Chapter 188: Vaugh and Vincent Qin (1)

The next day, Adrienne, together with her brother and Myrtle, took a two hour drive to Yunshan City early in the morning. It was the weekend, and the weather was sunny and warm. Since the problem with the Gu family was dealt with, it was time for Adrienne to meet the remaining siblings of Lennox.

According to Gavin’s report, Vincent and Vaughn Qin were a pair of identical twins. Their mother, who was in the hospital due to a terminal illness, raised them alone.

As they arrived in Yunshan City, Myrtle couldn’t help but notice the vibrant atmosphere of the place. There were people everywhere, walking around the streets, chatting, laughing, and enjoying their day.

The air was filled with the smell of street food and the sound of street performers. She felt a thrill of excitement as she stepped out of the car and took in the sights and sounds around her.

Hunter and Adrienne seemed to be enjoying themselves too, and they were quick to suggest that they grab some street food and explore the city. Adrienne readily agreed, and they set out on foot, ready to discover all that Yunshan City had to offer.

They walked past a busy market where vendors were selling all kinds of goods, from fresh fruits and vegetables to handmade crafts and souvenirs. Adrienne was drawn to a stall selling beautiful handmade jewelry and decided to buy a pair of earrings as a souvenir of her trip.

As they continued walking, they came across a park filled with people picnicking and playing games. Myrtle suggested they join in, but Adrienne declined her invitation.

"We should get going." Hunter called after them. Though he was glad to accompany his sister and her best friend on a trip for the first time in ages, the reason they came to Yunshan was to meet Lennox’s twin brothers.

Myrtle pouted but conceded. She insisted on joining this trip to spend more time with Adrienne, but she was also aware of why Adrienne needed to be here.

When they reached the city hospital where the twins’ mother was confined, they saw a middle aged woman lying on the bed with several apparatuses connected to her.

She was bald, and her skin was extremely pale. The darkening circles around her eyes and chapped lips told Adrienne that the twins’ mother was already in a dire situation.

The sight reminded Adrienne of their mother’s condition in the past, and she could help but worry about the twins’ welfare. They were alone with their sick mother, without any other family to rely on. Adrienne knew that the twins were too young to fully understand the gravity of their mother’s illness, which added to her concern. She wondered how they were coping emotionally and if they were receiving the support they needed during such a difficult time.

Vincent and Vaughn were waiting outside the hospital room when Adrienne’s group arrived. Adrienne could immediately tell them apart, even though they looked nearly identical. Vaughn had a mischievous glint in his eye, while Vincent seemed to be more reserved.

Adrienne was taken aback. The twins looked mischievous in their photos, but she surmised their mother’s health had changed Vincent somehow. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

The twins stood up when they noticed Adrienne. They received a call the other day, informing them of Adrienne’s intention to meet them.

Adrienne gave them a good look. They were about the same height; both lean with the same broad shoulders. They were tall and lean, not thin. Their facial features were strikingly similar, with sharp jawlines and high cheekbones. However, while Vaughn had a playful smirk, Vincent’s expression remained stoic and composed. It was clear that their personalities differed, even though they shared the same physical attributes.

"I’m Vaughn," The eldest twin spoke and held out his hand. "Adrienne Jiang, was it?"

"Hello, I’m Adrienne. Nice to meet you, Vaughn," she said politely. "And you must be Vincent?"

Vincent nodded but didn’t say anything. Adrienne could sense that he was uncomfortable in their presence.

"We’re here to see you on behalf of Lennox," Adrienne explained, trying to make them feel at ease. "He wanted to meet you, but he’s currently not in the best of health at the moment. You should have heard the news of the accident."

The twins nodded. They heard about their father’s passing and the news that their older brother was badly injured in the car accident that took their father’s life. However, they never expected that the person Lennox would send to meet them was a young woman. They were pretty sure Adrienne was almost the same age as them.

"Is our brother okay?" Vaugn asked curiously.

"You’ll know when you see him." Adrienne answered before glancing at the glass wall that allowed them to see the patient inside. "How’s your mother?"

Vaughn shook his head. "Not good. The doctors said her days were numbered. Her kidneys have already failed and are not functioning, and she got an infection during her last dialysis."

Adrienne felt a pang of sympathy for the twins.

"Have you eaten yet? I saw a restaurant nearby. Let’s have a talk later."

The group made their way to the restaurant, and Adrienne could sense the uneasiness from the twins. During their meal, it was Vaughn who spoke and answered Adrienne’s question, while Vincent kept his silence throughout their conversation.

"Mom agreed to your proposal, Miss Jiang. She must have felt the need to make sure that we would be okay once she passed away." Vaughn told Adrienne.

Adrienne nodded, understanding the weight of their mother’s decision. She could see the mix of gratitude and sadness in Vaughn’s eyes as he continued, "We’re grateful for your support, Miss Jiang. It means a lot to us during this difficult time."

"Do you feel the same?" Adrienne questioned. "In two months, you would be leaving the country with Lennox and your other siblings."

Lennox was already scheduled to have his surgery, and they needed to prepare to leave soon. He would be taking his siblings with him, as he didn’t trust his relatives not to go after them.

"Until then, could we stay here with Mom?" Vincent spoke for the first time. "I want to stay with her as long as possible. I know there’s not much time left for us, but I would be grateful if Big Brother could allow us to stay here for the meantime."
