"Mm?", seeing those black flames expand through the mouth of the red giant wolf, Arianna first tried to suffocate the black flames with her red energy and it worked for a moment, allowing the fangs of the wolf to further pierce through the first barrier and reach the second one.

However, the black flames not only returned a couple of seconds later but they even increased their fierceness, ultimately forcing the werewolf girl to cut off the head of the giant red wolf to prevent the black flames from spreading.

’I sensed something like this from the battlefields of the others, specially from mister’s one, but it wasn’t this strong’, thought Ariana as her hair, wolf ears and tail shone in a red light which she used to reconstruct the head of the giant wolf.

Arianna’s senses are only second to Daimon in this place, so from time to time she could feel the rejection caused by the barriers of the altar spells which blocked the attacks of her teammates.

As to why there were differences in the level of "rejection", that’s because Marcus power which used to be divided in more people, concentrated more and more as his subordinates died, that culminated in the black flames that Badr triggered for the first time.

Which had grown even more dangerous now that it was Arianna’s turn to face them, unfortunately they were a bad match for the werewolf girl, because the red giant wolf is a separate entity from her, so Arianna only has to cut off the affected part to prevent the black flames from reaching her, unlike what happened with Badr.

"Crack!", the new head of the wolf proceeded to bite down on the dual layered barrier creating fang shaped holes in them which made the pirates grit their teeth.

"If we are going to do it, it has to be now, before that damn wolf bites its way through the barrier", said the spike-toothed pirate to which the scale handed pirate ultimately nodded.

"Bloodline Devil Altar!", said the two pirates in unison, apparently their altar spells were the same, the resulting altars appearing behind of them were different though, while both were of the "standard" black bone theme, the frontal faces of the altar depicted some kind of eel with large protruding teeth for the chain wielding pirate, while a lizard with spikes on its body was the sculpture in front of the scale handed pirate.

And in case you wonder why those two were hesitating even when being trapped inside the barriers of the altar spells, while Arianna was constantly tearing pieces of said barriers, that’s because of the price they had to pay for their altar spells to activate.

"Life Burn Sacrifice!", with those words, streams of blood mist came out of those two’s bodies making them grit their teeth, they were burning their lifespan to pay for the altar spell.

The blood mist was devoured by the two sculptures at the frontal faces of their respective altars, which then opened their mouths to release small image versions of a lizard and an eel magic beast that were absorbed by the pirates.

The previously suffering expressions on the pirates faces disappeared, as they felt their hearts strongly beat, an insane amount of strength started circulating through their bodies filling them with vigor.

"Boooom!", the ground around the pirates exploded as their mana soared high into the sky, they had previously retrieved their domains, but this wasn’t them manifesting them back, it was just those two releasing mana as the altar spell changed their bodies.

"Blood Awakening, Devil Sea Eel!", the spike-toothed pirate had grown both slender and taller, his teeth now protruded from his mouth as well, but the most important change is that there was electricity running through the fins on his neck.

"Blood Awakening, Devil Sea Lizard!", the scale handed pirate on the other hand gained muscular mass, especially on his arms which were now completely covered in scales, not to mention that he had grown sharp claws as well.

Also, unlike before when the water mana affinity they had only showed when they manifested their domains, as in terms of affinity level it was barely high enough to produce a noticeable result, meaning that they didn’t count as dual affinity mages earlier, they now radiated both their original elemental mana, namely lightning and steel, as well as water mana which gave them that qualification.

It was devil mana though, both the water one as well as the lightning and steel one, which is why the electricity crackling on the fins on the eel pirate was black-yellow colored while the originally dark grey steel mana that the scale handed pirate controlled had turned black colored as well, the devil water mana was navy blue colored instead.

’According to Daimon, there were guys spread within the Maelstrom Sea whose purpose was to become Marcus’s subordinates, so they are the most compatible with the power that guy can give’, thought Arianna as she saw the new "forms" attainted by the enemies.

While Adam had "fateful encounters" arranged for him, Marcus had subordinates that were prepared to be bestowed with power by him, and now they could see the result of the previous.

The original magic beast lineage those two had, was overwritten by a more powerful version of it, which is why they had to pay with lifespan, in truth the bits and chunks of other lineages that were mixed in their bodies were used as fuel but in the process to separate them from their main lineage, namely the eel and sea lizard one, they had to rip parts of their lifespan as payment.

’This is amazing, we lost half of our lifespan in a matter of seconds but gained back around a third of it due to the natural increase brought by our lineages becoming complete and the evolution to a devil race, our realms didn’t change but... I feel way stronger than before!’, excitedly thought the devil eel pirate as he extended his hand which had black-yellow electricity arcs crackling around it.

The reason as to why they didn’t suffer from a permanent backslash like suddenly growing a few years older due to all the lifespan they had lost, is that they gained a longer natural lifespan thanks to their now complete magic beast lineages, they still suffered a loss but the amount was manageable in exchange for the power they had obtained.

