Reborn: I'll Never Fail My Childhood Sweetheart Again-Chapter 303 - 128: Zhejiang University, New Era Branch Store Goals
The next afternoon.
On the university campus, in the faculty dormitory.
Su Zelin and Kang Baohong were drinking tea at Dai Chuangxing’s place.
This was the first time meeting the Vice Director and his wife since returning to school.
Previously, Kang Yulian had invited them twice for a meal, but the digital store was hit with a rush as soon as the semester started, keeping both of them too busy to make time. They finally visited once the rush subsided and the store’s sales returned to normal.
Kang Baohong was the one making the Gongfu tea.
Typically, when visiting someone’s house for tea, it’s the host’s responsibility to prepare it.
It’s both a gesture of hospitality and a display of status.
However, given the Vice Director’s status, and the fact that both Su Zelin and Kang Baohong were his juniors, it would be impolite to have someone else make the tea. Plus, after working together for so long, everyone was quite familiar with one another, so it was usually Kang Baohong who made the tea.
After all, Su Zelin was his boss, and it wouldn’t make sense for the boss to make tea for himself.
This little detail actually reveals a bit about the hierarchy of their interpersonal relationships.
What made Kang Yulian happy was that her nephew seemed to hold no grudge against her this time.
Perhaps it was the low profit-sharing that previously made Kang Baohong quite resentful towards her. During the winter holidays, he nearly skipped the New Year’s Eve dinner.
In the end, it was Dai Chuangxing who personally called him and, for the sake of his partner, he came over, though it was obvious that he wasn’t entirely willing.
But things were different now, as the nephew came with a bright smile, completely unlike the sullen face during the winter holidays.
Perhaps Baohong had come to terms with it.
People shouldn’t be too greedy!
If it weren’t for me as his aunt, would he have met Xiaosu?
Could he have become the general manager of the digital store and earned four to five thousand yuan in salary and bonuses in the first month?
Before, when he was an internet café manager, a month’s income might have only been a tenth of that!
So Kang Yulian felt content.
In her own conflicts, the Vice Director’s wife firmly believed she wasn’t in the wrong, thinking that the issue was primarily Kang Baohong’s dissatisfaction.
Yet, she was unaware that Su Zelin had promised Kang Baohong extra bonuses, and her nephew was leaning more toward his boss’s side.
Of course, Kang Baohong was wise enough not to disclose this to Kang Yulian.
If his aunt learned he was receiving bonuses, she might not give him any share, so he thought it better to secretly enjoy it.
Dai Chuangxing noticed something amiss but said nothing.
Firstly, he had no proof; secondly, he also felt that his wife’s small share for Baohong was excessive, considering he had worked so hard for the digital store. It was quite reasonable for him to get more from the boss.
While drinking tea, Su Zelin was also pondering.
The digital store was currently in the off-season, requiring less stock, which allowed for more of the profits to be invested in B shares. This could yield returns for over a month, after which his father could cash in, and he’d have around half a million in cash on hand to expand the business.
Before that, he wanted to plan ahead and find the next target, considering suitable locations for a branch to capture the first wave of computer purchases at the beginning of the next semester!
Of course, to open stores at other universities, resources are essential.
The benefits within each university campus have already been divided among the leadership, with each having their own territory. An outsider like him wouldn’t find it easy to navigate.
Dai Chuangxing was the bridge to climb onto this web of connections.
Being at this level, Vice Director Dai knew many influential leaders outside the school.
Through him, deeper networks could be explored.
With this in mind, Su Zelin spoke up, "Vice Director Dai, New Century Digital store is doing well. My uncle is quite pleased with its performance and plans to increase investment!"
Upon hearing this, Kang Baohong, who was making tea, became excited.
Su Zelin had shared this plan the night he returned to school.
So Kang Baohong knew the young boss was planning a big move.
He simply didn’t expect the move to come so quickly.
Dai Chuangxing felt a bit speechless, thinking to himself that everyone was aware of the truth: Su Zelin was that wealthy relative!
This young man was even more cautious than he was, never admitting that the digital store was his own venture.
Kang Yulian, who was cooking, also came running out of the kitchen with a spatula.
The Vice Director’s wife, with keen ears, had heard Su Zelin’s words and paid close attention to those words.
Increasing investment meant she would stand to gain more money, didn’t it?
"Xiaosu, your uncle has a good eye. With things going so well now, it’s best to strike while the iron is hot!"
Kang Yulian didn’t overthink it; she just showed support first.
Dai Chuangxing, however, furrowed his brows. Unlike his wife, who viewed things purely from a profit standpoint, he felt there were many considerations.
"The finance college has only one digital store, New Century, which is more than enough to monopolize the computer market. Is there really a need for increased investment?"
The market is only so big. Expanding wouldn’t necessarily make it larger, would it?
"The computer market at the finance college is nearly exhausted, but at other schools, it’s still untapped!"
Su Zelin smiled gently.
The young boss really intended to open a branch store!
Kang Baohong was too excited to even brew tea.
"Are you planning to open similar digital stores at other universities?"
Dai Chuangxing was a bit surprised.
This young man’s ambition seemed even greater than he’d expected.
Su Zelin replied calmly, "Since we’ve pioneered the New Century model and proven it viable at the finance college, why not replicate it and explore other universities? Currently, my biggest issue is finding a suitable college where there’s someone dependable. I wonder if Vice Director Dai has any good recommendations?"
