Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 411: A Cruel Twist of Fate (1)
Adrienne and Lennox settled into a temporary routine quickly. Though they only had two weeks of alone time, it was enough for Adrienne to know she would have her husband’s undivided attention all to herself. She liked that they could spend their waking hours exploring new hobbies together, such as cooking elaborate meals or taking long walks on the beach.
If only they could stay in this blissful bubble forever, away from the demands and distractions of their busy lives. If Lennox was more relaxed than he was lately, Adrienne knew they would have more opportunities to travel together and explore new places.
She cherished these moments of uninterrupted connection, feeling a renewed sense of closeness and intimacy with Lennox. However, she knew their time together was limited, and soon, they would have to return to their responsibilities and obligations.
Adrienne woke up to the sound of the waves. She could see a sliver of sunlight peeking through the white, thin curtains. The warm glow filled her with tranquility, reminding her of the peaceful mornings they had spent together. She couldn’t help but wish that every day could start like this.
Next to her, Lennox slept with his arm resting over her stomach as if he were afraid she would leave him in the middle of the night. She gently brushed a strand of hair away from his face, savoring the peacefulness of the moment. As she watched him sleep, she couldn’t help but wish for more time to simply be together, away from the outside world and its demands.
She moved his arm gently, trying not to wake him up. Her muscles ached pleasantly, reminding her of how attentive her husband was as he made love to her. Lennox knew how to make her feel loved and desired.
She let her hand wander over his chest, tracing the outlines of his muscles. The heat of his body was a comforting presence. She knew that certain things could only be experienced with a partner—the way their bodies fit together, the way his touch sent shivers down her spine.
Adrienne felt he was her soul mate. The one she entirely missed in her previous life.
Adrienne remembered the passion they had shared the night before and how they had explored each other’s bodies fully, leaving no inch untouched. The memory of her husband’s lips on her skin, his masculine scent, and the sound of his breath as he whispered sweet nothings in her ear made her shiver with desire.
As she got out of bed, Adrienne wrapped herself in a silky robe and went to the bathroom to shower. The bathroom was smaller than the one in their home, but it still had a luxurious feel with its marble countertops and sleek fixtures.
Adrienne turned on the warm water, letting it cascade over her body, washing away any lingering traces of the night before. Once done, she put on a new white robe and stepped outside. She stopped at the sight of her husband propped up against the pillows.
He was engrossed in a book, his glasses perched on the bridge of his nose. Adrienne couldn’t help but smile at the sight, appreciating his love for good books and how he always found solace in a good story.
She quietly approached him, leaning down to give him a quick kiss before whispering, "Good morning." She then eyed the book he was holding. "Don’t you think it’s too early for you to read such a heavy novel?" she teased, knowing his tendency to lose track of time when engrossed in a captivating story.
Lennox let out a laugh and brought down the book he was holding. He pulled her onto his lap and buried his nose in her hair, inhaling the familiar scent that always comforted him. "There’s no such thing as too early for a good book," he replied with a playful grin.
"But you are right. I’m starving. How about we grab some breakfast, and then I can continue reading later?" he suggested, his stomach growling in agreement.
"Take a shower first. I need to call Mom to ask how everyone’s doing," Adrienne said, reaching for her phone. "I’ll request something to eat while you freshen up," she added, giving him a quick kiss on the forehead before sliding out of his lap.
Lennox nodded in agreement, appreciating her thoughtfulness. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Adrienne walked to the balcony, took a deep breath of the salty air, and gazed out at the ocean, the waves ebbing and flowing in a mesmerizing rhythm. She then dialed her mother’s number and waited anxiously for her to pick up.
As she listened to the ringing on the other end, Adrienne wondered if Noah, Scarlett, and Sam’s stay with the Zhao family was as enjoyable as hers. She hoped they were having just as much fun while she and Lennox weren’t around.
Eventually, her mother answered, and Adrienne felt relief wash over her. Listening to her mother’s voice felt like coming home after a long journey. She told her about their weekend and how happy Lennox felt to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city. They talked for a few minutes before hanging up, with Adrienne promising to call again once they got back.
"Is everything okay, Addie?" Lennox touched her shoulder to get her attention.
Adrienne was too distracted not to notice that her husband had returned. She gave him a weak smile, enough for Lennox to know something was bothering her.
"What’s on your mind, love?" Lennox asked, concern evident in his voice. Adrienne took a deep breath before finally opening up about her conversation with her mother and how she couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong.
"Because I ignored his messages, my father is now pestering Mom." Adrienne pinched the bridge of her nose as she sighed. "Why can’t he leave us alone?"
Lennox reached out and gently squeezed Adrienne’s hand, comforting her.
"I’m sorry you’re going through this, love. It must be difficult for both you and your mother. Is there anything I can do to help?" He asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
Adrienne shook her head. "No, I will deal with him once and for all. I just need time to gather my thoughts and determine the best approach. But thank you for your support, Len. It means a lot to me. I’m sorry for ruining the mood." She took a deep breath, determined to confront her father and end his pestering once and for all.
Lennox shook his head. "No, Addie. It’s fine. I’m your husband, and it’s my duty to support you in whatever decision you make. Just remember that you don’t have to face him alone."
