Kaden panted as the system notifications started flooding his vision. Several emotions still swirled within him but he no longer had the strength to care about any of them.
His eyes became blurry and his body felt weak. All of a sudden, the overwhelming power flooding his system was no longer there. His knees buckled beneath him, his body trembling. His muscles burned, his bones ached, and his spirit wavered.
The fire that had blazed within him, the fury that had ignited his soul, the strength that had made him feel invincible—it was all gone, leaving behind nothing but exhaustion, pain, and emptiness.
His vision blurred, his head spinning as he struggled to stay upright, his chest heaving, his breath coming in ragged gasps. The Bone Pit seemed to close in around him, and the jagged stone walls towered over him.
He swayed as he fell onto the ground without anything left inside him any longer.
Two days later, a cold prickling sensation jolted Kaden awake. His eyes flew open, his body jerking as he felt tiny legs skittering over his skin.

Panic seized him as he realized his entire body was covered in spiders. Hundreds of them—black, shiny, and crawling all over him. They moved over his arms, his legs, his face, their tiny legs prickling his flesh, their bodies writhing as they swarmed him.
"Fuck!" he screamed, his voice echoing through the Bone Pit, his body convulsing as he scrambled to his feet.
His hands moved frantically, swatting at the spiders, clawing at his skin, ripping at his clothes. He could feel them crawling through his hair, over his neck, down his back. His heart raced, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he tore at himself, trying to get them off.
They scattered as he thrashed, some falling to the ground, others crushed beneath his fingers. Finally, a few seconds later he was rid of the damned pests. Fuck! Did they think he was dead or what?! Wait, where the hell was he?
He looked around wildly, his eyes darting from shadow to shadow, his chest heaving as he tried to make sense of where he was.
And then it all came crashing. The Bone Pit, the fight, and the motherfucking dragon!
The Bone Pit was still there, the jagged stone walls towering around him, the mist swirling through the air, the shadows coiling through the ruins.
It was probably because of this miasmic mist that the other predators in the area didn’t realize that the tiger was dead and practically left him alone even though he was unconscious for…
Kaden willed the system screen to open and did a double-take when he saw the date. Two days! He had been lying here for two whole days!
His gaze fell on the carnage around him.
He swallowed nervously, his mouth dry as the memories flooded back, replaying in his mind, the images flashing before his eyes. The dragon. The fight. The power. The blood. The death. His hands shook, his chest tightening as he remembered the rage, the fury, the madness.
Did it all really happen? Did he really do that? Was it all real?
His knees buckled, his body trembling as he sank to the ground, his eyes wide with shock, his breath coming in shallow, ragged gasps. He looked at his hands, his fingers stained with blood, his skin covered in cuts and bruises. His body ached, his muscles burning, his bones rattling.
The shattered bones of the Gloomfang Tiger lay scattered across the ground, broken ribs, shattered claws, and a fractured skull. The blood of the dragon stained the stone floor. The ground was littered with the remnants of his battle, dragon scales, and chunks of dragon flesh.
It was raining dragon body parts. Chunks of the bloody beast were everywhere. Maybe it was dead after all? He summoned his system screen notifications and scanned through them furiously one after the other.
He saw the kill notification about the tiger. He had even gained four levels from it despite the nerf he had when leveling up. He had also gained a title. There were some quest complete notifications.
The tiger was a D-grade and the kill had taken care of some of his quests for him.
But Kaden was not satisfied. He searched and searched. Yet, he couldn’t find the single notification that he wanted the most.
That fucking dragon was still alive!
