Refusing to Remarry: Mr. Hawthorne, You Are Out-Chapter 76: Want to Help Me?
When Raine first heard these words, she thought she had misheard.
Back when Diane was still around, whenever Raine bumped into Finn Wyatt, it was merely a simple greeting, at most sharing a meal with Diane, without any further contact.
After Diane left, they completely lost contact.
Although occasionally they might catch news about each other on TV or within their circles, it was just that—a mere notice, without stirring any emotions in their hearts.
There was not much of a relationship, but this time... Finn Wyatt suddenly showed concern for Raine.
This led her to be somewhat suspicious.
"Is Mr. Wyatt... wanting to help me for Diane’s sake?"
Thinking it over, this seemed like the only possibility.
Finn Wyatt didn’t deny it, simply saying, "Let’s go."
Raine said no more, waved a hand, and got into the car.
She started the car, turned on the lights, and slowly drove out to the left.
Finn Wyatt stood still, only coming back to his senses after Raine’s taillights disappeared from view.
He took out a cigarette and lit it.
Taking a deep drag, the small scarlet flame suddenly flared up.
He released a series of smoke rings, clearly showing his experience.
The night breeze blew gently, as if dispersing the faint sorrow hanging in his heart.
Occasionally, he glanced up at the fourth-floor window, and only when the light was off did he stub out his cigarette and turn to get in his car.
Coincidentally, as he left, he was heading in the same direction as Raine.
The car moved slowly forward, its wheels pressing over the track marks left by Raine’s departure.
From this moment on, the fates of the two began to intersect mysteriously.
What he didn’t know was that just after he left, a man wearing a black baseball cap stealthily emerged from the shadows of a distant tree, holding a camera.
Rhys Rhodes watched the direction Finn Wyatt was leaving, sneered, and flipped through the photos on his camera.
They were all photos of Raine appearing together with Finn Wyatt...
Although there were no overly intimate actions, the fact that a man and woman were meeting alone late at night was enough to raise suspicion.
"Hah, finally caught them!"
Rhys sneered, and immediately reported the news to Candace Ford.
Candace, upon getting the message, was lying in bed on the phone with Jonas Hawthorne, trying to urge him to come home.
She felt that Jonas was avoiding her, though she didn’t know if it was just her own misunderstanding.
At first, she could gain a little sympathy from him with the child, but as time went on, after he brought in two family doctors, he appeared at home even less.
She rarely got a chance to see him.
If this continued, how would she ever marry into the Hawthorne family?
Trying again and failing to reach him only aggravated her mood.
Then Rhys’s photos arrived just in time.
She instantly perked up!
[Great!]
She replied with those three words and excitedly continued typing, [Make sure to tell Raine the news of Jonas Hawthorne and I getting married right before the bidding meeting starts tomorrow!]
Only this way could they greatly disrupt Raine’s state of mind!
Rhys naturally understood Candace’s intentions and responded directly, [Don’t worry, Ms. Ford, everything is arranged!]
[After it’s done, I will prepare a generous reward for you,] replied Candace.
Rhys, seeing this, was of course delighted and returned with heaps of thanks.
Candace couldn’t even be bothered to look.
She had learned early on that money could get things done effortlessly.
Luckily, her second uncle was now in a high position and spending money was nothing for him.
Because of this, Candace suddenly felt filled with confidence for tomorrow!
"Raine, if even divorce can’t defeat you, let’s see if losing both your career and family can still keep that smile on your face!"
The smile on her lips was as venomed as poison. At that moment, Candace seemed like a devil rising from hell, shrouded in layers of darkness.
The darkness not only engulfed her but she also wished to devour others...
——
The next day.
Before dawn, Raine had already risen.
Having mentally rehearsed the bidding meeting countless times last night, she wasn’t tired but rather excited!
She was determined to see what it was that Jonas and Finn Wyatt were so worried about!
During breakfast, both Evan Sinclair and Sharon Jennings could see something different in their daughter.
Exchanging glances, they finally decided that Sharon would ask.
"Daughter, are you... nervous?"
"No!" Raine cheerfully took a sip of porridge, then looked at her parents, "I’m excited!"
"If you’re scared, let your dad go with you. With him there, you..." Sharon’s suggestion wasn’t finished before she saw her daughter continuously shaking her head.
"No need!" Happily declined, Raine continued, "Dad already arranged a fishing trip with some uncles today, right? Go have fun! Don’t worry about me! I’ve got it all set."
On hearing this, Evan Sinclair’s worries vanished instantly.
He laughed heartily, "Haha! Truly a tiger father begets no dog daughter! My lovely girl, I believe you can do it!"
"Thank you, Dad." Raine shared a knowing smile.
What could be more heartwarming than parents’ affirmation and support?
Sharon Jennings, seeing the father and daughter smiling so happily, also tucked away her worries, stating with some resignation, "I really can’t deal with you two!"
After Raine finished breakfast and left home, Sharon asked Evan, "Are you really not worried at all?"
"Worried? How could I not be worried?" Evan countered, then smiled at Sharon, "Didn’t you bring in reinforcements first thing? With the old master here, would he let his granddaughter get bullied?"
Sharon was taken aback, "How did you know?"
Her family had already arrived in Sedonia.
With them protecting Raine, Sharon could maintain calm and confidently let Raine handle it herself.
"Is there anything happening in Sedonia that I wouldn’t know about?" Evan continued to smile, picking up his fishing gear as he headed out, "I’m off then!"
"Go, catch a few more fish, so I can make soup for Raine tonight." Sharon nodded, seeing him to the door.
Throughout the years, whatever Evan wanted to do, Sharon was supportive.
He had worked hard for many years, and now, with their daughter back, he could finally rest a bit. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
She understood this.
It was one of Evan’s secrets to never look elsewhere over the years.
Being understood, needed, and admired was what men needed most.
Because of such loving parents, Raine had a very happy childhood.
Even if her love life was full of ups and downs as she grew, she always found the strength within to rise again!
Like the bidding meeting today, with her parents’ trust, she had the strongest support!
As for those potential crises and challenges, what was there to fear?
Even if she failed today, she wasn’t afraid of rebuilding from scratch!
With this thought, Raine, full of confidence and energy, arrived at the company.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she got out of the car, Mason Sullivan rushed over to her, looking tense.
"Ms. Sinclair, the outdoor platform prepared for the bidding lost a leg; the platform can’t be used now. What do we do?"
Raine was stunned for half a second—already so many hurdles before it even started?
It seemed today was destined not to be an easy and smooth day...
