Redemption of a Born Demon-Chapter 39: Dark Undercurrents: Where to Hide from Divine Sense (Part 1)
"It doesn’t matter. Making our move in Spring City just means a slightly longer extraction route. With terrain as complex as Yunhai Province, Donghua’s people can’t stop us if we decide to leave."
Shen Song, the leader of the five-man team, spoke with a calm expression.
They were all elite forces from the Pioneer Group’s South Asia branch—"Super Warriors" who possessed Saintly Bodies. They had been urgently mobilized, given forged identities, and sent into Donghua to carry out a hunting mission.
For them, traveling hundreds of miles a day and crossing mountains was like strolling on level ground. In a region with terrain as complex as Yunhai Province, all they had to do was succeed and vanish into the deep mountains. Even if Donghua deployed a hundred thousand troops and every high-tech method at their disposal, it would be nearly impossible to prevent their escape.
Deploying five Super Warriors was enough to show how seriously headquarters was taking this mission. In a small nation in Nanyang, the Middle East, or the Black Continent, a force like this could easily topple a government.
For this mission, failure was not an option.
"You’re all the organization’s top elites, so you’re guaranteed a swift victory. I’ll take you to get settled first. As soon as I have news of our target, I’ll inform you immediately,"
the driver said with a chuckle.
A short while later, the van drove into downtown Spring City and pulled into the parking lot of a large, lavishly decorated hotel.
The Yunding Grand Hotel, one of the largest and most luxurious hotels in Yunhai Province.
"A Yundong Group property? The Yunhai Yang Family?"
Shen Song asked.
"Yes. You’ll be staying here for the next few days. The Yundong Group has a lot of influence in Yunhai Province, so their properties can bypass many inspections. We’ve already paid off the logistics manager here, so you can safely store some... unregulated items."
"Everything has been arranged. Just go to the front desk and give them the name ’Spring Breeze Tour Group,’ and one of our contacts will meet you. Please take these Feng Shui Pendants, too. Remember to keep them on you at all times. They shield your feng shui and block sensory perception—they were specially prepared by our superiors."
As he spoke, the driver took out several Protective Talisman-like pendants and placed them in their hands.
The craftsmanship of these Protective Talismans was clearly more refined than the ones hanging inside the van. Talismanic symbols were painted on them in Cinnabar. When they moved, they seemed to induce a subtle sense of disorientation. They were obviously no simple trinkets, but must have been personally crafted by a master.
Experts who have achieved Body Ascension have exceptionally sharp spiritual senses, allowing them to perceive malice and danger within a certain radius. As the saying goes, "a spoken word finds its echo." The very act of them gathering to plot this hunt could be subconsciously detected by their target. Therefore, they had to find a way to isolate their own "magnetic field" and block his perception.
"He’s just a young man who recently achieved Ascension. He probably doesn’t even fully grasp its mysteries yet. I think the organization is being overly cautious,"
one of the five, a handsome young man with a cavalier glint in his eyes and features typical of someone from Nanyang, said with a sneer.
"Alright, that’s enough. Everyone, take one and keep it on you. This mission must be foolproof. Our target cultivates the Free Heart Technique, after all. Even if he only just achieved Ascension, his spiritual senses are likely extraordinary. Better safe than sorry."
Shen Song said calmly, taking a Protective Talisman.
「Meanwhile.」
「In Cloud Prison Mountain.」
Yi Beidou had no idea that a conspiracy against him was unfolding. He was currently joining forces with Fang Xiuyuan and Tao Zihong, preparing to sever the great dragon of Cloud Prison Mountain.
Metal rods, like lightning rods, had been erected on the various high points of the hills. The rods were all positioned in relation to one another, vaguely forming a kind of Array.
In the center of the Array, a dense cluster of metal rods was buried in the ground. They were interconnected with golden thread, and strips of yellow paper Talismans were affixed to each rod.
Tao Zihong stood within the Array.
The Five Thunders Purification Array.
In the mountain cave beneath Tao Zihong’s feet, metal rods were everywhere, all linked by golden thread. Copper Bells hung from some of the rods.
Yi Beidou and Fang Xiuyuan were inside the cave. Yi Beidou could feel the chaotic magnetic field, which felt like a raging river. Throughout the cave, the metal rods and golden threads vibrated ceaselessly as the field washed over them. The Copper Bells jingled of their own accord, their crisp chimes echoing in the chamber.
