Chapter 299: They Would Regret Harming You

The news of Lennox and Adrienne’s wedding overshadowed the news of Alistair and Ayla’s engagement. Many were surprised at how fast the couple had decided to tie the knot, considering they had only been dating for a few months. Some speculated that their whirlwind romance was fueled by their undeniable chemistry and compatibility.

Since Adrienne was known to be living with her Zhao grandparents, some tried to validate the news by asking Reese Zhao, and her uncle didn’t disappoint as he confirmed that Lennox Qin was part of their Zhao family now. As for the details of when the couple tied the knot, Reese refused to disclose any of it.

Lennox came home with Adrienne with a broad smile on his face. He couldn’t contain his happiness now that they didn’t need to keep their marriage a secret from everyone. He hoped it would also dissuade other men, especially Alistair Han, from bothering his wife again.

Since they married, Adrienne has still received calls and messages from other men inviting her for a dinner date or asking her out. Lennox was determined to end it and show everyone that Adrienne was off the market. He wanted their marriage to serve as a clear message that she was happily taken and not interested in other suitors.

Adrienne walked towards Lennox, feeling his eyes on her. His gaze turned her insides into a fluttering mess, and she couldn’t help but smile back at him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and he pulled her in for a kiss, making her heart race.

When she pulled away, she was breathless and relied on Lennox’s help to keep herself steady. Lennox was the only one who made her heart race like this, making her want him all to herself. She tried to be greedy. If this was a dream, she never wanted to wake up.

"Do you feel any different now that everyone knows we’re married?" Lennox asked, breaking the kiss. He knew Adrienne had a lot of things in her mind, and he wanted to lessen the burden in her heart in any way possible.

Adrienne shook her head, still grinning. "No, but I feel like we can finally be ourselves around everyone. I don’t like others thinking we’re just fooling around, but are you sure?"

She knew announcing their marriage would also attract the Qin family’s attention. They would surely deem her a threat if she became pregnant with Lennox’s child. It didn’t matter if Jacob Qin managed to steal Lennox’s previous position as the heir of the Qin family because Lennox could still contend and challenge him.

If Adrienne ended up bearing his child, the Qin family would pose a threat to their family. This was why she and Lennox decided not to have a child until everything was settled. It may take some time, but she and Lennox didn’t mind waiting for a few years. Lennox nodded, his expression turning serious.

"I also want to ensure everyone knows you’re mine. I’m tired of all the men trying to get with you. Do you even know how Alistair looked at you earlier, as if you were his possession? Now that he knows you are married, he should stop entertaining ideas that he could have you."

Adrienne rolled her eyes. "We can handle it, Lennox. You don’t need to worry about them. They should be wary of me instead. We deal with the problem one by one. Once I’m done with the Jiang family, let’s deal with your Qin family. As for Alistair, we need to devise an intricate plan to stop him."

"Are you sure you can handle them? You know they can be a handful, Addie. You’ve seen what they’ve done to me and my father."

"They caught you off guard, but that won’t happen anymore. I’ll make sure they would regret harming you." Adrienne’s eyes flashed cold.

Just remembering Lennox’s condition when she first saw him made her heart ache. It was also enough to make her blood boil with anger. She would never forgive the Qin family and decided to return the favor a thousandfold to the,

Lennox’s grip on her waist tightened, aware of what she was thinking.

"But I am worried, Adrienne. I don’t like the idea of other men looking at you that way. I somewhat understand now why Alistair Han is obsessed with you. You know him better than me. Would he stop chasing you after knowing we’re married?" He said, hoping to divert her attention.

Adrienne pondered for a moment. If the Alistair she married in her past life were the same as the Alistair they know now, he would undoubtedly hurt Lennox in the cruelest way possible and punish her for turning her back on him.

"He’ll surely hate you for this, Len. Alistair would try to get even with you and hurt you in any way possible. He would start by hurting Huayi and might use someone close to him to betray you. Don’t let that happen, Len. You and Gavin should be careful who to trust."

"Don’t worry about it, Addie. You know Gavin. He’s suspicious of everyone." Lennox paused as he realized why Gavin allowed Myrtle to stay beside Adrienne instead of being with him. Gavin must have known the danger Myrtle would be in if she stayed with him.

"You deal with the Jiang family while we keep Alistair at bay. Huayi became what it is today because of you, and we wouldn’t allow anyone to destroy it." He sighed then, "You are so beautiful, Addie. I hope no other man followed Alistair’s lead and became obsessed with you. Do you know? I love you more each passing day."

Adrienne’s smile softened, and she leaned in to kiss him again. "Then show them that I’m taken. I’m yours, Lennox, but you won’t confine me here only to be seen by you, right?"

"Of course not. I’m not that kind of monster, Addie. I would rather hurt myself than lay a hand to harm you," Lennox grumbled, "but I just want to protect you. I don’t want anything to happen to you because of me."

Adrienne placed a reassuring hand on his cheek. "I appreciate your concern, but I can handle any unwanted attention. Trust me, Lennox, I won’t let anyone come between us. Not Alistair, not my family nor yours."

Lennox hugged her, pressing his nose on her head, breathing in her familiar scent. He couldn’t imagine what life he would have had if he had never had Adrienne. Would he be miserable and alone? He didn’t think he would understand what it felt like to have a family that hadn’t for Adrienne.

Perhaps his siblings had led a hard life in Adrienne’s previous life. They must have felt abandoned by everyone and suffered in the end. Samantha was a bright girl, and he had no doubt she could do anything she wanted in the future.

Lennox was confident Liam, Vaughn, and Vincent would be fine, but he was ready to help them in any way if they needed help. As for Noah, Lennox had decided to raise him like his own. It didn’t matter if he and Adrienne were blessed with children in the future, but he was determined to take care of his youngest brother. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Lennox knew he couldn’t change the past, but he was determined to make sure that Adrienne never felt alone again and that his siblings would lead a better life. He wanted to give them everything they deserved and more.

He pulled back from their embrace, looking into her eyes. "I love you, Adrienne. More than anything in this world."

Adrienne’s eyes glistened with unshed tears. She initially thought that the heavens above allowed her to live again to change her past, but now, she saw it as another chance to take back control of her life and live to the fullest.

With Lennox by her side, she didn’t feel alone anymore. She had someone whom she could count on, someone who brought her a sense of comfort and warmth that she had never experienced before.

"Why are you crying, my darling?" Lennox dried her tears. He wondered if he made her upset with his words earlier. They had yet to decide when to announce their marriage, and he foolishly told it before Alistair and everyone.

"This is tears of joy," Adrienne smiled, "I never thought I could feel this happy. Thank you for being with me."

Lennox pulled her in for another kiss, his hands roaming over her body as he deepened the kiss. Adrienne could feel the desire building inside her, and she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. They broke the kiss, panting for breath, and Lennox lifted her up in his arms, carrying her towards their bedroom.

As they made love, Adrienne felt a sense of completeness and contentment. With Lennox, she felt safe and loved, and she knew that no matter what the future held, they would face it together. When they finally lay in each other’s arms, breathless and sated, Adrienne knew she had found her forever in Lennox.
