Reincarnation of The Villainess: She Has The Duke's Baby!-Chapter 86: #-The Mysterious Voice Try To Playing With Edmund’s Mind
Where is this?
Edmund Gerwyn had felt this uncomfortable feeling before. A feeling that really made Edmund want to run away as far as possible. The darkness around him did not make it difficult for Edmund to take a step. As if this darkness helped him to see. Edmund’s body shivered from the cold but the man didn’t care. He didn’t have time to wander around aimlessly like this. He must quickly find Penelope and save her.
"You can’t save her, Edmund Gerwyn."
The voice made Edmund stop walking and stare intently at his surroundings.
"Who’s that?" asked the Duke in a sharp tone. "Don’t hide and speak from your hiding place! Show yourself right now!"
The voice that spoke to Edmund laughed mockingly. Yes, Edmund remembered he had heard this voice before. The voice that often appeared in his head and had also met him in his dreams several times. So, is this a dream? Dammit! Is he sleeping now? How could he fall asleep when he had to quickly find Penelope and their child that his wife was carrying?
"Why would I show my form in front of a lowly human like you?" sneered the mysterious voice. "I only came here to tell you that Penelope Askary was destined to die. Whatever the method is, that bitch will definitely die!"
"Shut up!" shouted Edmund. The man clenched his fists at his sides and growled. "My wife will not die. As long as I live and breathe, Penelope Askary will never die! I will protect her so that no harm will ever come to her life!" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"You’re a man who talks a lot but you don’t know anything," snorted the mysterious voice. "Hey, Duke Edmund. Have you forgotten what I said back then and also the dream I gave you? You’ve already killed Penelope Askary! Maybe not in this life but in your previous life. Your first life. You killed that woman so cruelly together with Sebastian De Louis, Duke Edmund!"
"Bullshit!" shouted Edmund. The man growled again and he started to lose control of himself. "I never killed Penelope Askary! First life, you say? Nothing like that ever happened! This is my first life. I never remember living any other life besides this one!"
"If you don’t want to believe me, then go ahead. It’s your right. But, what I said was true. You can ask your beloved Penelope, Duke Edmund. She knows and remembers that you killed her in your first life! Have you forgotten how she always stays far away from you and afraid of you?"
Edmund froze. His heart was pounding really hard. Cold sweat started to roll down his handsome face. The Duke was starting to struggle to breathe properly as he recalled all his encounters with Penelope. Then, Penelope also said she met a mysterious hooded person, who said she would be killed by him and Sebastian. Then, the woman changed her recent explanation by saying it was this mysterious voice that had told her about the murders.
But... turns out it was all a lie and the truth is, they’ve lived in the first life or something, and then he killed Penelope Askary together with Sebastian De Louis?
"I... killed Penelope Askary?" muttered Edmund. He raised his hands and those hands trembled violently, and then he squeezed his head tightly while shaking his head. "No! That’s not possible!"
The mysterious voice laughed. "Let me show you, Duke Edmund."
Edmund gasped and widened his eyes when he saw Penelope Askary appear before him. The woman still looked beautiful even though her appearance was very messy. Her white dress was stained with blood, her face was pale, her hair was disheveled. And, what Edmund couldn’t bear to see the most was when he saw Penelope had no hands and there was a sword stuck in her left chest. The sword even penetrated Penelope’s petite body.
"You killed me, Duke Edmund," Penelope said. Her voice is full of hatred. The tears streamed down her pale face. "Is it wrong if I’m jealous of Isabella Lysander because she managed to get the love of Sebastian De Louis? Why did you and Sebastian have to torture me and kill me? It hurts a lot, Duke Edmund."
"Jealous of... Isabella?" Edmund approached Penelope with slow steps. The man seemed to have lost his soul. His eyes were empty and the tears were already streaming down his handsome face. "You... still love Sebastian, Penny? Then, what about me...?"
’Duke! Duke Edmund!’
Edmund seemed to hear his name being called. The person who called his name sounded so panicked and worried. Even so, Edmund did not care. He had to get an explanation from Penelope.
"I never loved you, Duke Edmund. I hate you. Don’t you hate me too? That’s why you killed me, right? Because I always make the woman you love, Isabella Lysander, suffer."
"I love no other woman but you, Penny!" cried Edmund. He fell to his knees and hugged Penelope’s waist. The man didn’t care about the smell of blood that made him sick. "I only love you, Penelope Askary."
’Duke Edmund! Dammit, open your eyes right now!’
"In that case, are you willing to come with me?" Penelope asked in a sad tone. Edmund looked up and looked at Penelope, who was pointing into the distance. There, there was a door that suddenly opened. A red light was visible from the door. "Come on, let’s go over there. We can live alone in that place forever. If you love me, you will come with me, right?"
"Of course. Wherever it is, even if it is hell, I will always follow you, Honey," said Edmund. The man stood up and walked after Penelope. He didn’t even hear the mysterious voice laughing to mock him.
