this, the bodyguard gently rolled the window up and started the car, driving away from that place.
Xue Yang returned to a dark, silent apartment. Since no one was living there, the heat was off, and a bone-chilling cold greeted him as he stepped inside. He turned the heating back on, then quickly switched on every light in the apartment, even the one on the balcony. It was as if this was the only way he could feel less alone.
Before meeting Lin Xi, he had always been by himself. He had never thought there was anything wrong with being alone. Only after experiencing the warmth of companionship did he realize how terrifying loneliness truly was.
Finally, he walked over to the window. Thanks to his height, he easily saw the scene below. The snow-covered ground was a blanket of white. Long tire tracks marked the road where cars had passed.
This must be where Lin Xi used to watch for me coming home, so she could throw herself into my arms the moment I walked in. That silly girl.
He closed the window again. As the room gradually warmed, Xue Yang sat on the bed, stroking the comforter. She had picked it out. It was a very soft, princess-pink color that had originally clashed with his style completely. After using it for a while, though, he had come to think the color was actually quite nice.
Especially nice.
Xue Yang threw himself onto the bed and pulled the comforter over his face, leaving only his body visible, like an ostrich burying its head in the sand.
After some time, his phone rang. Xue Yang reached out, fumbled in his pants pocket, and pulled it out. Without even looking at the caller ID, he blindly answered. Cui Hao’s voice came from the other end.
"Xue Yang, you’re not coming back to the dorm tonight?"
"I’m a bit tired, so I went home. I’ll head to school tomorrow morning."
"Oh, okay. By the way, Xue Yang, remember that novel you recommended to me, ’My Precious Boy’?"
"What about it?"
To console Lin Xi, he had indeed forced Cui Hao to follow the novel and leave comments. So much time had passed; he figured Cui Hao had long forgotten about it.
"The author hasn’t updated in a while, and I was wondering what’s going on. I left a comment, but she didn’t reply. Other people have left comments too. This author doesn’t seem to read her comment section. There are so many messages, and she hasn’t replied to a single one."
"You’re still following it?"
"Of course! Didn’t you tell me to follow it every day and leave comments?"
"Oh. She’s not updating anymore, so you don’t have to follow it."
Xue Yang assumed Cui Hao was only asking for his sake.
"What? No way! The novel is really good, she can’t stop writing it."
"You think it’s good?"
"Yeah, it’s great! And it’s not just me; everyone else thinks so, too. Kexin is following it, and we just happened to be talking about it today. That’s why I’m calling. Xue Yang, can you go ask the author? Everyone’s waiting for an update."
Xue Yang pulled the comforter off his face, revealing his handsome, slightly flushed features.
"I’ll ask."
"Great! We’re counting on you, Xue Yang. You introduced this novel to me, so you have to see it through to the end."
"Got it."
Xue Yang hung up and sat up, opening the author’s backend on his phone. The moment it loaded, a barrage of notifications popped up. A flood of comments, recommendation tickets, donations, and feature recommendations rushed in, causing his phone to lag.
He waited patiently for all the notifications to load before he started reading through them.
"Where did the author go? It’s been eleven days, why is there no update?"
"This is written so well, why did the updates stop?"
"Update update update update update update update update update update..."
"Author, I sent you a donation! Please, please don’t drop the story! I want to read what happens next, waahhh~~~"
"..."
Cui Hao was right; the screen was filled with comments begging for an update, and all of them were positive reviews. After ’My Precious Boy’ had stopped updating, its rating hadn’t dropped—it had actually gone up. In the comments section, some readers had even spontaneously created a fan group to try and find the author and get her to continue.
When it was first published, there was no reader engagement for several days straight, and Lin Xi had been plunged into a state of self-doubt. He never thought... that it would become this popular. In fact, even Xue Yang himself hadn’t expected it. He had initially just thought that since Lin Xi wanted to earn her own money, he would support her. But her studies still had to be the priority. He never imagined she would actually succeed like this.
...
P.S. Thank you for the donations!!! Thank you for your support!
