Reborn With a Money-Making System: Ruined Actress to Nation's Treasure-Chapter 160: My Husband Didn’t Leave
Author’s POV
"You’re more than enough for me," Lando said softly. "I just don’t want you to feel uncomfortable if I’m the one who kisses you first."
That was the only reason he always let his wife kiss him before he kissed her. He didn’t want Helcia to think he was some sort of pervert and end up hating him.
He thought she preferred it that way as well, but now that she said something like that, it seemed he miscalculated the situation... or maybe she only said it because she was drunk.
"But I... also want to be kissed by you first." Helcia slowly closed her eyes again, and her words became blurry. "Can you... kiss me first?"
Lando thought about it for a moment before finally deciding. "Okay, just once."
He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
Helcia frowned slightly, surprised that out of all the places on her face, her husband chose her forehead.
Other men would probably choose her lips right away without hesitation. But strangely... his gentle nature and the way he treated her with so much care made Helcia feel incredibly safe with him.

Helcia blinked slowly. Oh... she had actually forgotten about this quest.
Yes, what she asked for earlier had been her true desire, not something she said just because of Penny’s mission.
"My body... still feels really hot," Helcia whispered. "Should I just take off my clothes?"
Lando had already turned on the air conditioner earlier, but if Helcia still felt this warm, then something was definitely happening inside her body.
"No." He stopped her right away. He gently held her hand before she could unbutton her blouse. "Let Dr. Mina check you first."
"Why?" Helcia asked in a soft, confused voice. "It’s not like she can’t check me even if... I take off my clothes now. I just... feel so hot."
But the truth was, she felt more than just hot. Something felt terribly wrong. Her body was restless, sensitive, and she couldn’t stop pressing her thighs together no matter how hard she tried.
Why was she acting like this? Why did she feel like... someone desperate?
The thought scared her so much because she imagined all the awful things that could have happened if Kai had taken her away instead of her husband.
"What’s wrong?" Lando pulled her into his arms, holding her close as he gently rubbed her back to calm her. "Why are you crying again?"
"Shh... it’s alright," he was trying to soothed her over and over again. "You’re safe with me. I promise."
When Lando said she was safe with him, he truly meant every single word. Even though Helcia sometimes acted a little seductive without meaning to, he had never touched her in the wrong way or taken advantage of her when she was vulnerable.
All he did was sit beside her, stop her from undressing, and do his best to keep her calm.
Almost an hour later, Dr. Mina finally arrived at the mansion. The brunette woman rushed in wearing whatever she grabbed—simple clothes and even slippers—because she thought something terrible had happened to Lando.
But when she entered the bedroom, she realized the one who needed urgent help was his wife.
"Mr. Brixton, I’m sorry I couldn’t come sooner." Dr. Mina hurried inside, still trying to catch her breath.
She looked at Helcia for a moment and froze, shocked by how terrible she looked. "Did you... did you drug your wife?!"
Dr. Mina was usually gentle and polite, especially around Lando. But she wasn’t the kind of person who would stay quiet if she thought a rich man had drugged his own wife, and God knows what could happen after that.
"No, Dr. Mina. It wasn’t me." Lando rubbed the bridge of his nose in frustration. "We’ve known each other for years, how could you jump to that conclusion?"
Dr. Mina cleared her throat. "Right, but please don’t blame me, Mr. Brixton." She added, "This world is such a scary place for women."
Lando chose to ignore her earlier accusation and focused on what mattered. "Please check on my wife first," he said. "And... Please be gentle with her. She’s scared."
Dr. Mina nodded and slowly approached the bed. Her expression softened the moment she saw Helcia trembling under the blanket.
"It’s alright, Ms. Orszebet," she said gently. "I’m Dr. Mina. I’m just here to help you, okay?"
Helcia blinked weakly, her eyes unfocused. "Hot... my body feels hot..."
"I know," Dr. Mina replied as she checked Helcia’s pulse and touched her forehead lightly. "Just relax. I’m going to examine you for a moment."
Lando sat on the edge of the bed, his eyes never leaving his wife. His fingers brushed her hand in a comforting motion as he whispered, "I’m here, Helcia. I’m not going anywhere."
After a few minutes of checking her condition, Dr. Mina’s face darkened slightly. She let out a sigh before turning to Lando.
"Mr. Brixton... I think someone slipped a stimulant drug into her drink," she said. "It’s not deadly, but it explains why she feels so hot and restless."
Lando frowned. "A stimulant?"
"Yes." Dr. Mina explained, "It’s a low-dose aphrodisiac. Women who consume it will feel sensitive, easily frightened, and overwhelmed. It’s a disgusting drug used by people with very bad intentions." She added, "But to know exactly what type of drug it is, I’ll need to run a blood test in the lab."
Lando nodded stiffly, trying his best not to sprint to his brother’s house and kill him on the spot. "Then take whatever sample you need."
He paused for a moment, then asked again, his voice tight with worry, "But... can you make her feel better?"
Dr. Mina glanced at Helcia, who was still clinging to Lando’s sleeve like a frightened child.
"I can give her something to help calm her body," she said. "It won’t erase the drug completely, but it will ease the heat and stop her from feeling so scared."
She took out a small syringe and carefully filled it with a mild sedative. "This is safe. It will help her rest."
Then Dr. Mina added, her tone more serious, "But I advise you to keep watching her through the night, because sometimes... this kind of drug can also make people do strange things, like self-harm."
