Chapter 80: #80-The Revenge of Isaac Abraham

"I received quite shocking information today, Brother-in-law."

Ethan Askary tensed in his place and cleared his throat. The man was at Edmund Gerwyn’s mansion at the moment to visit Penelope Askary, his little sister, who he loved very much, was beautiful, and also adorable. Ethan drank his tea elegantly as if he wasn’t interested in Edmund’s words just now. Even so, Ethan panicked and glanced at Penelope, who looked curious. The woman looked at Edmund with sparkling eyes and smiled broadly.

"What information do you have, Ed?" Penelope asked. "I want to know too."

"Hmm?" Edmund smiled gently at his wife and stroked her hair affectionately. "I wanted to tell you. However, I don’t know if my handsome Brother-in-law will give his permission for me to tell you this information."

"The information you’ve got is wrong, Little Brother-in-law," Ethan said in a calm tone. "I don’t know where you got it from but I know you’re wrong."

"Oh, yeah?" Edmund grinned. "But, I got this information from my shadow knight, Chris. He was chatting with your knight called Callix and immediately told me what Callix told him. Didn’t you also see me coming out of this room for a while? I wanted to take something that was left in my study and accidentally ran into Chris. He looked like he couldn’t believe what Callix had told him. So, there’s no way this information is wrong. Or... should I ask the person involved?"

"Hey—"

"Who was involved?" Penelope asked, interrupting Ethan, who was preparing to protest Edmund. "Hey, what were you two talking about?" The woman looked at Ethan with a pitiful gaze. "Big Brother, am I not allowed to know about this information?"

’If you find out, you’ll be mad at me again and won’t talk to me anymore, Penny,’ said Ethan inside his heart. But, seeing Penelope’s sad face and gaze, Ethan couldn’t bear it. He can’t bear to see his little sister being sad like this. Ugh!

"How is it, Brother-in-law?" asked Edmund mockingly. "Can I tell Penny?"

Ethan held Penelope’s hand tightly. "Penny, Honey, whatever you are going to hear now, it is not like what you imagined. I don’t have any feelings for that woman at all!"

Penelope, who didn’t understand, could only blink and tilt her head. She looked at Edmund, who looked away to hide his laughter.

"Um...Ed? What’s this all about?" Penelope asked.

Edmund took a deep breath and cleared his throat. "My handsome Brother-in-law just helped Isabella Lysander, who was crying because Sebastian De Louis was trying to hurt her. Then, Isabella said she would find new love, would forget about Sebastian, and would not marry that man. Instead, Isabella said she would make Ethan fall in love with her because she was starting to fall in love with Ethan."

Penelope blinked and her mouth opened wide. This information really shocked her. She looked at Ethan, who was now looking down with a blushing face. This development greatly deviates from the original novel. No. Since the beginning, since she entered Penelope Askary’s body, everything has indeed changed. But, shouldn’t Isabella Lysander still be Sebastian De Louis’ partner even though she is now the wife of Edmund Gerwyn? The main characters in this story are Sebastian De Louis and Isabella Lysander, right?

’That’s why you must die, Penelope Askary!’

The voice inside Penelope’s head made Penelope freeze. The woman gulped and glanced around. She could see and hear the argument between her husband and her older brother but her concentration was on that voice that appeared in her head.

’From the start, you were destined to die, Penelope Askary! If you die, everything will return to the way it was and according to the original plot! So, go die! Kill yourself!’

"Penny?"

The call made Penelope flinch and looked up. She can see Edmund and Ethan looking at her with worried eyes. The Duke also held her hand tightly and just waved in front of her face to wake her up. Dammit. Since when has she been daydreaming like this?

"What is it?" asked Edmund. "Are you sick?"

Penelope smiled faintly and shook her head. She took a deep breath.

"That voice... popped up in my head again just now, Ed," Penelope said. The woman sighed heavily and rested her forehead on the Duke’s warm chest. "She asked me to die, as usual."

Edmund and Ethan looked at each other. The two men were both determined to find a way so that the mysterious voice would no longer appear in Penelope’s head.

Today, Penelope decided to go to the boutique and choose new dresses for her birthday.

Initially, Penelope did not want to celebrate her birthday. She had also asked her family for that when she entered Penelope Askary’s body. Why would she celebrate her birthday which would also be the day of her tragic death? It might not be on her birthday but she would still die at the hands of Edmund Gerwyn and Sebastian De Louis if she had followed the plot of the original novel. However, because her life was far different from the plot of the original novel and she was already the wife of the Duke, Penelope accepted Edmund’s suggestion that he wanted to celebrate her birthday. Penelope’s parents were of course very happy to hear this news.

