Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 329: The Consequences of Taking the Wrong Medicine
Godfery Shaw’s room fell silent once again.
Godfery was silent.
In the past, Julius Shaw was just a hidden personality that only appeared when injured or in extremely special circumstances.
But with the growing entanglement between Nancy Allen and Julius, Julius’s presence became stronger, sometimes even suppressing Godfery Shaw.
When Nancy brought up the tray, Godfery was resting against the headboard with his eyes closed.
Hearing footsteps, he opened his eyes and looked at Nancy tenderly.
Nancy placed the tray on the table—a simple meal of rice, shredded pork with garlic sauce, vegetable tofu soup, and steamed egg custard.
She took a pen and paper and wrote, "I was afraid it was too late, so I made something simple."
Godfery watched Nancy writing, his gaze darkened slightly; now, whenever Nancy calmed down, she wouldn’t come over and speak.
But Godfery didn’t let Nancy notice his emotions and warmly said, "Homestyle is just fine."
He got out of bed and sat beside Nancy.
Usually, he had no appetite for the elaborate food Basil Smith prepared, but looking at these simple dishes before him, Godfery felt his appetite grow.
Nancy hadn’t had enough dinner either and now felt a bit hungry, so she ate a little with Godfery.
Actually, her head was aching terribly; her body wasn’t strong enough for her to rush back and forth like this, and after returning she had to help Godfery with everything, her shoulder was soaked yet she hadn’t had a chance to change.
After dinner, Nancy put the bowls and chopsticks back on the tray and wrote, "Okay, you have a good rest, I’ll go back now."
Since Godfery didn’t mention the bracelet, she’d pretend she knew nothing and simply make another one.
Now that Godfery was fine, it was time for her to leave.
She wasn’t yet ready in her heart to sleep in the same bed with Godfery.
Godfery looked at Nancy and said accommodatingly, "It’s so late, I’ll have the driver take you back."
He looked reluctant, like a high flower in distress, clearly hoping she wouldn’t leave, yet didn’t force it, unbelievably gentle.
The more Nancy looked at him, the softer her heart became.
Nancy had always been susceptible to kindness.
The words Hailey Smith said back then echoed in her mind: Godfery’s severe stomach issues, his inability to sleep two to three hours at night, Godfery, full of scars.
Now Godfery was so ill he fainted; if she left, he surely wouldn’t sleep well, worsening his condition.
Nancy gritted her teeth and wrote, "Never mind, it’s too late today, I won’t go back; with you sick, I’m not at ease, I’ll sleep on the sofa here."
Godfery’s eyes instantly showed clear joy, he didn’t even consider and directly agreed, "No need for the sofa, I’ll have a bed brought in."
Nancy thought Godfery would compete for the sofa with her and was ready to refuse, but to her surprise, he suggested this, so she paused and nodded.
After all, this room was big enough, even with another bed, it wouldn’t be cramped.
Godfery acted swiftly, immediately instructing Joyce to have a bed brought in.
Joyce maintained a straight face, asking nothing, and simply made arrangements.
Nancy felt uncomfortable using Godfery’s bathroom for a shower, and seeing that the bedding hadn’t arrived yet, she wrote to Godfery, "I’ll head back to my room first."
Godfery nodded.
It seemed like hearing Nancy acknowledge the room in Imperial Garden left for her as hers made him quite happy.
Nancy returned to the room she once lived in, took a shower, changed into her pajamas, and took her usual medication. Her head was throbbing, and upon reflection, she took an extra dose of cold and pain relief medicine from the emergency box.
Only then did she return to Godfery’s side.
An identical bed to Godfery’s was set up, aligned perfectly beside his.
This wasn’t two beds; it was clearly a single, overly large bed put together.
Nancy instinctively wanted to refuse, but her head throbbed intensely, seeming like she’d taken too much medicine causing drowsiness to overtake her.
She paused, climbed onto the bed, quickly pulled the covers over herself, and silently said, "Let’s sleep."
Godfery turned off the lights, and in the dark, his gentle voice came, "Good night."
Nancy soon fell asleep, and even as she slept soundly now, she would instinctively edge closer to Godfery’s presence in her dreams.
The two beds were conjoined, and as she turned over in her sleep, she unknowingly rolled to Godfery’s side, leaning against his shoulder.
She never slept soundly. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Godfery listened to the rhythm of Nancy’s breathing, gently drew her into his arms, and whispered with a sigh, "Nancy, what is it that you really want? Whatever you wish for, I’ll give you."
Although asleep, Nancy seemed to hear Godfery’s murmurs and snuggled closer to his embrace.
Godfery, also tired, held Nancy and gradually drifted off.
The next day.
Godfery woke, well-rested, and found himself pushed to the edge of the bed, with Nancy clinging to him. Their conjoined bed had a large empty space at the back; his mood lifted at this early realization, and he couldn’t help but laugh softly.
Nancy felt the motion and opened her eyes drowsily.
Upon opening her eyes, Nancy realized something was wrong; though her mind was clear, her body felt heavy.
She felt an inability to even lift a hand, sensing trouble; it was possibly due to mixing cold and pain medication with her routine pills last night with incorrect dosages, leading to side effects.
Presently, she clearly saw herself leaning in Godfery’s arms with one hand draped over the waist she’d secretly glanced at many times.
She wanted to lift her hand away, but her body was limp, incapable of mustering any strength.
"Awake?" came a lazy, magnetic voice beside her ear.
Nancy’s hand remained on Godfery’s waist; trying to move her hand failed, and instead, it seemed to brush against him, making her inwardly lament and want to cut off this disobedient hand.
How did she end up rolling over to Godfery’s side on such a vast bed, pushing him to the edge?
Nancy felt her body betrayed her mind, for even though she didn’t know how to face Godfery, choosing some distance, her honest body instinctively sought to draw near him as she slept.
Frustration made her eyes redden slightly as she softly leaned against Godfery’s chest and said, "Godfery Shaw, I mistakenly took the wrong medication yesterday; now I’m weak."
Her voice was so soft it tickled the heart.
Instantly, Godfery’s expression grew tense, and he immediately asked anxiously, "Besides your regular meds, what else did you take yesterday?"
"I had a terrible headache yesterday, so I took some cold and pain relief meds at the same time as my regular meds, with no interval between."
Hearing this, Godfery’s heart clenched.
It turned out Nancy had been ill yesterday too, yet he hadn’t noticed and even made her blow-dry his hair and cook; he felt utterly wretched!
Godfery immediately took out his phone and called Nancy’s primary doctor; when Nancy returned, Godfery ensured to obtain the doctor’s contact information for any illnesses.
After explaining the situation, the doctor on the other end lightly chastised.
"Reckless! Her body can’t afford any mistakes, and you dare take medication carelessly. Luckily this time the dosage wasn’t significant, so it isn’t a huge issue, but she must avoid taking other relieving medications and let her body’s immunity adjust and recover."
The voice from the other end was so loud Nancy could hear it clearly even without the speaker being on.
She felt utterly despondent; did this mean she had to remain limp in Godfery’s presence until she recovered?
