Chapter 251: Reunited (1)

Adrienne was tense as they made their way to the Zhao estate. She walked up the stairs with dread, her heart beating harshly in her chest. Lennox held her hand, and her Uncle Reese was right before her, but not even their presence could set her at ease. She was scared of what she would find when she walked through her mother’s door.

Old Madam Zhao jumped anxiously from her seat when Adrienne entered. Adrienne’s grandfather also looked relieved to see Adrienne arrive with her husband.

"Addie..." She said with her eyes shining with tears before she pointed to Rosemary’s bed, and to Adrienne’s surprise, her mother was looking back at her, her lips curling in a small smile.

Adrienne stood frozen on the spot. She couldn’t believe it. Her mother had been in a coma for years, and the doctors had given little hope of her waking up. The sight of her smiling and acknowledging Adrienne’s presence filled her with a mix of relief and disbelief.

"A...A... Ad..." Her mother raised a hand, struggling to form words. Adrienne rushed to her side, taking her hand gently in hers. The emotions overwhelmed her as she realized that this was the moment she had been praying for all these years—her mother was finally coming back to her.

Adrienne fell on her knees and wept like a helpless child before her mother. For so many years in her past life, she blamed herself for Rosemary’s accident and death. When she was given a second chance in life, it was too late to avoid her mother’s accident, as it had already taken place; however, she was determined to do her best to keep her mother alive.

Though she was able to stop Camilla and Cayden from harming her mother further, it left her and Hunter frustrated as their mother remained unresponsive over the years. One by one, the apparatuses were removed from Rosemary, but her condition remained the same.

"Oh my goodness, Mom!" Adrienne pushed herself up and gave her mother a tight hug. "I know you’ll wake up and return to me one day."

Rosemary slowly raised her hand and patted Adrienne’s back while her eyes scanned the people within the room, wondering how long she’d been in a coma. Her little girl already grew up as a stunning beauty, and she couldn’t believe she would wake up in a familiar place she hadn’t seen for so many years. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"I found her awake when I checked on her first thing in the morning." Reese started, "I couldn’t believe it at first, but Rose couldn’t say a word, but she kept trying to say your name, Addie. She’s been awake for over an hour now. I don’t want to give you false hope, but I decided to let you and Lennox know anyway."

Adrienne looked at her uncle as she held her mother in her arms. "Thank you, Uncle."

Rosemary’s doctor, who arrived earlier, cleared her throat to get Adrienne’s attention.

"Miss Zhao just woke up, and because she’d been on a respirator for years, she would need a bit more time to get used to speaking again," the doctor explained. "But we’re hopeful that with speech therapy, she will regain her ability to communicate fully."

Adrienne felt a surge of relief and gratitude, knowing that there was still hope for her mother’s recovery.

"I also gave her a full check up, and I’m confident to say that there’s nothing wrong with her brain from the car accident, and any injuries she sustained from it have healed over the years." The doctor continued.

Adrienne’s heart swelled with gratitude as she realized that her mother had not only survived the accident but had also managed to overcome its lasting effects. With tears of joy in her eyes, she thanked the doctor for her reassurance and dedication to her mother’s well-being.

Reese and the doctor stepped out of the room as they had to discuss what Rosemary would need after regaining consciousness.

Once Adrienne calmed down, she dried her tears and gestured to her husband to get closer. Lennox wordlessly walked towards the bed and beamed a smile at his mother-in-law.

"Mom, you’ve been asleep for a long time, and your little Addie has grown up." Adrienne held her mother’s hand on hers. "But this is Lennox Qin. He is my husband. Don’t you think he’s quite a catch?"

Rosemary looked at Lennox with a faint smile before she nodded her head slowly. Adrienne laughed as she looked at her mother’s reaction.

"Good to know you approve, Mom," she said, and Lennox chuckled.

Adrienne then turned serious as she looked at her mother. "Mom, I don’t know what you remember, but please know that I’ve been by your side all these years, and I will continue to be here for you."

Rosemary nodded gently, her eyes filled with tears.

"You don’t have to say anything, Mom. Just know that I’m here, and I love you," Adrienne said, planting a gentle kiss on her mother’s forehead.

Lennox then stepped forward, offering his hand to Rosemary. "Mother, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you. I’ve heard so much about you, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of your family."

Rosemary smiled faintly as she shook Lennox’s hand, and Adrienne couldn’t help but feel grateful for everything that had happened. For years, she had been praying for her mother’s recovery, and now that it had finally happened, she felt like all the pieces of her life were falling into place.

Her brother would be thrilled once he received the news of their mother’s recovery. Adrienne couldn’t wait to share the joyous update with him and see the happiness on his face. She expected Hunter’s return in a few months.

As she held her mother’s hand, Adrienne’s mind began to wander, thinking about all the things she would do now that her mother was awake. There were so many things she wanted to tell her and so many moments she wanted to share, and Adrienne was determined to make the most of the time that they had.
