Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 326: Valerie’s Fate (2)
"Are you sure, Addie? But annulling my engagement with Derek would make things difficult for my brother." Valerie bit her lower lip in frustration. She desperately wanted to believe that she was mistaken and there was nothing going on between her fiance and Airi.
Adrienne nodded in response. In her past life, Valerie’s older was devastated and blamed himself for failing to protect her. He desperately asked the Shen and Han family to aid them in lowering Valerie’s sentence, but they refused to listen. Adrienne knew that Valerie’s brother would do anything to protect his sister, even if it meant risking his own position in the family.
According to the details Alistair shared with her, Airi deliberately provoked Valerie, taunting her for being able to snatch her man. Derek sided with Airi and forced Valerie to hand everything she had to Airi.
Valerie, who was blinded with rage, ended up stabbing the cheating in the midst of their fight. Airi foolishly thought their older brother would arrive home in time but didn’t consider the heavy traffic that would delay him. e arrived too late, only to find his sister holding a bloody knife and Airi and Derek lying lifeless on the floor. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
In the end, the cheating couple lost their lives. The scene was gruesome, and Valerie was sentenced to life in prison for her crime. Adrienne could never forget the expression Valerie had when she received the verdict. She would never allow Valerie to suffer the same fate as Valerie was the first person, aside from Myrtle, who stood up for her when she was weak and powerless.
"I’m sure," Adrienne said firmly. "Your brother loves you more than anything. He would rather see you happy and free than married to someone who doesn’t deserve you."
Valerie felt a sense of relief wash over her. She knew that her brother would always have her back, and she trusted him to make the right decision for their family.
"Do you have a plan, Addie?" Myrtle asked. She knew Adrienne would suggest something like this if she didn’t have a plan in mind already.
Adrienne looked thoughtful for a moment before a smirk formed on her lips.
"I might have an idea," she said in a low voice. "That is if you are willing to cooperate, Val. The success of this plan depends on you. We need to act fast before it’s too late.
Valerie swallowed, knowing this wouldn’t be easy. However, if she could convince her brother that her marriage with Derek was bound to fail, she’d be able to stop the wedding from taking place.
"What do I need to do, Addie?"
"We need to get some evidence that Derek and Airi are romantically involved," Adrienne said. "Something concrete that we can present to your brother and your family to convince them to call off the engagement."
"But how do we do that?" Valerie asked, feeling a sense of dread. She knew that spying on her fiance and her sister was not a good idea, but she also knew that she needed to protect her family’s interests.
"I know someone who can help us," Adrienne said, a glint in her eye. "Uncle Shark is the perfect person for this job. He’s discreet and efficient. If anyone can find out what’s going on between Derek and Airi, it’s him. As soon as your brother knew what Airi was up to, he would understand your situation. We only need to show him that marrying you to Derek while he’s involved with Airi is a bad idea."
Valerie nodded in understanding, feeling both grateful and nervous. She knew her brother would never forgive himself if anything happened to her, and she didn’t want to be a burden to him. At the same time, she couldn’t ignore the possibility that Derek and Airi were involved in something illicit. She needed to know the truth before she took any drastic actions.
"I don’t know, Addie," Valerie said hesitantly. "This seems risky and unethical."
Adrienne shrugged. "We’re not breaking any laws. We’re just trying to protect your family’s interests. And besides, if there’s nothing going on between Derek and Airi, then we have nothing to worry about, right?"
Valerie thought about it for a moment before nodding reluctantly. She didn’t have any feelings for Derek and didn’t mind ending her engagement with him. However, Airi was a different issue. She posed a threat to the Xia family, and Valerie cannot turn a blind eye to her any longer.
"Alright, I’ll do it," She said, steeling herself for what was to come. "What’s our next move?"
Adrienne smiled, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "We need to talk to Uncle Shark and give him the details of what we want. He’ll do the rest."
Valerie looked at her friend, grateful for her support. She knew that Adrienne always had her back, and she trusted her to help her through this difficult situation. She was in a predicament where she had no idea how to proceed without complicating things for her family.
Valerie and Myrtle listened attentively as Adrienne explained her plan to gather evidence against Derek and Airi’s relationship. They realized that it was a risky plan, but they were willing to take the chance to protect Valerie and her family’s future.
"Thank you, Addie," Valerie said, her voice filled with emotion. "I don’t know what I would do without you."
Adrienne smiled. "You don’t have to thank me, Val. That’s what friends are for."
Myrtle nodded in agreement. "We’re here for you, Val. Whatever you need, we’ll do our best to help you."
They knew that Valerie was going through a difficult time, but they were ready to stand by her side through it all.
Together, they finished their tea and talked about other things, hoping to distract Valerie from her worries for a little while. But in the back of her mind, Valerie knew she had a difficult conversation ahead of her that could change her life forever.
