Reborn to Redeem: Their Abusive Love-Chapter 130: Add more updates
The lights inside the resting cabin had gone out at some point, and the blackout curtains blocked out much of the daylight.
In the shadows, Pei Zhen’s eyes were dark. The hand holding his cigarette rested casually on the edge of the sofa. A spark glowed at its tip. A smirk touched his lips as he tossed the cigarette onto the rim of the ashtray.
He rose and walked over to the bed, bending down. His profile subtly pressed against her face as he affectionately nuzzled her, his ethereal voice warm by her ear,
"You really take me for a good person, don’t you?"
Silence persisted for a long moment.
Xu Si gently nodded as if in agreement, slowly closing her eyes. Her slender, fragile arm lay by her side, her crimson lips hidden in the softness of the covers.
Pei Zhen smiled, his silver hair falling onto her butterfly clavicles. "Sleep. I know you’re tired."
Once the breathing in the room grew steady and even, Pei Zhen rose, grabbed a black robe, draped it over his shoulders, and slowly stepped out of the resting cabin onto the suspended deck.
His silver-white hair fluttered in the sea breeze.
A black cord hung on his fair chest.
His brow was heavily knitted, conveying a shadowy sense of oppression and impatience. His eyes were narrowed, leaving only the lower half of his ash-grey pupils visible.
Hei Shi approached with a black umbrella, positioning himself behind Pei Zhen with his hands clasped behind his back. Following Pei Zhen’s gaze, they looked down at the weather.
The grey-blue sky was filled with marsh gas and cumulus clouds, their boundaries tightly intersecting. In the middle, mist had deepened the colors into a chaotic murk. This thick, lightless layer contrasted starkly with the majestic, surging sea.
Hei Shi couldn’t help but ask,
"Boss, why blow up this place? Only by capturing their researchers can we produce those drugs. According to our people’s observations, they didn’t rough up the madam."
"They’ve had the gall to touch my people. If I don’t blow them up, there’s no guarantee other strays with an equally big appetite won’t come back for seconds."
His handsome, smiling face was nonetheless suffused with a shadowy, ferocious cruelty. "Leave no one alive on this island today. These people are important death row inmates, specifically marked for death by those on the outside. Take photos of their corpses and circulate them; give their lives a perfect ending. Otherwise, they might still think the Triad Society is idle."
Hei Shi bowed his head, "Understood."
As if recalling something, Pei Zhen silently gazed into the distance. "Let’s head back. If we don’t leave now, her people will catch up. If any of them get hurt, she’ll be heartbroken."
Hei Shi raised his hand.
A massive ship’s horn sounded, pulling a rich, long note.
The huge vessel floated on the sea’s surface, slowly making its way toward the City of Sin.
Blood seeped from the corner of Pei Zhen’s mouth again, and a convulsive pain shot through his internal organs.
Hei Shi took a handkerchief from his collar and respectfully handed it over. "I’ll find a doctor."
The man raised his hand, taking the handkerchief and meticulously wiping the blood from the crevices between his fingertips. The smile in his eyes deepened, his voice hoarse and leisurely, "No need. Let it be. Otherwise, when she wakes up and finds herself well, and me too, she’ll surely kick up a fuss about leaving again."
Hei Shi remarked, "The madam dislikes the Underground City."
Pei Zhen coughed softly.
"She’s afraid. She’s always been afraid. I’m also curious as to what there is in there that’s worth her fear."
"Then you..."
Pei Zhen casually rested his long fingertips on the rail, revealing an elusive smile. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
After a long silence, his voice, light and ethereal, seemed to float.
"I’m saving her. Now, she must stay in the Underground City."
"If there’s any selfishness involved, then it’s simply to indulge my own curiosity."
He could never forget that gaze—the kind that pierced through his body to see another’s soul. It made him feel that no matter how vast or full the moon in the Underground City appeared, it was always shrouded in an eerie mist.
