Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 304: Mind Control
Chapter 304: Chapter 304: Mind Control
Sherone appeared right in the center of the beastly horde, to his surprise. He looked around to see that many fangs were bared and claws were exposed in reaction to his presence.
He could feel the predatory gazes of so many meat eaters, he felt like he had just been thrust into a very hot pot right now. His eyes darted from left to right and his muscles tensed.
He would have moved except that there was no place to run to, every single angle was covered. There were even some eagles, crows, and owls, watching him from above.
Standing in front of him, the entity that covered most of his vision and drew most of his attention was the golden lion.
Sherone had seen lions before, but he had never seen a lion this massive. This golden lion was literally bigger than him, he didn’t know lions could get bigger than zebras.
The lion had soft, slightly pale, gold fur and a full mane that was dark gold in color.
His front limbs that Sherone could see were like pillars of strength, thick and full of might.
The lion stepped forward, his paw softly landing on the ground in front of him. No claws were exposed but judging from the size, Sherone estimated that the claws would easily be able to kill him in one slash.
Sherone raised his vision slightly so that he could look at the face of the approaching lion. For that brief moment, he stared at Kael directly in the eye, bearing witness to those beautiful golden irises.
Sherone felt as though he was in the presence of a ruler, a master of all beasts, the king. He felt Kael’s oppressive aura, whispering for him to sit still and be submissive.
Sherone mindlessly took a step back, seeing that the golden lion was getting close.
*BARK!*
His action of taking a step back earned him the maddening barks of the wolves and foxes that were watching him. Their mouths had saliva dripping from the edges as they snapped their jaws at the back legs of the muscular zebra.
And these weren’t ordinary creatures either. Most of the creatures in their presence were tier 2 wolves or three-tailed foxes.
Not to mention that there were some tier 3 equivalents hanging around.
Sherone couldn’t see himself fighting against all of them at once and coming out alive.
The barking caused him to stop and look behind him, sure enough, if he moved any closer, those wolves might have bitten him.
But he didn’t know that the barkers were more annoyed at the fact that he dared to step back when their king walked toward him.
He should be bowing his head as a sign of respect, yet here he was, fretting and looking around for a way to escape.
"Be calm," A deep voice entered Sherone’s head, followed by a wave of spirit energy that wrecked past his psychological walls and infiltrated his mind.
The voice came from the golden lion in front of him. Sherone suddenly started to feel calmer and his mind became a bit foggy.
He still had his fear and his heart continued to beat faster than ever. The strange happenings in his mind even caused him to panic more. But his body began to relax and his breathing became stable, all against his will.
"I am King Kael, the leader of this horde. From now on, you shall serve my will, by reason or by force." Kael’s words struck the depths of Sherone’s mind, destroying all mental trauma and blocks that would prevent him from submitting.
Kael showed no mercy, he didn’t just stop there, his spirit energy drilled deep into Sherone’s psyche to form a beacon, or a seed, something like an ethereal antenna.
Kael’s mind became the remote.
Sherone’s eyes were wide open as he became dazed and fell into a trance. He saw his memories being rewritten before being returned to their original once again, leaving nothing changed.
Transparent grey strings stitched themselves to form different control infrastructures within his mind. And slowly, he lost himself and his sense of being.
His memories were being extracted and the gaps were being replaced with those spirit infrastructures. He was gradually losing his sense of self. No matter how hard he wanted to fight it, he couldn’t.
It felt like he was going to sleep, everything was becoming grey. What he was feeling was his consciousness being deleted from his mind and another Consciousness replacing it.
Kael looked down at the zebra coldly. This was the leader who had come up with that simple escape plan. Upon forcefully reading Sherone’s memories after extracting them, he realized that the plan wasn’t that complicated and it depended a lot on experience for past migrations.
He also saw that this zebra had fought many battles, mostly against predators, and he had won some of them, killing his enemies. But there were some battles where he fought briefly before running away.
It was why he was able to live for so long, only to have his mind completely destroyed by Kael.
Kael stepped away so that he could give room for his work.
Sherone moved again, except this time, his movements were a bit clumsy and he almost fell. The lost look in his eyes began to clear and his body began to straighten up. freewēbnoveℓ.com
However, Sherone no longer looked scared. Instead, he looked at Kael as though he was looking at a mirror, with curiosity.
His eyes glimmered with a faint greyish-hold glow before the light receded.
Now, Kael could see things from two perspectives. One was the main perspective in his main body, and the secondary perspective was what he was seeing through Sherone’s eyes.
Kael had completely taken over the zebra’s mind and replaced it with a puppet Consciousness of his own.
This puppet’s Consciousness wasn’t actually conscious and it depended fully on the main consciousness to project its will into it.
This was the power that spirit-based creatures possessed, just me of them.
Priya stared at the muscular zebra with a mixed expression. She too was capable of pulling off his technique, and she could even do it on a much bigger scale than what Kael was currently showing.
It’s just that she was softer in her methods. Kael was ruthless.
Not only did he insert a puppet Consciousness , but he also extracted the memories, basically killing the real Sherone.
If Priya wanted to control the minds of any creature, she wouldn’t go down as far as wiping out their Consciousness .
Sure, the presence of two Consciousness within one mind could cause a lot of conflicts and difficulties when controlling the mind, perhaps that was why Kael just eliminated Sherone’s concussion.
But Priya preferred not to take that route unless it was necessary. It was her nature. She could only stare at Kael doing this with mixed feelings because she understood Kael, this was his nature.
He wanted unquestionable and unconditional control. Even then, she still had a secret desire to change him.
There was nothing left of Sherone within this zebra body anymore, what was there was Kael’s Consciousness . And once Kael was done with Sherone’s mind, it would naturally become useless.
Kael controlled Sherone’s body, delegating the subconscious to things like breathing, walking, blinking, and the rest.
"Katari, I’m done," Kael’s telepathic voice spread out. By now, Priya was sure that Katari was here.
Suddenly, space began to distort around the zebra again before ’Sherone’ disappeared from everyone’s view.
Now that Sherone was gone, Kael returned his main focus to the river. The creatures parted ways as he and Priya walked to the river.
Meanwhile,
On the other side of the river, where the wet zebras were standing around restlessly, the male leaders were already feeling troubled.
Sherone’s consorts were looking everywhere for him. In the absence of their leader, it was only a matter of time before another male tried to claim them.
Space twisted and turned, attracting the attention of the nearby zebras.
Sherone teleported into existence, at the very same spot he had been when he disappeared. It was like he never left, except, a lot of zebras had seen him when he disappeared.
"Sherone, what was that?" One of the male leaders asked with a frown, he was suspicious of what was going on with Sherone.
This Sherone looked calmer and more composed, he had a certain air of authority around him that they just couldn’t explain.
The male zebra who had questioned Sherone just now was standing behind Sherone.
Out of the blue, Sherone kicked back with full force. His two hind hooves landed on the head of the male zebra before the latter could react.
A very audible crack was heard as the zebra fell to the ground with a cracked skull. He was dead, he had not expected that Sherone would attack him all of a sudden.
This action was like a bucket of cold water on the zebra’s heads. A feeling of fear and uncertainty was brewing and ’Sherone’ knew it.
"No more questions, let’s go," Sherone said with a commanding tone before he walked to the front of the herd, it was as if he was confident that they would follow him.
They did.
They were a herd, after all, herd mentality was their thing.
Seeing the male leaders following behind him and the whole herd of more than one thousand six hundred zebras, Sherone nodded to himself.
Things could be done this way.
