Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 305: Crocodile
Chapter 305: Chapter 305: Crocodile
Kael walked through the parting crowd of creatures with Priya following shortly behind. He felt the spatial ripples faintly brush up on his body, a sign that Katari had returned.
He used his secondary conciseness to control the body of Sherone and led the zebras through the land on the other side of the river.
A group of owls led by one big fiery owl followed the zebra herd from above, keeping an eye on them.
The zebras didn’t know that this new Sherone was maintaining a steady telepathic communication between him and the owl above. The owl caste leader was leading Sherone in the direction of the super mega herd.
Over at the river, Kael reached the edge of the riverside with Priya behind him. Looking around, his army formed a wall of horns and fangs that barricaded the riverside.
The crocodiles in the river were silent, they could see the horde of agitated creatures, but they just acted like nothing was happening.
The river went calm and the water seemed to flow normally again. Only the small pieces of flesh and the fading clouds of blood was evidence of what had happened before now.
Standing at the edge of the riverside, the collective aura of the beastly horde was nothing to ignore. It was ten times heavier than whatever the zebras had shown.
And these creatures, unlike the zebras, didn’t seem particularly interested in crossing the river. Rather, they looked very interested in the river itself.
Or perhaps, they were interested in what was inhabiting the river. Some looked scared but they looked more ready to bite to death whatever dared to come out of this river.
Kael’s paws pressed upon the soft and wet soil close to the river, the bottom of his paws had begun to get wet. With a thought, his spirit sense spread over the river, observing every single ripple and current.
He could ’see’ the crocodiles close to the surface but those that were below, he couldn’t detect them clearly. That was because there was a spirit crocodile here that was working to hide its presence with a blanket technique, this technique also affected a significant part of the river, hiding some crocodiles from him.
Kael had other ways to deal with the issue but decided to wait first.
And as he expected, one hungry crocodile would not be able to hold itself anymore and would rashly attack.
*SPLASH!*
Two long and black jaws lunged out of the calm waters, latching onto the neck of a red-furred wolf who had not seen the ambush coming.
The wolf howled in fright as metal teeth sank into his neck. Flames burst out of his body as he struggled to hold himself on land and prevent the crocodile from dragging him into the water.
The black-scaled crocodile swishes his tail from left to right, trying hard to drag the wolf into the water. This was not an ordinary wolf and it had a lot more strength than the average zebra, but the crocodile was confident in bringing it in.
Whether it would have succeeded or not, no one would ever know. How could the other creatures stand and watch as his bold crocodile who didn’t value his life, try to kill their comrade?
Like a hurricane of killing intent, wolves, foxes, and bears pounced on the body of the exposed crocodile. Irrespective of what they felt, they cawed and hit hard on the body of the crocodile, using their weight to keep it down and prevent it from running.
While they were still ripping at the crocodile, other creatures were running over to contribute their claws and fangs to the carnage.
Kael’s head turned slightly as he looked at what was happening with an interested gaze.
The black crocodile, being barraged from all sides, had to let go of the flaming wolf so that he could defend himself. But even then, it wasn’t going to matter as the claws had already begun to treat the sides of his body.
After they discovered that his metal-boned back was too tough to be damaged easily, they naturally moved to the softer sides of his body.
Before he knew it, one of the bears roared angrily, then used his front limbs to push the crocodile until he had completely flipped the large reptile on its back.
The black crocodile’s legs swerved in the air and his tail splashed in the water as he struggled to get back up but the bears and foxes descended on him. His belly was instantly torn open and his guts were shredded to pieces.
Kael looked away, losing interest after he saw the bloody metallic ribs of the crocodile.
He turned his attention to the river to see that many crocodiles and propped their heads out of the water and were observing their comrade being eaten alive.
"River dwellers!" Kael’s deep telepathic voice spread out, entering the minds of everyone, including the crocodiles.
All the crocodiles stirred in the water as they focused their sights on the big golden lion standing in front of the horde. He looked like a commander and was giving off an oppressive aura.
"I am King Kael, leader of the Ol-mytee Clan and in extension, the kingdom it governs.
I have conquered multiple creatures and claimed many as my subordinates. I come now with an offer at heart, no need to beat around the bush.
I want you to join my kingdom, ascending to the ranks of one of the many castes under our protection, the Crocodile Caste.
I extend an invitation in person, submit and all will be fine.
If you refuse, that will not just be an insult to me, but to the creatures who have submitted to me. It is like saying they were stupid to make the same decision.
Whether you feel like you are better than them is up to your decision..."
Kael’s words were just as bad as they sounded. Not all creatures were smart enough to decipher the intention behind his words but they were able to feel the effects.
If the crocodiles refused to submit, it would be an insult to the king and the beastly horde. Did the crocodiles fancy themselves better than the bears, wolves, birds, foxes, and birds that had submitted to Kael? How audacious.
As the river region descended into silence, Kael’s spirit sense stretched to find that the elephants, which had been journeying with them from the forest border, were no longer present.
Elephants were not built for long-term chases anyway. Priya had ordered them to look for other elephant herds and work toward assimilating them into the Elephant Caste.
It was good that they were focused on other things that they could achieve for the kingdom.
While Kael was thinking of the elephants, a few meters in front of him, the water rippled slightly.
A large blue crocodile slowly swam toward Kael with suppressed killing intent. It made sure to slow itself down so as not to reveal any ripples on the surface of the flowing river.
He set his eyes focused on the golden lion, inching closer and closer until he was just below Kael’s chin. His reptilian eyes which rested on top of his long head stared closely at the massive golden lion, ignoring the oppressive aura and focusing on his maned neck. freewebnøvel.coɱ
Then, there was silence. Nothing happened, a second passed by. It seems like Kael was still waiting for an answer.
However, killing intent began to accumulate within his calm golden eyes. He licked his mouth, seemingly unaware of the ’danger’ that was close.
The blue crocodile paused, measuring the time it took for one to drop his guard. He estimated that Kael was relaxed when he saw him lick his mouth and use it as a sign to strike.
Even before he attacked, he had already received multiple orders from his superiors to attack immediately.
...
*SPLASH!*
Dark blue long jaws burst out of the water, heading straight for Kael’s neck. But what the crocodile envisioned was not what happened.
Out of nowhere, a massive metal-clawed golden paw descended on his head from above.
*BOOM!*
A shockwave spread from the point 9f impact through the ground and into the river. The land vibrated terribly and a crater had been formed.
The crocodile’s head exploded into multiple fragments of skull, teeth, and blue scales.
Kael’s paw slammed into the destroyed soil, pieces of the earth shot into the sky and the water in front of him fiercely parted into two sides.
The body of the large blue crocodile went limp, he had lost his life and probably didn’t know how he died. A lot of the scales on his back had been peeled off by the force of that attack, leaving his body looking grotesque.
Space twisted fiercely as another surge of killing intent spiked out of nowhere. Katari in her less than three-meter tall lioness form appeared right beside Priya. Her face was emotionless as her eyes fell on the crocodiles within the river.
Priya didn’t seem disturbed by Katari’s sudden appearance. Her eyes were narrowed as she failed to conceal her displeasure. The claws which she barely showed had come out and an audible growl escaped from her throat.
Kael looked down at the body of the crocodile who just ambushed him. His eyes were unbelievably cold as he made a decision.
