Chapter 77: Healing

Amelia looked at the woman in anticipation.

The curtains of the room were drawn, turning the room completely dark.

She didn’t want the lady to hurt her eye muscles when she would be using her other sensory organs, too.

The lady was in the last stage of her healing, and Amelia was hoping to see the reaction anytime.

Amelia removed the needles she had injected into her body one by one.

The lady had shown massive improvement quite early, but didn’t want to give the alpha triplets useless hopes.

"Come on, you can do it, Mrs. Camila. I know it will be painful, but you can do it. We have been working on it for three days. Please move on your own," Amelia urged the lady who thinned her lips.

"I am trying, Amelia. It’s hard," Luna Camila said as she tried to sit up alone.

Amelia looked at the lady, ready to help if the woman fell.

"If you passed this stage, you might get to attend the Lunar ball with your triplet sons, Mrs. Camila. They have been dreaming of this," Amelia encouraged Mrs. Camila.

"Uhh!" Camila took a deep breath and, with a hard push, she sat up.

However, her body gave up immediately, and she was about to fall to the side when Amelia held her in time.

"I did it," Camila said, looking at Amelia wide-eyed.

The girl smiled and nodded.

She was proud of the woman. A doctor’s treatment is one thing, but if the patient gives up on treatment, no doctor can heal that person.

Tears of happiness welled in Camilla’s eyes.

"Will I be able to walk? Can I try? We did it yesterday, too," Camila said.

Seeing the excitement in the lady’s eyes, Amelia nodded and brought the equipment she had asked the triplets to get so she could make Luna exercise a little.

After all, her body has been lying dormant for several years.

She attached the equipment to her legs and hands before helping the lady stand.

"Take one step at a time," Amelia said, supporting the lady.

Camila clenched her teeth before taking her first step.

And then another step.

And then another step.

She looked at Amelia, and the girl understood her signal.

She sighed.

Amelia didn’t want to show any progress to the triplet alphas yet, fearing the body might go into shock if Luna persisted.

However, she agreed that the triplet alphas deserved to see their mother now.

She pressed the button on the side of the desk that was placed there to call the alphas in case of an emergency.

As expected, the alphas rushed to the door and started banging.

"Amelia! What is it? What’s happening? Is something wrong? Open the door. Can you open it, or should we break it?" Ryan was the most urgent one.

Amelia sighed and supported Luna Camila on the side before walking to the door.

She opened the door and closed it behind her as she walked out, facing their urgent faces.

"What’s going on?" Aaron asked, trying to peek inside.

Amelia made a solemn face.

"Actually, I don’t think I can help Luna Camila anymore," she whispered dejectedly.

Aaron’s face twisted at her words.

"Can’t help her? What is that supposed to mean? How can you give up now? Didn’t you say she has been showing improvement? And we all saw her fingers twitching. What’s wrong?" Aaron asked one after the other.

Derrick held Aaron back, and Ryan looked at Amelia, trying to look for answers.

"I know what I said. It’s just... I don’t think I can do anything anymore," Amelia said.

"What’s bothering you? I didn’t expect you to be the one to give up on something so easily. Didn’t you say we have high hopes?" Derrick asked.

He wanted to give the girl a chance to say her part, but nothing made sense.

However, Ryan didn’t say anything; his expression turned sad and unpredictable.

He was disappointed.

"I didn’t—" Aaron started, but before he could complete his sentence, the door behind Amelia opened slowly, and they paused, gasping at the sight.

"Don’t bully my sons, Amelia," Luna Camila’s soft and weak voice came from the other side as the lady took support of the door frame and stood there.

They couldn’t believe their eyes.

Their mom was standing before them, the one they never thought would be able even to move...

Aaron’s eyes brimmed with tears, and Amelia meticulously stepped aside, staying behind Luna Camila just in case she needed any help.

"Mom," Aaron fell on his knees, supporting himself on his hands like a defeated man, but it was his contained emotions that he had been hiding for so long.

Derrick staggered back in surprise while Ryan’s gaze fixated on his mom.

He paused for a second before stepping ahead and hugging his mother.

He hugged her plenty of times when she was lying, but hugging her like this was ethereal, something he had been missing.

And once Luna Camila placed her hand on his back, he lost it.

A soft whimper left his mouth.

Aaron crawled closer to his mom and hugged her waist like a kid in too much pain.

Derrick also came forward to hug her mom, and Amelia smiled.

These were the times when she felt her healing talent was worth it.

She turned around and grabbed her bag, placing the pill container on the lady’s nightstand.

Amelia walked around the alphas and Luna, ready to leave, when someone held her hand.

She turned and saw Ryan holding her hand.

"I will drop you," he said, and then, without any warning, he pulled her close and hugged her.

"Thank you so much, Amelia," he whispered.

The hug wasn’t romantic at all. It was friendly, like a man who had lost hope in life, finally seeing a sparkle, and Amelia sighed before patting his back.

"Okay, big boy. Stop crying," She said like an elderly person, and everyone chuckled at her words.

Aaron wiped his eyes and turned to her, seeing Ryan stepping aside and scratching his head nervously.

He was about to come to her to hug her when she extended her hand.

"I still hate you," she said.

The man smiled bitterly.

Derrick didn’t even try.

"And I am a stupid playboy in your eyes. I won’t even try," He said, and Amelia nodded.

She took a deep breath before looking at the three.

"You can now hire a professional physiotherapist to help her with exercise and everything. I have placed a container of pills by her bedside. Don’t forget to take them after dinner every night. Call me if something happens. My work here is done," Amelia said.

Something inside Ryan panicked when he saw the girl turning around, ready to leave. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

He knew what her words meant. She wasn’t coming anymore, and he clenched his fists.

"Stay for dinner," he blurted out, hopeful.

Amelia turned to them briefly before shaking her head.

"Dinner is the only time I get to spend some time with my husband. I try not to miss it," she said before leaving with their beta, who would drop her off at the marketplace.

Luna Camila looked at the girl’s proud back and turned to Ryan. The knowing look on his face made her sigh.

"I didn’t know she was married," She said.

Ryan took a deep breath and shook his head.

"She is not. She is seventeen. It’s an excuse she has formed to escape from such situations. I don’t know what makes her so wary of making friends. She is polite, but she doesn’t trust anyone," Ryan said.

Luna Camila asked Aaron to help her back to bed as the exercise took a toll on her body.

"She appears to be too hurt," Luna Camila said before closing her eyes to rest.
