Reincarnated as the Baron's son: My Infinite Card Upgrade System-Chapter 74: Alaric the threat.
(Count Ernesto)
"What do we have here? It quite rare for you to seek my audience. I want to assume something has happened that would peak my interest?" Velmo said with a straight face while seated on his throne.
Sima was right behind him as always.
But the one who stood before them was the Platinum ranked assassin, Gabimaru.
Dressed in all black with a mask covering his nose, he spoke...
"I only felt I should report this to you myself as I do not trust my subordinates to do a good job."
"You do not trust your subordinates to relay a message to me?" Velmo scoffed a bit.
"They can be quite unless."
"Hahah, still as blunt as always. Go on, let me hear the news you have for me."
Gabimaru took a quick glimpse at Sima, due to his line of work, be wasn’t used to giving out confidential information without a third person being active.
He didn’t have a choice.
"I was told your guest had returned to their homes." Gabimaru began.
"They are to return after gathering the resources they need. What of it?" Velmo leaned to the right, finding a more comfortable position.
It didn’t take Sima long to know they were heading towards Alaric.
"I see. I did tell your assistant to inform me when they leave." Gabimaru uttered, "I guess they don’t build them like they used to."
Sima cracked, her annoyance visible on her face but she immediately kept a cool. It was exactly professional for her to rage while her master was having a discussion.
"Oh, you’ve found interest in the boy as well?" Velmo smiled.
"Uhm...I had expected you’d have hunch...seems like you don’t."
"..."
"This Alaric fellow... I suggest we kill him, while we still have the chance."
Both Velmo and Sima were shock driven.
"What?!" Sima accidently let out before covering mouth.
"Gabimaru... I want to believe you have a good reason for saying something so heinous." Velmo was dead serious with his words.
"I’m sure you noticed it too. Every single one of that man’s followers were Diamond rank. Their aura is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Do you not find it strange that they were all diamond? Despite how rare it is for people to get to that rank?"
Velmo kept quiet.
"At first the rank placed me off guard, I was curious to know what type of person would have three powerful people following his every word. Then I realized, one of his followers was not flesh... She was a spirit."
"What?"
"There’s no other explanation. My right eye, has a special skill that lets me determine the source of the aura of beings around me..."
Just as he spoke, he activated it, allowing his eyes to have a deep blue glow.
Having manifesting his ability, he was able to determine the aura of both Velmo and Sima.
For regular beings, the aura around them mostly takes the form of regular animals, be it chickens, snakes, depending on how powerful said Individual was.
But the moment aura takes the form of, from Unicorn, to ancient beast, Gabimaru knows they are either beings or higher form, or simply extremely overpowered.
When he looked at Aurora and Laura, while Aurora’s aura had the shape of an godly wolf, Rupa, Laura had no shape, her aura was that of the wind itself.
Gabimaru explained this to Velmo.
"You mean to tell me... Alaric, has a spirit under him?" Velmo tried to confirm, still finding it hard to believe.
Spirits were known to be extremely powerful beings that had existed in the world since the beginning of time.
Having powers and authorities that riveled those of the gods and legendary beasts.
Not only was it rare for a human to make a contract with a spirit, it was also had for said human to control it as most would have crumbled mentally into madness.
Yet...
"I am 100% sure of it." Gabimaru replied, "I say this with confidence, if Alaric was to decide he wanted to take over the entire county, I assure you, we all will not stand a chance."
Velmo face twisted into the mixture of shock and fear.
For Gabimaru of all people to say this... It must be true.
"There is something suspicious about that man. If left unchecked he could prove to be an issue in the future. I once again suggest we get rid of him while we have the chance." Gabimaru let out.
Sima on the other hand, was not having any of it.
"And you lay these claims based on what? Your fear?" She spoke, eyes locked in the assassin.
Gabimaru gave her the attention she seeked.
"Alaric Montclair is not your regular human, as you assured my master, I shall also assure you. That man has completely convinced himself he can always win and no one is anywhere near the level he is to think of stopping him. What’s scarier, is he is absolutely right, and yet, he never uses his power as a means to oppress anyone... Why do you think that is?"
Gabimaru replied instantly...
"He hasn’t found a reason to."
"I’m glad you realize that. If you go disturbing a sleeping lion in its den, don’t be surprised if it rips you apart. Let that man be, if you value the peace we have right now." Sima spoke, not a single hint of hesitation.
At first Velmo was confused, he was sure Sima hated men, she wasn’t the type to defend them, regardless of it they were right or wrong.
Perhaps she only did it because she was worried about the safety of the county, in other words, even she knew Alaric was a threat.
Hahahahaha!
Velmo laughed out loud from nowhere where.
This made Gabimaru and Sima seize their staring contest and turn to their lord.
"This is quite interesting. One man is making my whole county worried." Velmo calmed his laughs, his eyes now facing the ceiling, "I wonder...what kind of man are you...Alaric Montclair."
