Chapter 163: #163-Isabella Lysander’s Explanation

Penelope Askary has never felt this hungry.

She really missed all of the foods in the world. When she was taken away by Philleo Aaron and met Gabriel Brown in that terrible room, Penelope thought she would never be able to touch this food again. Of course, the thing she feared most was that she would never be able to meet Edmund Gerwyn and the twins, Raven and Ocean, again.

"Are you... very hungry?" asked Edmund in an amazed tone. He loved it when Penelope ate passionately like this. However, Edmund was just confused because Penelope didn’t seem to care about her reputation as the Duke’s wife and also as a beautiful young woman. What Edmund meant was, don’t women only eat a little to maintain their dignity in front of men?

"You have no idea," Penelope pointed at Edmund’s remaining food. Currently, everyone was eating at the dining table in Gerwyn’s mansion. Just like Edmund, the others looked confused by Penelope’s appetite and at the same time happy because the woman was eating so well. "I didn’t have time to eat when I received information about Isabel’s condition yesterday. I went straight to the Abelavish empire with you and we had a big fight after that. Then, I disappeared and was kidnapped by Philleo. I also had to witness terrible things and listen to the nonsense of that damn head priest. So, don’t stop me and I want to finish all this food. By the way, aren’t you going to finish your meal, Ed?"

"Why? Do you want it?"

Penelope nodded. "If you do not mind."

"Should I... ask Sarah to bring you some more food?"

Penelope shook her head. "I just want your food."

Edmund pushed his plate towards Penelope and the woman smiled broadly. She glanced at Isabella and Ethan who looked awkward. Both of them smiled at her but it was as if there was a wall limiting interaction between them. Penelope was sure that this was not due to Isabella’s amnesia because the woman knew something about this from the Goddess Elleia.

"Are you okay, Brother?" Penelope asked.

Ethan, who was thinking about Isabella’s lie and didn’t expect Penelope to talk to him, flinched. The man blinked and glanced at Isabella. Then, Ethan cleared his throat and smiled again at his little sister.

"I’m fine, Penny. Why do you ask like that?"

Penelope smiled sweetly. "Because you look like you want to eat my good friend who is sitting next to you, Brother."

Hearing Penelope’s innocent tone, Isabella, who was drinking because she was nervous, choked. The woman coughed and rubbed her chest. Realizing this, Ethan became anxious and panicked. He stood up from the chair and rubbed the nape of Isabella’s neck gently.

"Are you okay, Isabel?" asked Ethan in a worried tone. "Can you breathe well?"

Isabella nodded weakly. Meanwhile, Helios chuckled and winked at Penelope. The Duchess gave a thumbs up while Edmund shook his head in disbelief. It seemed that his little wife deliberately spoke like that just now to lighten the atmosphere between Ethan and Isabella.

"Then," said Penelope in a firm tone. She had finished eating and was wiping her mouth. The woman smiled, making everyone confused and Isabella froze. The woman looked down. For some reason, she felt afraid of Penelope. "Should we finish this now, Isabel? Because, I feel that trivial matters like this must be resolved immediately. We have a lot of things to take care of and they are much more important than your little game."

Edmund raised an eyebrow in confusion. He looked at Isabella. The woman paled in her place. Then, when Edmund saw the expressions of Ethan and Helios, the Duke knew that the two men seemed to understand what Penelope’s words just now meant.

"Wait. Am I the only one who doesn’t know about the problem you are going to talk about now?" asked Edmund. The man grumbled. He really didn’t like being left like this.

Penelope chuckled and held her husband’s hand. She had forgotten her argument with Edmund and didn’t want to talk about it anymore. No, maybe not now. Maybe after she resolved the problem between Isabella and Ethan, she will talk with Edmund. Because, this problem is more or less related to Edmund.

"I... don’t understand what you mean, Penny." Isabella tried to smile.

"I know you don’t have amnesia."

Isabella froze and widened her eyes. She swallowed hard and wet her lips.

