Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 213: Nothing Could Make Me Happier (1)
Lennox didn’t have a single wink of sleep last night. He tossed and turned in bed, unable to find any rest. The hours ticked by as his mind raced with thoughts and worries, leaving him completely sleep-deprived.
When Adrienne asked him to stay for the night, he thought she was willing to share her bed with him as they were getting married the next day. But that didn’t happen as she pushed him to the guest room next to hers, leaving him on his own.
As he lay in bed, Lennox couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed by her actions. He had expected her to be more affectionate and loving after their long separation. But he knew that Adrienne was always a little reserved when it came to showing her emotions.
But now, as he lay alone in the guest room, his mind began to wander. He thought back to the first time he had met Adrienne and the way she caught his eye the moment she walked into his hospital room. She came like a breath of fresh air, bringing light and joy into his life during a difficult time. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Over the years, they had grown closer, their bond deepening with each passing day. And now, as they stood on the precipice of marriage, Lennox couldn’t help but feel both excited and nervous.
Lennox sighed and turned over in bed, staring up at the ceiling. He couldn’t keep his mind off of Adrienne, wondering if she would change her mind later. He knew that he loved her, but was he the right man for her? However, when he thought of Alistair Han, his eyes immediately darkened. There was no way he would hand over Adrienne to that man.
He decided to get up and take a walk around the penthouse, hoping that the fresh air would help clear his mind. As he walked down the hallway, he heard a faint sound coming from Adrienne’s room. Curiosity getting the better of him, he quietly opened the door and peeked inside.
He was surprised to see her covered in cold sweat and having a nightmare. Her face was contorted with fear, and she was tossing and turning in her sleep. Lennox had never seen her like this before and wondered how long it had been going. Concern washed over him as he approached her, gently shaking her awake.
"Addie, wake up, baby. Wake up!" he asked, his voice filled with worry. Adrienne’s eyes fluttered open, and she gasped for breath, her body still trembling from the remnants of her nightmare. She looked up at him, her eyes filled with relief as she realized where she was.
She sat up and allowed Lennox to draw her into his embrace while rubbing her back gently. Lennox held her tightly, whispering soothing words in her ear as he reassured her that she was safe.
Adrienne clung to him, grateful for his presence and the comfort he provided in that moment of vulnerability. She didn’t want him to see this side of her, but it was better for Lennox to know before they got married. It was impossible for her to keep her nightmares a secret from him once they were married.
"Are you alright?" Lennox asked once Adrienne finally calmed down.
Adrienne took a deep breath and nodded, appreciating Lennox’s concern. She knew she needed to open up and share her feelings with him, even though it was difficult for her.
However, she didn’t know how to tell her that this was already her second life and that she had died once. The nightmares that continued to haunt her at night were Myrtle’s lifeless form after she gave birth to Dylan and Dylan’s bloodied face during her last moments in her past life.
Adrienne knew that sharing these details would be overwhelming for Lennox, but she also understood the importance of being honest with him. It was too bad she wasn’t ready to fully open her heart to him just yet.
"Do you want to talk about it?" She heard Lennox ask.
She then shook her head and said, "No, it’s fine. It’s just a bad dream."
Adrienne decided to keep the truth about her past life and the details of her nightmares to herself, not wanting to burden Lennox with such heavy information. She believed that protecting him from the truth would be the best course of action for now.
The nightmares served as a constant reminder of the unfinished business she had with those who had wronged her. Adrienne knew that facing her past head-on was the only way to find closure and finally find peace within herself.
She shut her eyes and lowered her head in shame. "I’m sorry, Len."
Lennox frowned at her words. The Adrienne she knew rarely showed vulnerabilty like this. She was always decisive and confident. He couldn’t understand why she was suddenly apologizing to him like this. This only meant that her nightmare was recurring.
His confusion turned into concern as he reached out to gently touch Adrienne’s arm.
"What are you sorry for?" he asked softly, hoping to offer her some comfort and understanding.
"For everything." Adrienne sighed and saw their intertwined hands. "I have shortcomings you have yet to see. I’ve been carrying a lot of pain and insecurities that I haven’t shared with you. It’s been weighing on me, and I didn’t want it to affect our relationship. But now, I realize that keeping it all to myself is only causing more harm."
"Everyone has their own secrets, Addie." Lennox murmured before kissing the top of her head. "I don’t expect you to bare your heart for me to see, but I hope you’ll at least tell me when it becomes unbearable for you."
"Do you still want to marry me despite knowing this?" Adrienne asked, her voice filled with uncertainty. She looked up at Lennox, searching for reassurance in his eyes. Lennox already had enough problems to deal with and she didn’t want to add more to his burdens.
"My sweet Addie, there’s no way I would be dissuaded from marrying you. Knowing your secrets doesn’t change how I feel about you. We all have our pasts and our flaws, but it’s the trust and respect we share that matters most to me."
