Chapter 75: Ambushed.

"Push!!!"

Alaric yelled, watching as seven workers all pushed the giant wooden wheel across the neighborhood.

The wheel was about the height of four grown men standing on top of one another and weighed about 500 kg.

On the other side, some of the workers were carrying giant gears and metals, each one carefully crafted by the blacksmiths currently working in the barony.

Alaric had spent nights thinking of a way he could make his project work with the absence of copper and other general materials he needed.

Like always, he came up with an alternative.

"Lord Alaric..." Ava showed up, Hina walking right behind her.

He looked at them, his hand immediately finding its way to his waist. "Did you find it?" he asked.

"Yes, it took us a while though," Hina replied.

"For some reason, the goblins moved their homes from the outer forest and went deeper into it. Perhaps they were running from something," Ava added.

Knowing damn well he was the cause of it after raiding their homes to collect crystals for the wooden fridge, Alaric instantly gave out a nervous chuckle.

"Whatever the case is, you’ve found their nest, right? Is it loaded?" he asked.

"I could not fully determine if it was the crystal you were requesting, but they seem to have a ton of different kinds," Ava said.

This led to Alaric smiling.

He grabbed a stick on the ground and gently rested it on his shoulder. "Very good. Now then...let’s go steal from these goblins."

...

It took them some minutes to arrive at the goblins’ nest.

Unlike the last time, the goblins seemed to have secured their abode with large spikes and barricades, keeping intruders out unless allowed to come in.

Alaric, who had already found his way up a tree to get a bird’s eye view of their nest, watched as the goblins gently placed different objects inside the deep pit.

"How do these green guys here gather so many things, and from where?" he muttered.

"One of the seven wonders—no one knows where goblins find their items. All we know is they always have valuable stuff stored in their treasures."

Hina had her back rested on the tree Alaric was on.

"I see. Well, it doesn’t actually matter because I can already see the crystals I need."

And he was in no way joking.

Using his skill, {Super Eyesight}, he was able to see miles into the deep pit, where he spotted the Temrola crystals.

These were powerful crystals that were known to create high voltage when sparked together.

It was said during the times of the demon lord, demons would use them as a means to torture the humans they had captured, as it would inflict pain but not enough to kill them.

"I’m surprised these crystals even exist. They were lost after the war. Useless for the most part," Hina sighed. "You really are a strange man, my lord."

"One man’s food is another man’s poison, as they do say. Ava should be there any time now. I’m sure she’ll handle this quickly."

Tap!

"Hina? What are you doing up here? Go back down." Alaric moved his shoulder a bit, his eyes still focused on the goblins’ nest.

"Down? I’m not..." Hina looked up, her eyes instantly widening as soon as she noticed a goblin was already on the tree with Alaric.

"Goblin!" she shouted.

Before Alaric could turn around and check—

Baaaam!

He received a whack to the face.

The attack sent him flying and landing right in the middle of the goblins.

Hina, who had wanted to move, found herself surrounded by multiple other goblins, each one having their arrows aimed at her.

’What the hell?!’

Alaric found himself on the floor, but it wasn’t just that.

All around him were goblins, their gaze so stiff you’d think they were looking at the world’s ugliest man.

Their leader, the goblin king, sat down on his twig throne, giving a pitiful look at the young man who was foolish enough to trespass on his turf.

’Ahh, fuck...don’t tell me I fell down right in the enemy’s territory. I don’t wanna raise my head. Fuck, where is Ava? Kill these bastards already.’

Unbeknownst to him, Ava, who was set to ambush them, had already fallen into the goblins’ trap.

She was hanging upside down from a tree, her body wrapped with weird vines that rendered her immobile.

Still lying flat on the floor, Alaric began to listen to the goblins speak.

**Hahnjabauana** (Is this the ugly man that came last time?)

The goblin king spoke.

**Hhinaona** (Yes, bubm can remember his face well.)

A goblin replied. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

**Hainwina** (Tsk! I say we kill him now! We already have the female trapped at the back. She thought she was slick or something.)

Alaric could not believe his ears. They were able to capture Ava?

**’Shit!’** He held down his scream.

**Janknakman** (The ugly human has not risen from the ground. Perhaps he’s dead.)

The goblin king uttered.

Uahaj? Bayanajan (Dead? If he’s dead, then so be it. Give me the honor of eating his hand first since I was the one that spotted them before they got here.)

’Eh?’

**Lnakanainjaj** (You are right. Go ahead, but only eat to his elbow.)

’Wait? Eh?’

**Iahaja** (Thank you.)

Everywhere went silent.

Alaric wasn’t sure about what was happening, but he knew he needed to act fast.

The feeling of the goblin’s hand on his skin was what triggered the last string of composure he had within him.

**"Cannibal! The fuck?!!!"**

He jerked up from the ground, yanking his arm from the goblin’s grasp before taking a few steps back.

Now up, he could get a good view of the goblins around him.

He was outnumbered, about a hundred to one.

Each goblin already had their weapons aimed and ready to attack, and from the looks of things, they were no longer D ranks, instead already CC.

**Gulp!**

Alaric took a second to straighten his dress, and then he spoke...

"Hello, my name is Alaric Montclair. May I speak to your leader?"