"I know you remember my older brother. You remember everything. Because, it seems impossible that you just don’t remember my older brother. And again, someone explained to me about your lies."

Isabella closed her eyes and took a deep breath. If there is someone who knows about this lie, then it is Goddess Elleia. Only the Goddess knows about that because when she made this plan, Goddess Elleia was with her. When Isabella opened her eyes, the woman smiled at Penelope.

"You met Goddess Elleia."

"Because I fainted earlier," Penelope smiled back. "And you met her when you were on the verge of death."

Isabella nodded. She looked at Edmund Gerwyn and smiled again.

"You hate me."

Edmund was silent. The man didn’t know how to react. Edmund really hated Isabella but he couldn’t possibly say it in front of everyone. He didn’t want to embarrass Isabella. Besides, without him saying it, Edmund was sure everyone in the dining room knew about it.

"Because I... made Penelope Askary suffer in our first life, made her an evil woman, and made you kill her."

Ethan, Edmund, and Helios gasped. They didn’t expect Isabella to know about this. Ethan immediately shook his head and cupped Isabella’s face, then turned her face towards him.

"That happened in the past, Isabel. You’re innocent. The you now and the you in the past are two different women."

Isabella smiled bitterly.

"Really? Isn’t that information what made you act cold to me, avoid me, stay away from me, and yell at me?"

Ethan froze. The man let go of Isabella’s face and looked down. He clenched his jaw and gritted his teeth.

"Goddess Elleia told me everything. She also showed me events in my first life when I was in a state of life and death. Then..." Isabella smiled and rubbed her flat stomach. "I met her. A very beautiful and adorable angel. A five-year-old girl who was crying because of my stupid act of wanting to kill the both of us. The child asked me to come back because she wanted to see her Father and Mother. And she also let me know that Ethan Askary was really worried about me."

Ethan raised his face and looked at Isabella. Likewise Penelope and the others.

"I met my daughter. Our daughter. And her name is Ruby Askary."

Penelope smiled broadly and hit Edmund’s shoulder repeatedly while Edmund just stared at Penelope with a lazy look. Helios crossed his arms and looked smugly at Ethan and Isabella. Meanwhile, Ethan looked at Isabella with disbelief. He knelt in front of Isabella and his trembling hand reached out and touched Isabella’s stomach.

"I will have... a daughter...?"

Isabella shed tears and nodded. "She is a very beautiful girl. She has the same hair color as me and the same eye color as you."

Ethan cried too. The man wanted to hug Isabella but the woman avoided him. Then, Isabella stood up. She hugged her stomach as if to protect it from Ethan Askary.

"Isabel?"

"I’m leaving your life, Ethan."

"What...?"

"Me and Ruby. We will disappear from your life." Isabella wiped the tears from her face. She smiled sadly. "You can’t accept the fact that this woman you love killed your little sister in a past life, can you? I understand. I will go as far as possible from you. I also don’t want to ruin Duke Edmund and Penny’s marriage because of my presence." Isabella looked at Penelope. "Penny, I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking in my past life. I—"

"If you feel sorry for me," Penelope said in a firm tone, cutting off Isabella’s sentence. She stood up from the chair. "If you want to atone for your past sins to me, then you must continue to be by my side and by my older brother’s side."

Isabella blinked. "Yes?"

"Stay by our side. Marry my older brother. Ruby Askary, my niece who will be born in nine months, needs her Mom and Dad. I don’t want to see my niece crying. If you feel awkward about my husband, you don’t need to worry. I will take care of my husband. I will hit his head until he can differentiate between the past and the present."

Isabella laughed and cried. The woman didn’t know how to react. She kept nodding and covered her face with both of her hands. Her tiny body trembled. Then, Ethan immediately hugged her and kissed her forehead.

"I’m sorry because I hurt your feelings, Isabel." Ethan whispered in a gentle tone. "I swear I will protect you and our daughter, Ruby."

Seeing that, Edmund snorted. He looked at Penelope who raised an eyebrow and shook her head in amusement at the Duke. Finally, the misunderstanding between Isabella and Ethan was resolved.