"My Lady, isn’t that golden dress very pretty?" Sarah asked, pointing at the dress in front of her. "This dress is the same color as your eyes, My Lady. I’m sure Duke Edmund will love this dress too."

Penelope touched the dress gently and smiled happily. Sarah’s right. This golden dress is so pretty. She looked at Sarah and nodded.

"Please, call the boutique owner, Sarah. I wanted to ask if she has a gold suit for men that would go well with this dress."

While looking at the other dresses, someone appeared behind Penelope. The person was wearing a black robe and there was a cloth that covered part of his face. Then, he pointed the dagger at Penelope’s neck, causing her to flinch, freeze, and swallow hard. She glanced sideways, trying to figure out the identity of the mysterious person but failed. Dammit! Why did it have to be today when she was alone with Sarah, for this person to show up to hurt her? Penelope had indeed asked Edmund not to order anyone, including the shadow knights, to follow her and Sarah. She wanted to spend some time alone with Sarah. Now, Penelope regrets her decision.

"Don’t shout," said the mysterious person in a sharp tone. "Or, this dagger will slash your beautiful white neck and stain it with terrifying red blood."

Penelope nodded. She had to find a way to get rid of this person.

"My master wants to see you," the person said again. "We will leave using magic."

"My Lady, the owner of the boutique will...." Sarah, who entered the room to inform Penelope that the owner of the boutique would be late because she had to take care of something, widened her eyes and froze. "My Lady!"

"Sarah, stay there," Penelope said in a firm tone. Sarah, who was about to run to save Penelope, automatically stopped. She looked pale and panicked. "I will be fine. I will be back."

"But—"

"Tell Duke Edmund about this," Penelope said. She smiled. "Duke Edmund knows what he has to do."

Hearing that, the mysterious person snorted and laughed mockingly. "Do you think that cruel husband of yours can find you? You don’t even know where I’m taking you now."

Penelope grinned. "You underestimate my husband too much, mysterious person. Let me tell you one thing. In fifteen minutes, Duke Edmund will come to me and save my life."

###

Penelope had suspected that the master, the mysterious person who had kidnapped her, was referring to Isaac Abraham.

It was different from her vision back then. Even though in the end she was successfully kidnapped, the one who did it was not Isaac Abraham but the person the man ordered. Penelope glared at Isaac, who was standing before her.

"Weren’t you taught how to treat a woman?" Penelope asked mockingly. So is her smile now. "You even ordered that person to make me kneel before you."

"You still dare to go against me even though you know your current situation is very disadvantageous to you, huh?" Isaac laughed and snorted. He crouched in front of Penelope and gripped Penelope’s chin so tightly that she winced in pain. "Don’t you know that your life is in my hands, Penelope Askary?"

"So what?" Penelope challenged. "Did you think I would be scared and beg you to let me go? Listen, Isaac Abraham. Even if you torment me, I will never beg you! On the other hand, you are the one who will beg for your life to me. Do you think my husband will just stay silent when he finds out what happened to me right now?"

Isaac snorted. "You can still be cocky, Penelope Askary. From childhood, I really hated you. Why must you get everything? High noble status, a family that loves you, and many more! That’s why you always underestimate me, right?!"

"I never underestimated you at all," Penelope said in a firm tone. "Aren’t you the one who always bullied me since we were kids? You even pushed me off the tree!"

Isaac laughed. "Yes, you’re right. I really enjoyed your screams of pain and your cries of fear, Penelope. And now, I’m going to do it again. I will torment you better than our childhood. I hate you. I have a grudge against you because my Father always prided himself on you and forced me to marry you. I was hit and scolded for not wanting to marry you. I’m forbidden from having a relationship with the woman I love because my Father was obsessed with you, with your family’s wealth!" Isaac licked Penelope’s cheek, causing her to look away and disgust herself for not being able to do anything to keep him from licking her face. "I will make you feel the pain I have felt all this time because of you, Penelope Askary!"

"Sure. Do it if you want your head off your body and roll on the ground, Isaac Abraham!"

Isaac flinched and turned his head quickly. He was wide-eyed when he saw Edmund Gerwyn standing in front of him and giving him a murderous look. In his right hand was a sword covered in blood and in his left hand was the head of one of the assassin guild members he had hired. Isaac stood up and his body trembled.

"You... how could you..." Isaac gulped and could hear the sounds of swords clashing outside.

"Ed!" Penelope shouted excitedly.

"You dare kidnap my wife and want to torture her, huh?" Edmund threw the head in his left hand until it stopped at Isaac’s feet. "Then, I’ll show you what I can do when the person I love is getting hurt by a jerk like you!"
