Chapter 107: Chapter 106: Lin Xi’s Boyfriend

"Has anyone ever told you that when you dress like this, you look like a devoted wife and loving mother?"

"Yes."

Xue Yang’s hand suddenly tightened. "Who?"

His tone was laced with danger.

"Si Wen. She told me just a little while ago. But I have no idea why she would think that!"

Lin Xi’s limpid eyes were filled with confusion.

"Because... you’re beautiful."

...

They didn’t even realize when they fell asleep. All they knew was that when they woke the next day, the sun was already high in the sky.

A certain third wheel was sitting in the living room with her arms crossed, radiating an aura of resentment.

Hand in hand, Xue Yang and Lin Xi emerged, sensing it from a distance. The two acted as if they saw nothing, remaining as inseparable as ever.

"I thought you were just popping over for a minute, but you ended up staying the entire night!"

The worst part was that they had slept past noon, completely disregarding her feelings as a single person. Good manners had prevented Si Wen from knocking on their door, leaving her to stew in her own frustration.

Upon seeing Lin Xi’s slightly swollen lips, Si Wen lost all desire to speak.

So this is my fate as a single person? To be fed a constant diet of their PDA?

Lin Xi let go of Xue Yang’s hand, walked over to her, and said, "Si Wen, don’t be mad, okay? Have you had breakfast?"

Si Wen laughed in exasperation. "Please, it’s already twelve o’clock."

"Then have you had lunch?"

"You two didn’t get up. Was I supposed to go eat by myself? Forget it. Couples in the honeymoon phase are terrifying; they can’t stand to be apart, not even to eat. So why did I even bother waiting here?"

Even so, Si Wen showed no intention of leaving.

After the three of them had lunch, they went about their own business in the house.

Lin Xi opened her writing app to check if her novel Chapters were scheduled to publish correctly and to work on some drafts.

Xue Yang was talking with Jennifer from the ’Chao’ fashion brand about the photos from their last shoot. Jennifer planned to release this new spring collection on New Year’s Day.

"Xue Yang, are you really not going to consider being our company’s spokesperson? I think you’re perfect for it. I can’t find anyone else who looks as good in my designs as you do."

"Sorry, I have a girlfriend," Xue Yang replied.

"Having a girlfriend is no problem," Jennifer said. "It’s normal for young people to be in relationships."

It was clear that Jennifer truly hoped Xue Yang would endorse the clothes she designed. What does a designer hope to see most, if not their ’children’ finding their perfect home? And Xue Yang was the perfect home for her garments. After thinking it over, she decided not to force Xue Yang to maintain a ’single’ persona.

"I’ll think about it. Thank you," Xue Yang said.

"Great. I’m really looking forward to your answer," Jennifer replied.

Compared to Xue Yang and Lin Xi, who were each busy with their own work, Si Wen was incredibly bored. On her rare day off, she’d arranged to play a parkour game with four of her best friends online. But after just a few minutes, she crashed into an obstacle and died, getting zero enjoyment out of the game. She was so annoyed she nearly smashed her phone.

"Forget this! Let’s play League of Legends. I’ll get someone to bring me a proper PC. I’m not stopping until I’ve played to my heart’s content, and no one is leaving!"

Si Wen made a call to her bodyguard. Half an hour later, her bodyguard arrived with a team to set up a top-of-the-line gaming PC for her.

Watching this, Xue Yang could only marvel to himself. The world of the wealthy is truly on another level. Getting a top-tier PC delivered on a whim just to play a game...

"Xue Yang, take a look. How’s this part I wrote?"

Xue Yang put down his phone and took the one Lin Xi handed him.

"The female lead has to move abroad due to family circumstances, and before she goes, she decides to give herself to the male lead... They agree to meet at a hotel..."

Xue Yang read from Lin Xi’s novel in a soft voice, their heads touching as they looked at the screen together, the picture of intimacy.

Si Wen ripped off her headphones and yelled at them, "Hey! Could you two spare a thought for your single friend over here?"

"Sorry!" Xue Yang called back.

But the two of them just ignored her and carried on.

"Si Wen? Who was that?" a pleasant female voice asked through her headset.

"Lin Xi. Who else?" Si Wen grumbled.

"Si Wen, you found Lin Xi?"

"Yes, I have, but don’t tell anyone yet. She should be going back to school after New Year’s."

"How is she doing now?"

Si Wen glanced over at the couple, who looked like they wanted to fuse into one being, and said through gritted teeth, "She’s great! Just great!"

"Wait, from the sound of it... does Lin Xi have a boyfriend?"

"Yeah." Si Wen practically crushed her mouse.

"Wow! Let us see what her boyfriend looks like!"

"Don’t ask so many questions. If Lin Xi wants you to see, she’ll show you."

"Can we say a few words to Lin Xi?"

"No. Now shut up and get in the game. I refuse to believe this. Just because I suck at the parkour game doesn’t mean I can’t win at League!"

Being the odd one out, Si Wen could only vent all the frustration she’d bottled up from watching Xue Yang and Lin Xi onto the game.

Thirty minutes later, Si Wen was fuming.

"Stupid game! I’m done playing! You guys have fun, I’m out."

Si Wen quit the game, tossed her headphones aside, and marched over to Xue Yang and Lin Xi. "It’s boring in here. Let’s go out and do something."

Lin Xi looked up and blinked at her. "Not really. We’re finding this quite interesting."

They were writing a story together, each from the perspective of the male and female lead. It was surprisingly fun. They couldn’t believe they hadn’t thought of doing it this way before.

"Let me see what you’re working on."

Si Wen suddenly leaned in. Lin Xi tried to pull her phone away, but it was too late—Si Wen had already caught a glimpse.

"A novel? Don’t tell me you two are writing a novel."

Lin Xi locked her screen. "What’s so strange about it?"

"Nothing’s strange about that, but you hiding it from me is what’s suspicious."

Lin Xi blushed. "You’re too young, you can’t read it."

"Like you’re so much older than me. If you won’t let me see, then I’ll just have to look for myself."

Taking advantage of Lin Xi’s distraction, Si Wen snatched the phone from her hands.

Xue Yang rubbed his nose, looking a bit embarrassed. "You two... talk. I’m going to go for a walk."

Si Wen woke the screen and made Lin Xi unlock it.

My Precious Boy?

"You wrote this novel?"

"Yes, what about it?"

"Guan Xiaoqi and a few of our friends are all following this! The updates are so slow, the wait for each Chapter is torture. I can’t believe you’re the author! No, wait... it must be you and Xue Yang writing it together. If I remember correctly, the story is at the part where the main couple is about to be separated, right? We were all just discussing that the female lead should sleep with the male lead before she goes abroad..."

Si Wen’s eyes narrowed, as if she’d just made a groundbreaking discovery.

"What... what plot point were you two just writing?"

"N-Nothing... you’ll find out when you read the update."

...
