Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 371: You Won’t Lose Me (1)
Adrienne walked back and forth inside her bedroom. She had already called her Uncle Reese to seek help finding Valerie. She also sent Uncle Shark to locate the whereabouts of Airi to ensure that the young woman wasn’t responsible for Valerie’s sudden disappearance.
"Calm down, Addie. I know you are worried, but we have taken all the necessary steps to find Valerie," Myrtle reassured her over the phone. "Uncle Shark is an expert at tracking people down, and he will do everything he can to locate Airi and get some answers."
She immediately informed Myrtle of their friend’s disappearance after Nathan’s call. Myrtle also had no idea where Valerie could be, as she also lost contact with her three days ago. She thought Valerie might be preoccupied with her vacation, as she was thrilled to go hiking for the first time. Myrtle also thought Valerie’s phone must be out of coverage and never assumed things could go south. It was unusual for Valerie to be this silent, though. Valerie used to update them on what she was up to in their group chat.
Adrienne took a deep breath, trying to steady her racing heart. She knew she had done everything she could for now, and all she could do was wait for updates from her uncles. She was still concerned about the possibility of Valerie suffering harm at the hands of Airi. It had been months since the Xia family kicked Airi out, and it is believed that she left the city to escape the harsh criticism of those who knew her.
"I know, Myrtle, but I can’t help but worry about Val. She’d never been without contact before, and it’s been days since anyone heard from her. I hope we can find her soon and bring her back safely." Adrienne’s voice trembled with concern as she spoke.
She was afraid that Valerie could not avoid her fate of dying young because of Airi, despite Adrienne’s effort to change the course of events. Adrienne couldn’t shake off the feeling of helplessness, knowing that Valerie’s safety was ultimately out of her control. She couldn’t help but wonder if Airi’s influence would lead to a tragic outcome for Valerie.
"I understand what you feel, Addie. But we have to stay hopeful and keep searching for Valerie." Myrtle reassured her. "She’ll be back, Addie, but have you already talked to Katherine Shen? Isn’t Val a good friend of hers?"
"Yes, I received a call from her earlier. Kat assured me they are trying their best to retrace where Val was prior to her disappearance. She said that if Val were kidnapped, the kidnappers would try to reach out to the Xia family soon." Adrienne replied.
Adrienne hung up the phone with Myrtle, her mind racing with thoughts of Valerie’s safety. She knew she couldn’t just wait for updates from her uncles and Katherine Shen. She had to do something herself to find Valerie. She checked on her husband’s siblings, ensuring they were already asleep, and asked Kalista to stay with the children for a moment as she needed to go out.
Adrienne quickly grabbed her coat and headed out of her apartment when Lennox opened the front door and saw her. He immediately went to her and pulled her into a tight hug.
"I heard from Myrtle what happened, but being out this late won’t help, Addie. " Lennox kissed her crown and felt her slightly tremble in his arms. He rarely sees his wife worry like this, as she’s usually calm and collected.
"I didn’t mean to leave your siblings alone, Len. I plan to leave Kalista here and bring Irina and Leigh with me. Len, if Val was really kidnapped by someone, it’s important for us to find where they are keeping her." Adrienne reasoned it out, but Lennox shook his head.
"No, Addie. I can’t let you put yourself in danger like that. We don’t even know who we’re dealing with here. It’s better if we let the authorities handle it." Lennox said, his voice firm and resolute.
Adrienne bit her lip, torn between her desire to find Valerie and her husband’s concern for her safety. She knew that Lennox was right, but she couldn’t help but feel like she needed to do something.
"I know, Len, but I just can’t sit here and do nothing. I feel so helpless," Adrienne said, her voice cracking with emotion. "Uncle Shark couldn’t find Airi anywhere in Jinling and Chiangshi, and I’m worried she’s with Val as we speak."
Lennox pulled her closer, resting his chin on her head.
"I know, Addie. We all do. But sometimes, the best thing we can do is wait and pray. Trust me, your uncle and Katherine Shen will do everything possible to find Valerie. And we will be here to support each other."
Adrienne sighed, feeling a sense of comfort in her husband’s embrace. She knew he was right, but she couldn’t shake off the unease lingering within her. She just hoped that Valerie would be found soon and that she would be safe and unharmed.
As Lennox continued to hold her, Adrienne closed her eyes and whispered a prayer for Valerie’s safety. She knew nothing else she could do for now, but she refused to give up hope. She would do everything in her power to ensure that Valerie was found, even if it meant waiting anxiously by the phone for updates.
Adrienne barely got a wink of sleep last night. She tossed on the bed restlessly, her mind consumed with worry for Valerie. She couldn’t shake off the helplessness and the fear of what could have happened to her friend. She felt grateful for her husband’s embrace and for being a source of comfort for her last night. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"I’m sorry for disturbing your sleep last night, Len. I couldn’t fall asleep waiting for news." She told her husband during breakfast. Noah and his sisters were still asleep and only sharing breakfast. It was early in the morning, and the city was still asleep.