"Father!"
The exclamation made Edmund flinch and stop walking. He froze when he felt something hug his legs. Edmund looked down and could see a girl and a boy trying to hold him from walking again. The two children were probably around four or five years old. When they both looked up, Edmund was fascinated by the beauty and handsomeness of the two children. What amazed Edmund the most were the two children’s eyes which were different colors. Each child has golden eyes and blue eyes. Like his eye color and Penelope’s eye color.
"Father?" muttered Edmund. "Did you just call me Father?"
The two children nodded.
"Because you are our Father!" shouted the girl. She cries. "Father, why did you let the darkness overtake you, especially your heart? She’s a bad woman, Father. She is the Goddess of Darkness. Open your eyes, Father!"
The boy nodded. His face was very similar to the girl beside him and Edmund realized that they were twins. "Father, open your eyes and save Mother. Save us, Father! Didn’t we meet you and tell you that Mother would be in great danger and we wouldn’t be born into this world if you didn’t protect Mother well?"
"You... have you ever met me and said that?" Edmund shook his head. "But, Penelope was there..." Edmund stared ahead and widened his eyes. Penelope Askary was no longer in front of him. Likewise the door that had a red light earlier. "Penny? Honey, where are you?"
"Father, Mother is not here!" The girl cried loudly and took Edmund’s hand. "Come on, let’s get out of this terrible place. Please, quickly save Mother and both of us, Father."
Even though Edmund didn’t understand, he let the two children pull his hands. The twins cried, making Edmund take a deep breath. The mysterious voice that had invited him to speak was no longer heard. Edmund felt somehow better now than before. The Duke immediately carried the two children and smiled.
"Are you guys here to save me from this darkness?" asked Edmund.
The twins nodded while wiping the tears off their faces.
"Because you’re such a stupid Father," said the girl, making Edmund blink.
"Huh?"
"Because Father is too easily controlled by the darkness," continued the boy at Edmund’s right hand. "That’s why Goddess Elleia sent us to save Father."
"Perhaps, I am indeed still very weak." Edmund kissed the cheeks of the twins in his arms. "But, I don’t remember ever meeting you guys."
"That’s because Goddess Elleia erased Father’s memories of that dream. Because you shouldn’t be allowed to meet us before we were born into the world."
"Hmm." Edmund nodded and saw a pink light in the distance. "Should we enter that light?"
"Yes!" shouted the twins, nodding. "But, we can’t go in there. We’re just going to take Father all the way here."
Edmund put the twins down and crouched before them. He ran his hand through the two’s hair gently and smiled warmly.
"You’re my kids with Penny, right?"
"Yes!"
"I... will meet you guys, right?"
The twins looked at each other and smiled sadly.
"If Father manages to save Mother, then we will see you in the future," replied the boy. "Therefore, please save us, Father."
"But, I don’t know where that son of a bitch—I mean, the kidnapper—took Penny." Edmund clenched his jaw.
"The sea," said the girl, smiling. She held Edmund’s cheek with her tiny hand. "Search for the mansion surrounded by the sea, Father. The place is in the West area. Goddess Elleia allowed us to give Father a hint."
"We will hold out until Father gets there," said the boy. "Therefore, never give up, Father!"
Edmund nodded and hugged his twins tightly.
"May... may I know your names?" asked Edmund doubtfully.
"Goddess Elleia has already told us the names we will receive from Mother and Father," said the girl in a cheerful tone. "My name is Ocean! My name is taken from the color of the blue sea which is the same color as my hair and Mother."
"And I’m Raven. My name is taken from the black color of my hair which is the same as my Father’s hair color."
Edmund smiled warmly and hugged his twins again so tightly.
"See you soon, Ocean, Raven."

"Duke Edmund! Dammit, open your eyes or I will kill you right now!"
Edmund growled and held his aching head. The man opened both eyes and frowned at Ethan Askary and Helios Rune Abelavish. The two men looked relieved. Edmund got up from his lying position and cleared his throat.
"What happened to me?" asked Edmund.
"You passed out as soon as we arrived at the Abelavish imperial palace," Ethan replied. "You’ve been unconscious since yesterday, Duke Edmund. Are you okay?"
"I will summon the palace doctor to check on your condition, Duke," said Helios. However, Edmund immediately held his arm and shook his head.
"No need. I’m fine."
"Are you sure?" Ethan asked. "You’ve been delirious ever since, Duke. You look really suffered. Did you have a nightmare while you were unconscious?"
"Maybe?" Edmund took a deep breath. He didn’t want to remember what the mysterious voice had said in his dream. Later, he would discuss this with Penelope. "Rather than that, I want us all to go to the West area now. We should look for a mansion surrounded only by the sea."
"What?" Ethan and Helios looked at each other and frowned.
"Penny is there," said Edmund. The Duke got off the bed and took a deep breath. "I got a hint from someone in my dream. I’m sure that person won’t lie to me. Now, we have to quickly find Penny in the West and save her."
