Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 324: Ruination (2)
"Addie, he’s still not here yet?" Scarlett asked. Her older brothers and sister were already seated in the audience area, but their oldest brother, Lennox had yet to arrive.
"He’s on his way now, Scarlett. His flight was a delayed due to heavy rain, but your brother assured me he would be here on time." Adrienne answered while Noah stood next to her, hodling her hand.
Scarlett was dressed in white. It was an elegant, pure white gown adorned with a flower crown. The gown flows down to her feet like a waterfall. Her toes peeked out from the bottom of her dress and her slippers were painted white. Her long dark hair was curled in waves framing her beautiful face.
Compared to her elder sister, Samantha, Scarlett was a bit reserved and timid. But Adrienne knew that once Scarlett was on stage, she would blossom into a confident and talented musician.
"But what if I make a mistake?" Scarlett couldn’t help but worry, "What should I do then?"
"It’s going to be okay," Adrienne reassured her. "You’ve practiced this a million times. Just take a deep breath and let all that nervous energy flow into the music."
Just as Adrienne finished fixing a stray hair, Lennox arrived, out of breath from running. He was still dressed in thick layers, with his coat glistening with raindrops. He rushed over to them, taking a moment to catch his breath. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"I’m sorry I’m late," he said, panting. "The flight got delayed, and the traffic was terrible."
Adrienne smiled at him, grateful that he made it on time. She knew that Scarlett would be thrilled to see her brother in the audience, cheering her on.
"It’s okay, you’re here now," she said, squeezing his hand.
Scarlett beamed at him, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "Lennox, you made it!"
"Of course I did," Lennox replied, ruffling the little girl’s hair. "Wouldn’t miss your recital for the world."
Adrienne watched as Lennox knelt down beside Scarlett, offering her words of encouragement. The way he interacted with her made her heart swell with happiness. She knew that Lennox would make a great father someday.
"They haven’t started yet, right?" He asked her then glancing at his younger sister. "You look good, Scarlett. Are you ready for this?"
Scarlett nodded, relieved that her brother made it in time. Her greatest supporters were her brother and Adrienne and the young girl didn’t think she’d be able to play before a large crowd hadn’t been for them.
Lennox turned to Adrienne, his eyes searching hers for any sign of distress. Old Master Jiang’s funeral was held last weekend and Adrienne hadn’t made a comment nor any move against the Jiang family since then.
"How are you holding up?" he asked softly.
Adrienne gave him a small smile. "I’m doing okay. I’m just trying to focus on Scarlett."
After a few minutes, it was time for Scarlett to go on stage. Adrienne gave her a reassuring smile.
"Good luck, Scarlett," she whispered, giving her a quick hug.
Scarlett took a deep breath before walking out on stage, the crowd of parents and family members applauding as she took her place at the piano. And as she stepped onto the stage, Adrienne felt a sense of pride swell within her chest.
As Scarlett played, Adrienne couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and joy. Despite everything that had happened, she was grateful to be there for her family at that moment. She watched as Scarlett poured everything she had into the music, her fingers moving deftly over the keys.
The music filled the room, and Adrienne felt herself being swept away by its beauty.
For a moment, she forgot about everything that had happened in the past few weeks—the drama with the Jiang family, her grandfather’s passing, and the weight of her revenge.
"Scarlett is exceptional in playing musical instruments, but she’s afraid to be criticized and embarassed by other." Lennox whispered to his wife as they listened to Scarlett’s piece.
Adrienne had already known Scarlett excelled in music rather than academics and she was the one who convinced Lennox to enroll his sister in piano lessons three years ago. It was only when Scarlett was seated before a piano could she be confident.
Adrienne knew that her sister-in-law had practiced tirelessly for this, and it showed in the way she played. As the last note rang out, the audience erupted into applause. Scarlett walked off the stage, her face flushed with excitement and relief. She ran up to Adrienne, throwing her arms around her neck.
"Did you see it, Addie? I did it!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with happiness.
"You were amazing, Scarlett," Adrienne said, pulling the young girl into a hug. "You did so well."
Scarlett beamed at her, and Adrienne knew that all the hard work had been worth it. As they made their way back to the dressing room, Adrienne couldn’t help but wonder what the future held for her and the family she built with Lennox.
With the continuous decline of the Jiang family, Adrienne knew that this was far from over. The Jiang family would resist to the end and would never forgive her. The burden of her revenge was still heavy on her shoulders, and she wasn’t sure how much longer she could carry it.
As they entered the dressing room, Scarlett’s siblings gathered around her, congratulating her on her performance. Lennox stood to the side, a proud smile on his face as he watched his sister.
"Scarlett, you were amazing," Samantha said, hugging her sister. "I can’t wait to see what you do next."
Vaughn clapped his sister on the back. "That was incredible, Scar. You blew everyone away."
As the family settled in for the night, Adrienne felt a sense of calm wash over her. For the first time in a long time, she felt like everything was going to be okay. She leaned over and kissed Lennox on the cheek, grateful for his unwavering support.
"Thank you for being here with me," she said softly.
"Always," he replied with a smile. "You know you can always count on me. Camilla and Cayden are already behind the bars, what do you plan to do next?"
"Wait who’s going to fall on the trap," Adrienne answered. "My father and Elise would keep a low profile by now, but I’m not done with yet."
