Chapter 219: Forever Maybe (1)

Adrienne groaned as she forced herself out of bed. Her body was stiff and sore, a side effect from their previous nightly activities. She stretched her arms, then turned to face Lennox. He lay there, his breathing deep and even, making it clear that he was still fast asleep. She envied his peaceful slumber, wishing she could join him for a few more hours; however, she was always a morning person because of her persistent nightmares. Slowly, she tiptoed out of the room, careful not to disturb him.

As she made her way to the bathroom, Adrienne couldn’t help but reflect on the exhausting activities they had shared the night before. The memories of their passionate first time flooded her mind, causing a faint blush to creep onto her cheeks. Despite the fatigue, a satisfied smile tugged at the corners of her lips.

When she slid back on the bed, she was startled when Lennox’s arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer to him.

His sleepy voice murmured, "Where did you go? Don’t leave me alone again."

Adrienne chuckled softly, feeling a surge of warmth and contentment as she snuggled back into his embrace. She was worried that he might feel uncomfortable, as she had yet to know if he had fully recovered from his injuries. But his embrace felt strong and reassuring, easing her concerns.

She whispered, "I didn’t go far. I’m here now, and I’m not going anywhere."

Lennox hummed, and it didn’t take long before he fell asleep again. Adrienne stayed awake for a while longer, listening to the steady rhythm of his breathing. As she lay there, her mind drifted to the moment they first met. It was a chance encounter at a hospital, and she had been rude to him. But he had seen past her cold exterior and had been persistent in getting to know her.

As Adrienne continued to observe him, she couldn’t stop a slight smile from spreading her lips. Even in his sleep, he still exuded elegance and grace. It was as if he carried himself with a natural poise that was unmatched by anyone she had ever known.

Her gaze followed the line of Lennox’s delicate eyelashes, skated across the line of his straight nose, down to his thin lips, and finally settled on his strong jawline. She marveled at the symmetry of his features, each one perfectly complementing the next.

Adrienne wondered what dreams danced behind those closed eyes and what secrets lay hidden within the depths of his slumber. She couldn’t help but smile as she remembered how Lennox had pursued her relentlessly, determined to win her heart. He had showered her with affection and attention, making her feel cherished and loved in a way she had never experienced before.

Lennox was totally at ease as he slept, as if being beside her was the safest place in the entire world. Adrienne smiled, feeling content just watching him. She knew that their relationship was still new and they had a lot to learn about each other. But for now, she was happy just being with him. If things went according to her plan, perhaps she could spend her lifetime by his side.

Adrienne smiled and placed her head on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. The feeling of his strong arms encircling her was comforting, and she knew that nothing could harm her as long as she was in his embrace.

The second time she woke up, the morning sun had started to seep through the curtains, casting a soft golden glow on the room. Adrienne couldn’t help but marvel at how peaceful Lennox looked. In that moment, she knew that he had managed to instill himself in her heart. She gently brushed a strand of hair away from his face, savoring the tranquility of the moment.

She traced her fingers along his chiseled jawline, savoring the feel of his warm skin against her fingertips. The way his lips curled into a smile even in his sleep made her heart skip a beat. She leaned in and gently kissed his forehead, hoping it would convey the depth of her emotions.

Lennox stirred, his eyes still closed. "Is it morning already? "He mumbled, his voice husky with sleep.

Adrienne smiled at him and said, "Yes."

Lennox’s eyes fluttered open, revealing a pair of dark eyes, and a drowsy smile graced his lips. "Good morning, wife," he replied, his voice filled with tenderness.

Adrienne smiled. She knew it would take some time before she got used to being his wife.

There were times Adrienne wondered if this man was the same cold, calm, and precocious Young Master Qin everyone was talking about. In her eyes, Lennox Qin was certainly a different person altogether—warm, affectionate, and understanding. Though there were times he was overbearing and stubborn. She cherished these quiet moments with him, knowing that behind his tough exterior was a man who loved her deeply.

As the morning sun grew stronger, Adrienne reluctantly pulled away from Lennox’s embrace and got up. She stretched her arms and legs, feeling energized and ready to start the day.

Lennox watched her as she moved around the room, admiring her beauty in the morning light. He loved the way she looked in her simple cotton nightgown, her hair tousled from sleep. It was moments like this that he wished he could freeze time and stay in bed with her forever.

Adrienne turned to him, noticing the longing in his eyes. "What’s wrong?" she asked, walking over to him.

"Nothing," Lennox said, pulling her into his embrace. "I just wish we could stay like this forever."

His heartfelt words made Adrienne smile. She knew that Lennox had been through a lot in the past and that their relationship was still new and fragile. But she was willing to take it slow and cherish every moment together.

Together, they walked over to the balcony, taking in the stunning view of the city below. As they stood there, shoulder to shoulder, with the sun on their faces and the wind in their hair, Adrienne felt a sense of peace wash over her.