The so-called "severing a Dragon Vein" was not as simple as just carving up a mountain range. One had to find its critical point: the Dragon’s Reverse Scale. Furthermore, Fang Xiuyuan’s objective went beyond that.
He wasn’t severing the Dragon Vein merely to slay it, but to disperse its Qi throughout the world. This would require constructing fortifications at the site of the Reverse Scale, making the task even more difficult.
The Fengshui Dao has its peculiarities. For instance, in some locations, surveys might indicate it’s possible to build, yet it proves impossible to lay a foundation, or at least not a stable one. In ancient times, people encountering this would even resort to the cruel practice of "human piling."
This is actually the work of the earth’s ley line magnetic field. The earth’s Qi causes minor tremors and can even affect the metal within a structure.
At the location of the Dragon’s Reverse Scale, it’s possible to build if one works with the flow of energy. But to go against it? It would be impossible for any structure to remain stable against the constant scouring of the magnetic field.
Therefore, Fang Xiuyuan’s task was to contend with the Dragon Vein’s magnetic field, to use his own human body to shatter the natural field and recreate the ley line’s nexus.
"Dragon, rise!"
Fang Xiuyuan roared. He gripped the Silent Heart Sword as the Qi and blood in his body surged. His Dharma Body manifested, and his aura connected with the ley lines, rousing the turbulent Dragon Vein deep underground.
ROAR!!
A roar seemed to echo in Yi Beidou’s mind. A fierce wind whipped through the cave, causing the bells on the walls to clang violently. At that moment, his consciousness also plunged deep into the earth.
It was as if he could truly see it: a colossal dragon, hundreds, even thousands of miles long, twisting and churning deep beneath the earth.
And now, they were its target.
The Dragon Vein of the Earth!
A colossal pressure, originating from the world itself, instantly bore down on Yi Beidou and Fang Xiuyuan. This immense power was completely different from the Heart Intent of a human master.
If an ordinary person were standing in this magnetic field, they would quickly go insane. The magnetic field within their own body would fall into disarray, leading to catastrophic organ failure.
Before the wrath of heaven and earth, mortals are but ants.
However, those standing here were no ordinary people. They were Immortals who had achieved Body Ascension, whose Heart Intent had shattered all limits—beings who walked the mortal world!
RUMBLE!!
Outside the cave, stirred by the earth’s Qi, the wind howled through the mountain forest. Dark clouds gathered in the sky, and a torrential downpour instantly began.
"Thunder, come!"
Tao Zihong stood in the rain, Emitting Force from his entire body, creating a barrier that not even a fly could land on or a raindrop could touch. His hair bristled with fury as he stamped his foot, channeling his power. His aura surged toward the heavens.
Communing with heaven and earth, he could Call the Wind and Summon the Rain.
RUMBLE!!
The lightning was guided down by his aura, striking the metal rods and conducting its power deep underground.
The Five Thunders Purification Array drew lightning into the earth. Striking the mountain forest with lightning was akin to baptizing the landscape with pure yang energy, forcing a change in the earth’s Qi. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Now, these metal rods acted as Dragon-Subduing Nails, using the Power of Thunder and Lightning to suppress the great dragon underground.
"Quick! Record the data on the magnetic field changes!"
Nearby, a group of Mao Shan Disciples were setting up equipment around the Dragon Vein’s perimeter, monitoring the magnetic field and environmental shifts. All of it was precious data.
Even from several hundred meters away, they were still affected. Their heads throbbed, and they fought back waves of nausea. It was hard to imagine how terrifying it must be at the epicenter of the magnetic storm.
With the help of Tao Zihong’s Array, the howling wind inside the cave and the crushing, esoteric pressure of the world suddenly lessened.
"Do it!"
Fang Xiuyuan shouted, slashing the Silent Heart Sword through the Void. The Evil Qi from his body fused with the Evil Qi within the blade, and his spirit flared like a raging inferno.
Meanwhile, Yi Beidou activated his Demon Body and struck out with a single palm. All the Evil Qi and killing intent he possessed condensed into his palm, as if he himself had become the embodiment of the calamitous Destruction Technique.
ROAR!!
The earth dragon seemed to let out a mournful cry. Under the combined assault of the three living Human Immortals, the ley line’s magnetic field within the cave suddenly shattered, and its raging torrent was severed.
The great dragon was subdued!
So what if it was the power of heaven and earth?
The human heart soars higher than the heavens!
