Reborn for Revenge: Find her Fated Alpha-Chapter 191: No one Passed
In the other room that was designed for Luna Maximine’s test, silence reigned over everything. The parchment trembled in her hands, and her heartbeat sounded too loud in her ears.
The lady looked at her nanny since her mother died and then at her father. Her eyes brimmed with tears of realization.
This wasn’t a loyalty test. It was a test to see what you can sacrifice for the throne. It wasn’t just about goodwill.
She closed her eyes before falling to her knees, her green gown pooling on the ground around her, prompting her father and nanny to rush to her side to support her.
"What’s wrong, Max? Is it something bad?" Her nanny asked, and she shook her head before hugging her nanny.
"I am sorry. I let you down. This... I can’t do it," Maximine said before she looked at the camera at the upper corner of the room resolutely.
"I quit. I won’t do it. Never," she declared.
Her words shocked her father, and he grabbed the note from her hand since she had already quit. He read the note, and his eyes flared with anger.
The guards moved inside the room and then pulled them out.
Luna Maximine was left inside the room, crying, to collect her thoughts and compose herself before appearing before the crowd.
After some time, Luna Maximine and Hannah walked to the hall before everyone. Luna Maximine looked at the blood on Hannah’s dress and the dagger that she still held with wide eyes.
Did she really go through the test? Just for the throne?
She gulped.
It was true. You can’t predict a person’s evilness just by looking at them. Wasn’t Hannah supposed to be a refined healer? How could a healer kill their own with such brutality?
Maximine looked at everyone’s expression and found it hard to believe that Amelia didn’t quit the trial because she had discovered its true nature and didn’t want to face the crowd with humiliation like they were.
Her fists clenched, and she looked straight at King Cyrus for answers.
Cyrus stood from his place and was about to speak when Amora beat him to it.
She stepped down from the balcony and walked to the throne seat near King Cyrus.
Her fingers grazed the armrest before she looked at everyone.
"We all witnessed the tests performed by the two participants, and it’s a pity that none of them passed the test," Amora said.
Her words not only shocked the onlookers but also Maximine and Hannah, who had been standing silent without an expression on their faces.
Her lips trembled at the words while Maximine looked at the former queen with rage.
"What kind of atrocious test was this? How could you expect us to kill our parents just to prove our loyalty to the kingdom? You expected me to kill an Alpha and become a betrayer of the entire pack? I wouldn’t do it even in my wildest dreams!" Maximine said.
Though she lost the test, her words won the hearts of the people around her who were already looking at Hannah with contempt.
Amora’s gaze didn’t even waver at the accusations.
"And what about her? She killed as asked, and she didn’t even pass? So killing or not killing didn’t matter. Why? What was this show for when you wanted Amelia to win?" Maximine blatantly accused, pointing fingers at Amora.
Amora took a deep breath before raising her brows.
Her former queen powers started radiating, and her eyes turned a little amber, a clear indication that her wolf was fighting for control.
Luna Maximine shrank in her place while her father rushed to stand before her.
Amora scoffed at the scene.
"I am not angry at her words. I won’t harm her. But..." She paused.
She looked at Hannah before returning her gaze to Maximine.
"Why should I be answerable to your dumb minds? When did I ask you to kill your family? The note said to kill one." Amora said.
"But there were only—" Maximine started, but Amora raised her hand to stop her from speaking.
"I am not done." She said before shaking her head.
"There was a mouse in your room. It even nipped at your feet. But you were so busy looking at the note and trying to process the shock and panic that you guys didn’t even look around your surroundings. There was a lizard, a spider, and a few ants, all placed there just for your choice. But you chose to see your parents. Is it our fault?" Amora asked, her words shocking them.
"What use is loyalty if it’s not used with the brain? You can kill or harm anyone to prove your loyalty. What is the difference between a tamed monster and you if you do so?" Amora asked.
Hannah, who had been staying silent this entire time, remembered how she had killed her mother and screamed.
"You did this! How could you! Because of you, my mother is dead!" Hannah rushed straight to Amora with the dagger raised in her hand.
No one stopped her until she reached the last step, and as soon as she did that, Cyrus pulled out his sword and placed it straight on her neck.
"If I were you, I would think twice." Cyrus’s voice was deep and rough; his insides were already worked up about Amelia’s whereabouts.
Hannah looked at his cold blue eyes and gave up, falling on her knees before the guards dragged her away.
Luna Maximine remembered seeing everything in that room, but she had ignored it, and now she couldn’t help but shake her head.
With a defeated sigh, she accepted her defeat and publicly apologized to Amora for jumping to conclusions, still grateful that she didn’t choose to harm her family.
As soon as the results were announced, Amora turned around, ready to leave, when Rosaline stepped down.
"I wonder if Amelia had gone through the test and who you would have put to test her," Rosaline asked.
Amora nodded.
"I would’ve placed myself in that room," she said, leaving a shocked Rosaline behind before she left.
Amora asked her secretary and Grayson’s secretary to track Amelia’s phone through the tapping device.
They had indeed tapped every participant’s phone, but their calls weren’t being monitored. It was just to ensure they were inside the premises.
Once she got the locations of the forests, she didn’t waste a single second and asked the driver to take her there.
As hard as she had been on Amelia, she knew one thing for sure. That girl was madly in love with her grandson and wouldn’t give up on the trials just like that.
Something must’ve happened that compelled her to quit. She had seen the fire in her eyes when she said she would win. It wasn’t a joke.
Amora looked at her phone and took a deep breath, hoping to reach in time before anything happened to her because if something did, she wouldn’t be able to answer Cyrus or Grayson.
