Chapter 945: Chapter 772: A Child’s Heart (Part 2)

"Really, already so sensible at just four years old?" Li Liang’s mother heard this and couldn’t wait to fly over and see them. Not being able to go in was quite a dilemma.

"Of course, the child is so endearing. I just wish this child could live with my family and be my grandson. Alas! Unfortunately, we don’t have such fortune." Aunt Wu said with a smile.

"Yes, hearing you say this makes me really want to meet this child. Just how obedient and sensible could he be?"

Aunt Wu laughed, "The child is on holiday now, there will surely be a chance for him to come out. When the time comes, you can see for yourself."

Li Liang was delighted upon hearing this, "Oh, that sounds wonderful."

...

Little Star and Hua Hua laughed and talked with Old Mrs. Mei for a while. Then the two children ran out into the yard to play.

Hua Hua hadn’t seen Little Star in a long time, giggling and pulling her to show his toys.

"My mom bought these for me, she bought me plenty of fun stuff. Sister Xingxing, if you like any, I’d like to give you one."

Little Star picked up a spinning top and said, "I like this, but I don’t know how to play."

"I’ll teach you, it’s so much fun. Even the kids at school envy me. I also have a little frog."

"Wow, you can take your things to school?"

"I can’t, I sneak them in." Hua Hua said bashfully, lowering his head. Though he’s well-behaved at home, he’s sometimes mischievous at school.

"Hehe," Little Star giggled, watching him play with the spinning top. Suddenly, a bright object caught her eye, she picked it up and asked, "What’s this?" Hua Hua froze and said, "These are some pretty little glass pieces I found outside. I made sure to smooth them out. Aren’t the round ones pretty?"

"Oh, they are quite pretty. I didn’t know you liked shiny things so much, but I only have one pretty one, and I gave it to you."

"Sister Xingxing, I’m sorry, but the glass shard you gave me got spotted by my mom. She asked for it and said she liked it, so she didn’t return it to me."

"Your mom is so mean, how could she take a child’s thing?" Little Star sighed and patted Hua Hua’s shoulder to comfort him, "It’s okay, next time I find one, I’ll give it to you again."

"Mom also asked me where you picked up the shiny things. But I’m not going to tell her, I’m afraid she’ll ask Sister Xingxing for them."

"Yeah, sometimes adults just like to take things from kids, they can be quite annoying, right?" Little Star nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, I’m a little man, if Mom likes it, I’ll give it to her. But that piece was from Sister Xingxing, I just don’t want to part with it."

"It’s okay, we won’t fuss with adults. Next time, I’ll pick up another one for you. Actually, the shiny thing was picked up..."

"Xingxing, come here, it’s time for some tasty food." Little Star was interrupted mid-sentence by Liang Qian, calling them back inside to eat.

Upon hearing there was delicious food, Little Star quickly took Hua Hua’s little hand, smiled, and ran over to Liang Qian’s side, "Second Aunt, I’m hungry."

"I knew you’d be hungry, so Second Aunt boiled two eggs for you both."

"Yay, I love boiled eggs. Hua Hua, do you like them?"

"I do," Hua Hua nodded obediently and went inside with Little Star.

At the Mei Family, even after the family had finished their meal, there was no sign of Ye Qing. Driver Xiao Wang returned and only said the Mistress was at the hospital with the Master, but did not mention Ye Qing’s whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Ye Qing had just come out of a bar, stumbling-drunk. Instead of returning to the Mei Family, she drove awkwardly back to the alley.

Mei Langchi knew Han Yi was injured, and hearing that his grandfather, father, and uncle had all gone to care for Han Yi, he felt a blockage in his heart. These past days, he’d been busying himself with his own affairs and hadn’t gone home.

Just when he had come from outside and hadn’t had a chance to lie down, he heard Ye Qing’s voice from outside the door.

She was crying and yelling intermittently in the yard—it was clear she was drunk.

Mei Langchi, annoyed, came out and pointed at Ye Qing, who was sitting in the yard crying.

"Ye Qing, where have you been messing around? Can’t keep up the pretense of being all virtuous anymore, huh? Showing your true colors?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"Haha..." Ye Qing laughed continuously pointing at Mei Langchi. "It’s all because of you. You never fulfill your husbandly duties. Look at other men, they consider their wives’ feelings. Why can’t you care a bit more? If you had, maybe I could’ve been pregnant with your child by now. How could I let that wench Lin Wan hold higher ground over me? Why, why does fate treat me like this?"
