Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 193: Bidding Goodbye (1)
Three days later, the death of Rachel Song reached Adrienne and Lennox. They immediately made some preparations for her funeral. Since Lennox couldn’t come, Adrienne and his half-siblings decided to see the twins.
Adrienne, as well as the Qin siblings, wanted to offer their condolences and support to their brothers during this difficult time. They knew that being there for a family was important, especially in moments of grief.
Rachel Song’s funeral was held in a small chapel. The chapel was filled with mourners, all gathered to pay their final respects to Rachel. Adrienne and the Qin siblings stood together at the corner, while Vaughn and Vincent greeted the guests. The atmosphere was somber yet filled with a sense of unity as they celebrated Rachel’s life and said their goodbyes.
As the service ended, Adrienne and the Qin siblings walked toward the front to say their final goodbyes to Rachel. Adrienne glanced at the twins, seeing Vaughn swallow the lump in his throat as he stood in front of the casket. Vincent, on the other hand, placed a gentle hand on Vaughn’s shoulder, offering silent support before stepping out for a moment, leaving her with his brother.
Rachel’s lifeless body lay within, peaceful and serene, as if she were only sleeping. Vaughn took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He couldn’t break down in front of everyone.
Adrienne could see the pain etched on Vaughn’s face—a mixture of grief and determination. She knew that he was trying his best to be strong for both himself and his younger brother.
As she stepped away from the casket, she noticed Vincent standing off to the side, watching her. She hadn’t noticed he’d returned. His piercing, dark eyes bore into hers. Vincent had always been an enigma to her, and she couldn’t read him at all.
"Vince, I’m sorry for your loss," she said, her voice low and solemn.
"Thank you," Vincent replied, trying to keep his voice steady. "I suppose those are our siblings?" He asked as he glanced toward Liam and Samantha who were holding Scalette and Noah.
"Yes. I’m sorry your brother, Lennox, couldn’t come here to see you."
"I understand." Vincent simply nodded and turned to walk away, leaving Adrienne feeling symphatetic. It seemed he was devastated by their mother’s passing, despite knowing it would happen.
Adrienne watched as Vincent walked away, his shoulders slumped and his steps heavy with grief. She understood what had caused such a profound impact on him, leading to this apparent conflict of emotions.
As the mourners began to disperse, Adrienne made her way out of the chapel and back to her car. The skies were bleak and overcast, reflecting the somber mood of the day. She sighed and got into her car with Scarlett and Samantha beside her while Noah dozed on her lap. Liam had taken the front seat next to Hunter, who drove them back to the hotel where they were staying. Behind them, another car was following them with Irina and the other bodyguards on it.
"Would they be alright on their own?" Liam’s concern for Vaughn and Vincent’s well-being was evident in his voice. He was aware firsthand of the enormous void that a parent’s passing leaves behind, and he wanted to make sure his half-brothers had the support they required during this trying time. However, he also recognized that sometimes people needed space to process their grief and find their own strength.
Adrienne glanced at Liam, her eyes filled with empathy. "I think they’ll be okay," she replied softly. "But it’s going to take time for them to heal. We just need to be there for them; remind them that they’re not alone in this."
Once they arrived back at the hotel, Adrienne and the Qin siblings decided to order room service for dinner. They were all tired and emotionally drained from the day’s events. As they waited for their food, Liam spoke up.
"I remember when my mom passed. It was tough. She’s everything that I have, and then suddenly she’s gone." Liam said, his eyes were misty with memories.
Adrienne nodded in agreement. "I think Vaughn and Vincent will find comfort in each other. They’re all they have left after losing their mother."
The room fell into a somber silence as they waited for their food. Adrienne couldn’t help but feel a twinge of worry. She had no idea how to make the twins feel better.
As the silence lingered, Liam broke it by saying, "Maybe we can try to distract them with something they enjoy, like a movie or a game night. It might help take their minds off things for a while." Adrienne nodded, grateful for Liam’s suggestion. She knew that providing a temporary escape could be a small step towards healing for the twins.
Their food arrived, and they all ate in silence, lost in their own thoughts. After dinner, Samantha and Noah decided to retire to their room, leaving Adrienne with Hunter and Liam in the living room.
"I don’t think I’ve ever seen Vincent that emotional since we met him," Hunter said, breaking the silence.
"Me neither. He’s always been so stoic and guarded," Adrienne agreed.
"He must really care about their mother to show that kind of vulnerability," Hunter mused, concern evident in his voice.
Adrienne nodded in agreement, realizing that Vincent’s emotional display was a testament to the depth of his love for his mother. She hoped that their presence and support would help ease the twins’ pain during this difficult time.
Liam frowned. "I worry about him. He’s been through so much, but it seems he’s unwilling to talk about it."
Adrienne placed a comforting hand on Liam’s arm and said, "We’ll be there for him. We’ll make sure he knows he’s not alone."
Liam nodded, and they fell into a comfortable silence. Adrienne glanced at the clock on the wall, realizing that it was getting late. She knew they couldn’t solve all the problems in one night, but she was determined to be a source of support for the twins, as she promised Rachel.
