Chapter 254: Break Them Apart (2)

The Jiang Corporation was in a precarious situation. Lewis Jiang knew that Alistair Han was capable of helping them, but was unwilling to help the man marry his eldest daughter in return. If he’d known Alistair Han was interested in Adrienne, he would have endured a few more years and shouldn’t have disowned her. It would be difficult for him to marry her off now.

"Are you sure it was Adrienne that he wanted? Can’t it be someone else?" Lewis asked his son, Cayden.

Why couldn’t it be Elise instead? Ayla would do fine as well. Lewis thought.

Cayden frowned as he looked at his father. "There’s no mistake, Dad. It is Addie that Mr. Han wanted."

"But I already disowned her before. You know I couldn’t tolerate her anymore." He said with displeasure.

"Dad, you have to convince Addie to return to our family for my future and Elise’s sake." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Cayden also disliked his younger sister, Adrienne, because her mere existence was a constant reminder that he was a bastard and inferior to her, as she was the legitimate child of the family. He also couldn’t understand Alistair Han’s obsession with her. He surmised that he was charmed by her beauty, as many young men were.

Cayden believed that if his father could convince Addie to come back, it would prove that he valued their family more than her beauty or status. He hoped that this would help him feel less inferior and bring some stability back into their lives. Also, once Adrienne married Alistair Han, it would be easy for him to snatch her position as the heir of the Jiang family from her.

"You know it wouldn’t be easy." Lewis replied.

His estranged daughter was beyond his reach now, and it would be impossible for him to control her. Adrienne had grown to be arrogant and unfilial, disregarding his words and making her own choices without considering the consequences. Lewis knew that convincing Adrienne to come back would require more than just words.

However, Adrienne needed to come back to their Jiang family and marry Alistar Han for them to save their family business. Lewis understood the gravity of the situation and the dire consequences that awaited if Adrienne didn’t return.

Their family business was on the brink of collapse, and marrying Alistar Han was their only chance at salvaging it. Time was running out, and Lewis knew he had to find a way to make Adrienne see reason and prioritize their family’s welfare over her own desires.

But how could they make her submit to them?

The news of her being involved with Lennox Qin also made things complicated. If Lennox Qin was also enamored by her, there was no way he would allow Adrienne to marry Alistair. It might cause more trouble for their family.

Lewis stood up from his chair and walked over to the window, staring out at the cityscape. He needed to think of a way to make Adrienne see reason. Perhaps he could bribe her with something she wanted or threaten her with something she feared. Alas, her mother was already under the care of the Zhao family, and he cannot use Rosemary against his daughter.

As he gazed out into the distance, his thoughts drifted to the young woman who had caused all of this trouble. He couldn’t deny that Adrienne was beautiful, with her long, dark hair and piercing green eyes. He had always been aware of her beauty, even as a child. But her arrogance and disobedience had made her a liability to their family.

"Addie won’t listen to me, but your grandpa may be able to convince her to return home. Once she settled, it would be easy for us to arrange her meeting with Mr. Han until she was ready to marry him," he told Cayden.

He knew that their family’s reputation was at stake, and it was crucial to handle the situation delicately. If they could just get Addie back home and under their control, they could ensure that everything went according to plan.

Lewis was pacing nervously in his study, deep in thought. He knew that he needed to act fast if he wanted to salvage their family business, but he was at a loss for what to do. Adrienne had always been stubborn and headstrong, and he couldn’t imagine her ever agreeing to marry Alistair Han. And now, with her being involved with Lennox Qin, it seemed like an impossible task.

"Then allow me to explain to Grandpa our situation. I’m sure he’ll be more than willing to lend a hand if he knows what’s at stake." Cayden suggested, hoping that his grandfather would understand the gravity of the situation.

Having his sister marry Alistair Han would surely solve a lot of their problems. Not only won’t she be a threat to him and Elise, but Adrienne won’t be so arrogant towards them anymore. Not even the Zhao family could protect her once this happened.

However, the greatest obstacle before them was Lennox Qin. Given his relationship with Adrienne, it was highly unlikely that he would let her go without a fight. And Cayden knew that he needed to tread carefully around the situation, lest he risk making things worse.

"I’ll tell Mr. Han to deal with Lennox Qin. He and Addie need to break up in order for her to marry Mr. Han. But we have to be cautious. Lennox Qin is not someone to underestimate, and he may retaliate if he feels threatened. We need to ensure that our plan is executed smoothly and without any unnecessary confrontations." Lewis suggested, which Cayden agreed to.

Cayden’s mind was racing as he drove towards his grandfather’s estate. He knew that this was their last chance at salvaging their family business, and they couldn’t afford to mess it up. His grandfather had always been a stern and unyielding man, but Cayden hoped that he would be able to understand the gravity of the situation.

As he entered his grandfather’s study, Cayden was acutely aware of the weight of the situation. His grandfather was sitting behind his desk, his expression unreadable.

"Grandpa, we need your help," Cayden began, trying to keep his voice steady. "Adrienne is the key to saving our family business, but she’s involved with Lennox Qin. We need to find a way to convince her to marry Alistair Han instead."

His grandfather’s eyes narrowed, and Cayden couldn’t help but feel a sense of trepidation. He knew that his grandfather was a shrewd and calculating man, and he wouldn’t hesitate to do whatever it took to protect their family’s interests.
