Chapter 261: My Sweet Addie (1)

Adrienne stepped out of the car in front of an upscale restaurant in Chiangshi. She had heard about this place from Valerie before but just got to see it now. Irina took the key from her, and she hurried inside with her purse, with Leigh following behind her. She was a bit early to meet with her husband, but time was money for them. She knew how busy Lennox had been and could not afford to make him wait too long.

A smiling receptionist greeted her, and Adrienne gave him Lennox’s name. He nodded and led her through the dark mahogany walkway. Adrienne briefly glanced at the interior decor of the place, marveling at the elegant chandeliers and intricate artwork adorning the walls. The air was filled with sophistication and opulence, making her feel slightly out of place in her casual attire. However, she brushed off self-consciousness and focused on the task—finding her husband and discussing their important business matters.

The scent of smoky, perfectly charred meat hit her nose, reminding Adrienne that she didn’t have a decent meal that day. She was looking forward to a great dinner tonight with her husband.

Lennox was at a small table for two when they reached the third level of the restaurant. Adrienne had no doubt that this spot was reserved for important guests like her husband. He rose at the sight of her and beamed her a smile.

Adrienne had been on the edge since morning. Her meeting with her grandfather and Alistair Han weighed heavily on her mind, and talking with her mother made her restless. However, as she looked at her husband, her worries melted away. She felt a sense of comfort and reassurance in his presence.

"Have you been waiting for too long?" She asked Lennox as she sat down.

When Lennox settled across from her, she realized how intimate their situation was. His knees brushed slightly against hers under the tablecloth, reminding Adrienne that it had been over two weeks since she and Lennox had private time with each other. Lennox hadn’t touched her intimately during their stay at the Zhao estate, and she wondered if her husband was bothered by it.

"No," Lennox replied, "I just arrived a few minutes ago. Traffic was surprisingly light today." Adrienne nodded, relieved she had yet to keep him waiting too long. She couldn’t help but wonder if he had also been thinking about their lack of intimacy.

"You are just in time, Addie, but I’m starving."

The way his eyes darkened as he spoke made Adrienne’s mouth dry. She looked away and picked up the menu, pretending to ignore the look her husband was giving her.

"Let’s start with some wine," Lennox suggested, "Is there anything in particular you’d like to have, Addie?"

Adrienne shook her head. Although she trusted her husband, she didn’t trust herself regarding alcohol. She had learned from past experiences that alcohol often lowered her inhibitions and made her more vulnerable to the desires she had been suppressing.

Despite her internal struggle, Adrienne smiled and replied, "Surprise me, Lennox. I trust your taste."

Lennox didn’t bother to check the wine list. Their waiter took the order and returned with a bottle of champagne. Adrienne gave him a questioning look. He inclined his head and waited for the champagne to be uncorked and poured into their glasses.

"To celebrate our success today, my love," Lennox said, raising his flute.

"Pardon?" Adrienne blinked. She wasn’t sure what they were celebrating that night.

"You’ve succeeded in keeping your Jiang family at bay, and your Uncle Reese and I managed to give Alistair a massive blow on his business. He won’t have time to annoy you, Addie." Her husband chuckled.

"What have you done with Uncle, Len?" She asked. Adrienne couldn’t help but wonder what they had done to make Alistair regret bothering her.

"Gavin and I gave Uncle Reese a tip about the recent shipment Alistair was expecting this week. He was illegally importing some goods, and we made sure that they got intercepted by the authorities. It’s a major setback for him and his business." Lennox explained with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "He won’t be causing any trouble for a while."

Adrienne couldn’t help but feel relieved that Lennox and his team had taken care of Alistair for her. She knew that her husband was a shrewd businessman, but she never knew the extent of his power until this moment.

"Thank you, Len." She said sincerely. "I appreciate everything you and Gavin did for me."

Lennox leaned across the table and took her hand. "It’s my pleasure, Addie. You know I’ll always protect you, no matter what. You are my wife, after all."

They clinked their glasses together, and Adrienne sipped the champagne. The bubbles tickled her tongue, and she savored the taste. It was sweet and refreshing, a perfect complement to the savory meal that was about to come.

As they waited for their food to arrive, Lennox leaned across the table and took her hand. Adrienne’s heart skipped a beat at the touch.

"How are you, my sweet? You haven’t taken a break since Mother woke up." Lennox asked, his eyes searching hers.

Adrienne sighed. She had been dreading this conversation. She knew Lennox would want to talk about their lack of intimacy, and she wasn’t sure how to approach the subject.

"I’m fine," Adrienne said, trying to sound casual. "Just a bit tired from all the meetings today."

Lennox raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. "Is that all?"

Adrienne took a deep breath and decided to be honest. "No, it’s not. I’ve been...thinking about us."

Lennox’s gaze softened, and he squeezed her hand gently. "I know, my sweet Addie. And I’ve been missing you too. I know you have a lot on your mind lately, and I don’t want to burden you further. I just want you to know I’m here for you, no matter what."

His touch sent shivers down Adrienne’s spine, and she couldn’t help but lean closer to him. She could feel the heat building up inside her. Their eyes met, and Adrienne saw the hunger in Lennox’s gaze.

Without another word, he leaned in and captured her lips in a fiery kiss. His hand slid up her thigh, causing her to moan into his mouth. They were fortunate that there weren’t any guests besides them then, or else Adrienne would be embarrassed to death.

They broke the kiss, panting for breath. Lennox’s eyes were dark with desire as he whispered, "Let’s go back home, Addie. I need you."

"We haven’t even had our meal yet." She chuckled and pulled away. "Isn’t it too early for us to leave? I heard from Val that it isn’t easy to get a reservation here."

The waiter returned with a platter of appetizers, and Adrienne’s mouth watered at the sight of the crispy fried calamari and sweet chili sauce. She eagerly took a piece and savored the burst of flavor.

Lennox watched her with interest, his gaze intense. Adrienne could feel the heat emanating from him, making her heart race. She knew what he was thinking and was excited by the prospect of what would happen later that night.
