Reincarnated as the Baron's son: My Infinite Card Upgrade System-Chapter 91: Upgrade the lizard
Alaric made his way back to the group, in his hand was the lizard, swarming around in a desperate act to escape.
Arriving where they were, he noticed Ava and Auzure were standing a distance apart from one another while looking in opposite directions.
"What are you two doing?" Alaric asked as he stood at a point.
"Lord Alaric, you’re back!"
"Master, hold Auzure!"
They both said in unison before sending death stares at one another.
Alaric sighed. If he was to ask what was going on, he knew there was a chance he would get into another one of their dramas.
"Anyway, I found what was causing all the commotion in the cave. It was this thing right here, a Cave Lizard." Alaric stretched the lizard forward.
"Oh? It looks edible," Auzure said, her finger finding its way into her mouth.
The lizard froze in fear, sweating bullets in the air.
"This small thing? The workers said the monster let out a growl. Can something so small do that?" Ava pulled closer.
"Well, I was shocked as well when I saw the monster. But there’s no mistaking it, this really is the monster." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"What are you going to do to it? Would you like me to eliminate it for you?"
"Eliminate?" the lizard said with a shaky voice, although only Alaric could hear him.
"Uhmm, you think so?" Alaric said with a thoughtful face, as if thinking about making it an option.
"Think?!" The lizard looked at Alaric.
"Auzure can eat it if you want, Master."
The lizard finally reached its breaking limit and began to cry, "I begged, didn’t I?! Please don’t kill me! Anything but that! Please!"
"You’ll do anything?!" Alaric moved his face closer to the lizard, a devious look on his face.
Ava and Auzure stood there, watching as Alaric spoke to the lizard as if able to understand it.
"Yes, yes! I’ll do anything! You want me to go far away from your kingdom?! I’ll do that! Just please don’t kill me!" yelled the lizard.
"Oh, sending you far away doesn’t benefit me in any way. Instead, how about I strike a deal with you?"
The lizard calmed down. "Yes, yes, do that!"
"In exchange for me not killing you, I want you to work for me," said Alaric.
"Uhm?!"
The Cave Lizard was confused.
"Work for you?"
"Yes. See, I need this place for something very important, so I want you to protect this place for me while I am away."
Now the lizard was even more confused. Leaving aside the fact that it was smaller than Alaric’s foot, it also didn’t have any attributes that would make it useful for protecting anything.
"Can’t you see how small I am? You are grabbing me with one hand! How do you expect me to protect anything?!"
Alaric didn’t bother arguing with the monster. He simply stretched it towards Auzure.
"Here, you can eat it."
Auzure wasted no time as she opened her mouth as wide as she could to accommodate the lizard.
"Ahhhh! I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I’m listening! I’m listening!"
Alaric pulled the lizard back.
"If I make you strong enough to protect this place, I want you to make an oath and stick to your duty. Do we have a deal?"
The lizard looked to the side. "Sure, sure, of course."
"Good."
Alaric placed the lizard on the ground.
Honestly, he had expected the lizard to try and make a break for it, but fortunately for the lizard, it remained still.
Alaric sat down on the ground.
’System, give me an upgrade card for this Cave Lizard,’ he uttered in his mind.
Ava already had an idea of what Alaric was about to do. It was the same thing he did to her—the power that turned her from a weak fighter into one of the top Diamond Knights in the entire kingdom.
’Is he going to use it?’ she questioned, her eyes filled with curiosity.
With a bing, the template appeared in front of Alaric.

’Weakest in the race? Wow, the lizard wasn’t even joking about that,’ Alaric thought to himself. ’Sigh! Hopefully, it’s stronger after I take it to Diamond Rank.’
Click!
Alaric tapped the button with his finger.
[You have purchased the Cave Lizard Card.]
[Would you like to upgrade it?]
’Yes, take it all the way to Diamond Rank.’
[Upgrading to Diamond Rank would cost 400,000 CP.]
[Shall I proceed?]
’Sure.’
[Notice! The Cave Lizard Card has been upgraded to Diamond Rank.]
Just then, the Cave Lizard felt its body glowing as it began to grow larger.
"Ahh! What is happening to me?!" it shouted, panicking at the sudden energy swelling inside its body.
After a while of intense power, the once four-legged monster was now a human.
Though it still had a bit of scales on its arms and neck.
Still... it was human.
"Oh shit! What happened to my body?! My head is so far from the ground!" the lizard-human yelled.
Ava and Auzure were too calm for comfort, mostly because they were used to seeing extraordinary things from Alaric.
[New skills Cave Lizard has acquired:]
[Fast Strike]
[Death Presence]
[Regeneration]
[Combat Abilities]
Alaric smiled. ’Would you look at that? I made the weakest monster a beast to be reckoned with. Heheh~ hehehe~’ he giggled silently.
"What did you do to me?!" the lizard-human yelled, this time facing Alaric.
The only difference was that his curiosity had taken over his fear.
"I did as I told you. I made you stronger. Now you’re far stronger than anyone from your clan... I think," Alaric stood up.
"What? You’re pulling my tail, right?"
"Oh no, I’m being for real. If you don’t believe me, you can try going back there and enslaving those that wronged you. You have my word—you won’t lose."
The lizard-man teared up. "No, you’re lying."
"I will never lie! Not to someone who has been oppressed all their life! Trust me, do as I say. I promise you won’t regret it. Go and have your revenge. You are a new person—I am sure you can feel it too."
And though he had a positive look on his face, Ava already knew Alaric was plotting something.
