Chapter 63: Chapter 63: A Pink Dream

Sean Ford insisted she gather two guarantors.

Leon Grant was one of them.

Logically, Raine Sinclair should have gone herself to show sincerity.

But...

She seemed to sense that Leon Grant was somehow different towards her. Once you notice something, you can’t pretend to be unaware.

Just like she told her father before, right now she doesn’t want to deal with anything affectionate; she just wants to safely give birth to her child.

More contact with Leon Grant would only deepen the bond between them.

Mason Sullivan and Leon Grant were like fire and water; if he went, there might be a fight.

Easton Yancy had to accompany her to see Finn Wyatt.

So, only Lily Sinclair was left.

After Raine Sinclair finished talking, Lily Sinclair was somewhat stunned.

"Me... go find Leon Grant?" She couldn’t quite believe it and asked her cousin for confirmation, afraid she’d misheard.

Raine Sinclair thought she was timid and said, "You met before, so you’re acquainted. Don’t be afraid."

"But..." Lily Sinclair was still hesitant.

Although she really wanted to see Leon Grant, but...

"No more buts. You just said you wanted to help me, or are your parents urging you to go on blind dates again?" Raine Sinclair asked.

These words directly hit Lily Sinclair’s sore spot, and without thinking, she agreed, "Okay, I’ll go!"

Compared to being forced by her parents to go on blind dates, the shyness and nervousness of seeing Leon Grant was nothing!

Seeing her agree so readily, Raine Sinclair immediately smiled with satisfaction, and taught Lily Sinclair how to negotiate the next day.

Late at night, Sharon Jennings saw her daughter’s room light was still on and carried warm milk. After delivering it, she returned with worry on her mind.

After her face mask was on, while lying in bed she still felt uneasy, and reached out to tap Evan Sinclair, who was reading beside her.

"Honey, those two girls are still discussing company matters. They’re very invested," she mused.

Evan Sinclair didn’t put down his book and casually answered, "Isn’t that quite good?"

"What’s good about it! How come these two once innocent and lovely girls are now so career-driven?"

Sharon Jennings wished her daughter would peacefully nurture her pregnancy but didn’t expect her to be so worried!

"It shows my old Sinclair Family has successors!" Evan Sinclair replied.

Though he answers Sharon Jennings’ questions every time, he never quite hits the mark!

Sharon Jennings grew angry, turning to scold, "Can’t you be more attentive to our daughter’s issues? All you do is read, read, read! When our daughter insisted on marrying Jonas Hawthorne, you didn’t intervene! Otherwise, how would she..."

Saying this, Sharon Jennings’ eyes turned red and she was about to cry.

Evan Sinclair hadn’t felt such intense emotion from her until he was scolded, which stunned him a bit, and he hurriedly put down his book and embraced his wife, soothing her like a child.

"Okay, okay, why are you crying again? Who says I don’t care about our daughter? If I don’t care, who will? Isn’t she doing well now? She has things to keep her busy and doesn’t think wildly."

This is what Evan Sinclair sees.

Seeing his daughter busy is better than her being bored and unhappy at home, right?

Sharon Jennings knows this reasoning but still feels it’s unfair for her daughter!

If she had forced her daughter not to marry into the Hawthorne family, perhaps the results would have been different...

"If, at that time, I had forced her by threatening with my life not to marry into the Hawthorne family, maybe it wouldn’t have turned out like this..." She wiped the corners of her eyes and began to blame herself.

Listening to this, Evan Sinclair felt even more affectionate and hugged his wife tightly, sighing, "It is what she deserves to face; anyone else could not avoid it either. Don’t think about it. Our daughter being by our side now is already good, isn’t it?"

"...Yes." Being consoled like this, Sharon Jennings felt a bit better.

Raine Sinclair naturally wasn’t aware of how much her parents worried over her matters. After roughly discussing the next day’s plan with Lily Sinclair, she turned to find the little girl beside her had already fallen asleep.

Recalling how the little girl always followed her calling "sister" and now is about to graduate from college, still by her side, was indeed somewhat miraculous.

Shaking her head helplessly, she got up, turned off the light, and lay back in bed.

The little girl seemed to feel her leave and return, and snuggled over immediately, clinging to her arm and grumbling in dissatisfaction, "Sis, don’t go, stay with me a while..."

In the dark, Raine Sinclair tucked her in, "Sis won’t leave, go to sleep."

She was truly tired, and soon after closing her eyes, she went to sleep.

In her dreams, she seemed to return to her university days.

The lush trees, the innocent faces, the expansive playground, and the seemingly endless rubber track...

It was also in the spring of her third year when Jonas Hawthorne, a distinguished alumnus, was invited back to the campus.

He stood out among the surrounded leaders.

Coincidentally, a breeze blew, scattering cherry blossoms.

Petals fluttered around Jonas Hawthorne, encapsulating him.

All that beauty seemed like a pink dream crafted just for her by destiny...

I really hope that dream never awakens.

In her sleep, Raine Sinclair did not notice the tears slowly flowing from her closed eyes.

They sunk into the pillow and vanished.

Youths’ dreams are the hardest to forget...

——

Next day.

Lily Sinclair donned a beige business suit, embracing a guarantee letter, appearing nervously at the base of Grant Tower.

She looked up at the towering building, thinking of Leon Grant inside, becoming increasingly anxious.

She didn’t know how long she stood there until her legs grew numb. Taking a deep breath, she gazed at the entrance of the hall directly ahead.

"Lily Sinclair, you can do it!"

Encouraging herself, Lily Sinclair stepped into Grant Tower.

The receptionist, knowing she was from the Sinclair Group, smiled and led her to the nineteenth floor.

"This way, Ms. Sinclair." The receptionist arranged for her to wait in a lounge, "Mr. Grant has a last-minute international meeting; please wait here briefly."

"Okay." Lily Sinclair nodded slightly, feeling somewhat awkward.

After all, it was her first time doing such a thing, and she was a bit scared.

After pouring her a glass of water, the receptionist went outside.

During Lily Sinclair’s wait, a secretary informed Leon Grant, "Mr. Grant, Ms. Sinclair from the Sinclair Group is here."

Both having the surname Sinclair, Leon Grant naturally expected Raine Sinclair.

"Hmm." He nodded. Despite appearing calm, not intending to shorten the meeting, his tranquil heart was stirred.

Finally, after the meeting ended, he headed straight to the lounge.

Seeing the figure on the sofa with her back to him, his dark eyes unconsciously held a hint of amusement, "Why did you come so early?"
