Chapter 210: Mrs. Qin, I Missed You Terribly (2)

"It was Prosecutor Ji who asked Alistair Han and Addie to marry. I would have never thought they would use this event to force her into marriage." Abigail commented, "You’ll have to be careful from now on, Nox. Since you’ve shown interest in Adrienne, Alistair Han might do something to get even with you."

Lennox scoffed and led his mother away from the crowd, choosing to stay at the corner where they could have some private conversation.

"It was him who offended me and Gavin first three years ago. Also, it’s not like I snatched Addie away from him. Addie had already made it clear that she had no interest in Alistair. Besides, I won’t let anyone dictate who I can or cannot be with." Lennox’s voice was filled with determination as he defended his relationship with Adrienne.

"If Alistair tries anything, he’ll have to deal with me. I won’t hand over Addie to a person like him." He added firmly, his gaze unwavering.

Alistair was like a snake, pretending to be magnanimous in front of everyone, but he was secretly manipulative and possessive. Lennox had seen through his facade and was determined to protect Adrienne from any harm that Alistair might bring.

They watched in silence as Alistair joined Prosecutor Ji at the podium, and Lennox frowned when he caught Alistair looking in Adrienne’s direction once again. His instincts told him that Alistair’s intentions were far from innocent and that Alistair hadn’t taken Adrienne’s rejection seriously. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that Alistair was plotting something.

The party continued, but Adrienne had enough and excused herself to go to the powder room. Her three bodyguards followed her shortly, making sure that Alistair Han wouldn’t follow her outside. As Adrienne freshened up in the powder room, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. The lingering gaze from Alistair had left her on edge, and she disliked it. She wanted nothing but to go and have a word with Lennox, whom she hadn’t seen for a long time.

When Adrienne stepped out and was about to return to the banquet hall, a pair of arms came from behind and hugged her. She was about to stomp on the person’s feet and use her elbow to free herself when she heard Lennox’s familiar voice next to her ear.

"Mrs. Qin, are you about to hit your husband? Is this your punishment for returning late?"

Adrienne’s heart skipped a beat as she turned her head and saw Lennox’s mischievous grin. She couldn’t help but smile in relief, realizing that her longing to see him had been reciprocated. "Len, you scared me! I thought you were someone else," she chuckled, her body relaxing as she let go of her defensive stance.

"No, I wasn’t about to hit you," she replied playfully, giving Lennox a playful nudge. "But now that you’re here, maybe I should reconsider. Where’s Irina and others? Did you send them away?"

"Don’t worry about them, Addie. They are nearby, making sure no one disturbs us. I even made sure that the cameras on this spot were turned off, so we have complete privacy," Lennox reassured her, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"I wanted to have this moment just for the two of us." He added before lowering his head to kiss Adrienne’s right temple. He couldn’t help but think about how small and fragile she was in his arms.

As he held her, Lennox couldn’t help but feel a surge of protectiveness toward Adrienne. He whispered softly, "Mrs. Qin, I missed you terribly. Not having you by my side for a long time had almost driven me insane."

Adrienne smiled, her eyes sparkling with affection. "And I missed you too, Len. Being apart from you felt like an eternity."

"I’m glad you feel the same." She heard Lennox heave a sigh of relief. "You don’t know how worried I am that someone will marry you and take you away while I’m gone. I couldn’t bear the thought of someone else having you." Adrienne’s smile widened as she reached out to hold Lennox’s hand. "But now that we’re together again, nothing can tear us apart."

"You should have returned sooner, then." Adrienne loosened his hold around her and faced him this time while holding both of his arms. She looked up and smiled, noticing how tall he was up close and how his presence made her feel safe and protected.

Lennox sighed and gently kissed both of her palms. "If I could, I would, Addie. You know this."

Adrienne nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "I know, Len, but what matters is that you are here now. But why do you keep calling me Mrs. Qin? We aren’t married yet."

Lennox chuckled softly, his eyes twinkling with affection. "I know we’re not married yet, but in my heart, you’re already mine, Addie. Calling you Mrs. Qin is just a way for me to express how deeply committed I am to you."

Adrienne tried to suppress the blush spreading on her face, feeling her heart flutter at his words.

Lennox then leaned in closer, whispering, "And I can’t wait for you to officially become Mrs. Qin and spend the rest of my life with you. We would have been married before this night ended if you hadn’t attended this atrocious party."

"Oh?" Adrienne arched a brow in amusement. "I didn’t know you were so eager to marry."

Lennox grinned and held her close. "It’s not just about eagerness, Adrienne. It’s about knowing that you’re the one I want to spend every moment with for the rest of my life. I arrived this afternoon and waited for Irina to bring you to register our marriage, but she told me you already have prior commitments to attend, so here I am."

Adrienne smiled softly and said, "Irina never told me you were arriving today. I should have made some preparations had I known you were coming."

Lennox brushed a strand of hair behind Adrienne’s ear. "Don’t worry, my sweet Addie. The important thing is that we’re together now, but what do you think about eloping with me tomorrow? Let’s register our marriage first thing in the morning."