Also, this showed how much more compatible they were with the powers Marcus could bestow than others, since even when having to pay a price, they gained something extra in return.

"Crack!", seeing the giant wolf’s right leg completely break through the dual layered barrier, the two pirates no longer showed any sign of fear.

"Booom!", the moment the barrier crumbled apart they exploded in a combination of lightning, steel and water devil mana to then charge towards Arianna.

"Clang!", sparks as well as the sounds of metals colliding were the result of their weapons clashing against the wolf’s claws, with the difference that they now could not only match the brutal physicals strength produced by the red giant wolf, but when working together they actually were forcing Arianna to retreat.

"So, this what those pampered noble bastards from the Mermen Sea have been enjoying all this time, damn it we definitely have to go back and refine them into potions and pills for this!", exclaimed the sea devil lizard pirate.

The mixed races from the Maelstrom Sea often descended from exiles that escaped from the Mermen Sea, among them nobles whose houses fell or contenders for a clan’s head position that lost the battle for succession are quite common, not to mention bandits or criminals in general.

Add to that the fact that the other majority are magic beasts from the Maelstrom Sea that had taken human form and paired up with the previously mentioned people and you get generational hatred towards the Mermen Sea by those guys, which results in them becoming pirates who are the main enemy of the Clear Water Kingdom.

Well, unknown to them the truth is that there was a third kind of origin for the ancestors of the current habitants of the Maelstrom Sea, which were people that ended stranded due to the space rifts that sometimes opened in the past, Daimon’s theory is that some "devil race" descendants entered Neptune that way and now Marcus gathered them under his banner, which is why these two could now produce their own devil mana.

"Crack!", the pirates weren’t accustomed to their newly gained strength, so in a moment of carelessness they ended up damaging the magic weapons they were given, namely their throwing knives and the spiked chain, alongside the claws of the red energy wolf.

"Tsk, whatever these things are useless now", both pirates threw their magic weapons aside, they were only Lord ranked treasures since the restrictions of the Blood Prison realm were harsher on inanimate objects when compared to living beings.

"Devil Lighting Chain!", the devil eel pirate extended his right hand and black-yellow electricity gathered to form a spiked mana chain.

"Devil Sea Chain!", he repeated the process with his left hand this time and with the difference that it was water devil mana the one that formed the second chain.

"Acid Wave Splitting Lash!", with a wave of his left hand, the devil eel pirate lashed the water mana chain towards the red giant wolf.

"Hssss!", the devil water mana apparently had corroding properties so when Arianna used the right paw of the red giant wolf to block, the chain produced sizzling sounds upon contact with it, to then slowly but surely melt its way into the leg of the red giant wolf.

"Thunder Shock Lightning Lash!", what followed was the lightning devil mana chain landing on the area affected by the water devil mana chain.

"Booom!", as if a thunder had gone off, when the two different devil mana chains made contact a loud explosion followed by a strong shockwave expanded through the vicinity, blasting away the whole right frontal leg of the giant red wolf.

"Devil Sea Knives!", not it was the turn of the sea devil lizard pirate, he made dozens of navy-blue mana knives appear at his left, while he repeated the same but this time with steel devil mana.

"Devil Steel Knives!", fully armed, the pirate flashed from his previous position to then appear behind the red giant wolf.

"Melting Water Knife Throw!", with a wave of his left hand, the devil sea lizard pirate threw all he waters mana knives towards the red giant wolf’s hind legs, piercing through the outer layer of energy to then make the areas that surrounded the knives sizzle.

"Shredding Steel Knife Throw!", the weakened connection between the wolf’s hind legs and its main body was then forcefully severed by a stream of black metal knives and only then did those two regrouped.

It’s worth mentioning that the mana weapons they had created didn’t disappear, they retrieved them and simply recharged the mana that they lost due to the previous exchange.

They did so, because though they were easily able to damage the red energy giant wolf, it also recovered with the same easiness, as the new legs conformed of red energy that just grew to replace the ones that were lost, suggested.

’Now we don’t have to fear a battle of attrition, because there is no way she isn’t using more energy to reconstruct that damn wolf, than the mana we need to maintain our weapon spells’, thought the sea devil lizard pirate to then nod at his teammate.

"Sea Devil Step!", both used the same movement spell, one which used water devil mana by the way, disappearing from plain sight the plan was now set up, they were going to mangle the red energy wolf from every direction with their mana weapons until the enemy became visible to then attack her.

"Acid Wave Splitting Lash!", the sea devil eel pirate who appeared above the red giant wolf sent the water devil mana its way, this time he aimed to hold onto the stomach and back of the red giant wolf, the idea was to corrode it and then use the lightning devil mana chain to snap it in half, that would reduce the area of protection allowing his companion to create an opening with his knives.

"Clang!", unfortunately what the devil eel pirate expected didn’t happen, after melting the outer layer of the red giant wolf, the chain couldn’t further sink into it, as it was obstructed by... bones.

Well, they were bones constructed with red energy to be more accurate, the point is that they were way solider than the rest of the body of the red giant wolf, so the chain got stuck there.

"What!", this naturally took the devil eel pirate by surprise, so now imagine his expression when he suddenly felt an insane force pulling him downwards, smacking him against the ground the next second.

During his fall, he managed to see how the red wolf used its right paw to pull on the water mana chain which was wrapped around his left arm, and that’s why he was shot down from the sky.

’How, we had already tested our new strength against hers, even if it took the two of us to force her backwards, our individual strength wasn’t losing to hers that much!’, is what passed through the mind of the sea devil eel pirate as he was about to land on the ground a moment ago.

"Crack!", the impact was so strong that a large crater appeared and the pirate was sent deep into the solid black soil ground, which could also translate to the strength behind his fall, being that big, despite the wolf only using its right paw to effortlessly pull on the chain.

"Luis!", the sea devil lizard pirate naturally didn’t sit still and flashed towards his teammate.

"Melting Water Knife Throw!", unlike the mana chain used by the devil eel pirate, the devil lizard pirate used knives to target separated spots and then spread the corrosion effect of the devil water mana so even if the red giant wolf now had "bones", it won’t help blocking dozens of knives, unless the enemy created bone armor, but that didn’t seem to be case given that from the outside the bones actually matched with those of a real wolf, what blocked the chain from sinking into the middle body of the red energy wolf were the spine and the lower ribs after all.

"Clang!", however and very much to the displease of the devil sea lizard pirate, his knives which were thrown at the chest and neck area of the red giant wolf all landed but were rejected without going even a few centimeters into the body of the wolf, producing countless clinking sounds, it seemed as if they had hit a steel plank given that their tips and edges were now chipped.

"Why the surprise, didn’t you know that vitality gathering and solidifying results in "bones" and "muscles" this much is more than normal", casually said the werewolf girl whose hair, tail and ears were shinning in a bright red light even within the wolf.

Only now did the sea devil lizard pirate realize what was what blocked his knives which obviously weren’t aimed at any of the visible giant bones within the wolf’s body, there were many thin "threads" that had appeared on the right paw of the wolf as well as on its chest and neck.

Those were "muscle fibers", which unlike the bones that increased the defense and stability of the red giant wolf, increased strength instead, that’s how Arianna smacked the devil eel pirate into the ground so easily, and since the muscles covered larger areas than the bones, that’s how the water knives which lacked piercing power were rejected as well.

And this was also Arianna, finally using the best technique she had obtained, namely the capacity to give form to the excess of vitality she could produce thanks to the ability she obtained after passing her challenge, at Arch rank level.

Basically, she was using bio boosting not on herself but on the wolf, reinforcing and injecting more energy into its construction to empower it.

Which obviously required way more vitality than just the "spirit" version of the wolf as she had decided to call the version of it in which she just gives form to a mass of red energy like before, since she has to construct much more refined and complex parts like bones and muscles, which is why though she could already create the whole skeleton of the wolf, she only covered certain parts with the energy muscles.

"Crack!", the result is totally worth it though, as the now solid teeth of the wolf which just bit through the water devil mana chain, destroying the spell with ease, suggested.

"Devil Sea Eel Scale Armor!", the devil eel pirate who was finally returning to the battlefield, was covered in devil water mana for a second before really small scales grew on his arms, all the way to his chest and neck, as he activated the previous spell.

The magic beast aura he radiated sky-rocketed on the spot as he stimulated his beast traits, in this case the scales that were spread here and there to form a visible layer which now started secreting navy blue water.

"Hsssss!", upon contact with the ground, sizzling sounds were released as the water created corroded puddles.

"Don’t hesitate, she wasn’t fighting at Arch rank level earlier, I nearly had my neck broken by that attack a moment ago", said the devil eel pirate whose eyes were bloodshot now.

"Damn it, Devil Sea Lizard Shredding Tail!", for the devil lizard pirate, the result of stimulating his lineage was growing a tail which had metal spikes on it, his claws were also covered in metal now.

"Heh, are you two trying to imitate me", said Arianna as she saw the pirates suddenly putting a lot of focus in their beast traits which were now brimming with devil water mana, it sounded plausible considering the fact that Arianna’s energy focused in her claws, hair, ears and tail when she used large amounts of it.

"Devil Scale Storm Chain!", small scales detached from the arms of the devil eel pirate to then explode in a combination of water and lightning mana which formed a chain around his body.

"Devil Tail Shredding Knives!", as for the devil sea lizard pirate, water and steel mana cladded the spikes that protruded from his tail, like with magic beasts, their own bodies were their weapons now.

"Devil Storm Lash!", the devil eel pirate pointed his hand towards Arianna and the water and lightning mana chain which was created with the scales that detached from his arms as its nodes, extended and lashed towards the giant wolf, colliding against its claws which were now solid, the next second.

"Boooom!", the water and lightning chain produced a mana explosion upon contact with the wolf’s solid claws, ultimately resulting in a navy-blue, dark-yellow and red energy cloud expanding with the point of contact as its center.
