Chapter 45: The Wedding (Part-1)

The Auspicious time of the day had arrived.

Under the accompaniment of jubilant music, Zora slowly stepped out of Zora’s Manor, surrounded by attendants.

The moment she lifted her gaze, she saw him.

Prince Kael sat tall upon a fine steed clad in red armor and robes. His usually made and gentle face was now illuminated by a dazzling smile, as radiant as the blazing sun, instantly drawing every gaze in the street toward him.

For a fleeting moment, Zora’s heart stirred strangely.

For an instant, it felt less like a political marriage and more like being welcomed by the man she loved.

Prince Kael was equally dazed.

He had already imagined many times how his bride would look in red bridal attire.

Yet no image he had ever conjured came even close to what stood before him now.

Gone was the quiet elegance she wore on ordinary days. Today, she was breathtaking, alluring, every smile capable of drawing souls into its depths.

For the first time, he truly felt that a bride should look exactly like this.

Their gazes met across the crowd.

Both smiled.

No words were spoken, yet everything was understood.

With the noise of blessings filling the air, Zora stepped into the bridal carriage. The wedding procession slowly made its way toward the royal residence in a brilliant sea of red.

At Prince Kael’s Manor, the atmosphere had already reached its peak.

Noble guests filled the hall, wine cups clinked endlessly, laughter and conversation weaving together.

"I heard it was Prince Kael himself who insisted on this marriage. Looks like he couldn’t wait to bring Zora back as his wife!"

"Hahaha, with such beauty, which man wouldn’t be anxious? Didn’t everyone see how Prince Philip changed for her alone?"

"Shh! That name shouldn’t be mentioned now." Someone hastily lowered his voice.

After today, Zora would be a princess. Mentioning her past entanglements was a fatal taboo.

The speaker laughed awkwardly. "Do you think the people from the General’s Residence will show up today? After all this, they’ve lost quite a bit of face."

"The emperor himself will attend. No matter how unwilling they are, they’ll have to come."

"Still, Zora has gone a little too far this time. That is still her father, after all."

Another guest sneered lightly. "In my opinion, she’s only returning what she once suffered. How the General’s Residence treated her back then... everyone in the Imperial City knows."

The guests exchanged glances, each harboring different thoughts.

Yet they all agreed on one thing.

This wedding was no ordinary celebration.

The former crown-prince-to-be had been discarded. The once despised daughter had married into royalty instead. The General’s Residence had been left completely out of the picture.

Just thinking about this chain of events made the onlookers feel that this wedding was nothing short of spectacular.

In the eyes of most people, Zora choosing to marry from Zora’s Manor was a public slap across the face of the General’s Residence.

Whether she could cultivate or not, she was still General Helius’s daughter. Yet for more than a decade, he had treated her as though she were nothing. Favoring one daughter while trampling another into the mud... how could that not freeze a child’s heart?

The firecrackers roared into the sky, echoing across the streets.

Excitement gleamed in everyone’s eyes.

The bride had arrived!

Guided by the wedding procession, Prince Kael and Zora entered the main hall hand in hand. Two figures dressed in blazing red instantly drew every gaze in the hall.

Yet the moment people saw the wheelchair beneath Prince Kael, many couldn’t help but feel a sting of regret.

Such a peerless man... and yet disabled.

If not for that, this truly would have been a match made by heaven.

Just as the murmurs rose, a sharp, powerful announcement sounded through the hall:

"The Emperor has arrived!"

Everyone turned pale with shock and immediately bowed.

The Emperor attending in person was the highest possible honor for this wedding!

Emperor Alexander laughed heartily as he stepped forward. "Everyone, rise. Today is a joyful day for the Prince and Princess. Let us all celebrate freely!"

"Thank you, Your Majesty!"

Prime Minister Henry was in exceptionally high spirits.

Today’s wedding was destined to strip General Helius of every shred of dignity. The bride was married from outside the General’s Residence, and the emperor himself was presiding.

If General Helius failed to appear now, that single act alone would be enough to bury him politically.

Yet as Prime Minister Henry lifted his gaze, his smile stiffened.

The entire House Phoenix followed closely behind the emperor.

His pupils contracted. "I didn’t expect General Helius to arrive alongside His Majesty," Prime Minister Henry said slowly.

Emperor Alexander laughed lightly. "I happened to run into him outside the Prince’s Residence. So we came together."

Prime Minister Henry secretly clicked his tongue.

General Helius really had luck on his side.

General Helius, in turn, met Prime Minister Henry’s gaze with cold composure. Having lived half a lifetime in court, he knew exactly what that man had been plotting earlier.

But now that the emperor was present, Prime Minister Henry no longer dared to stir up trouble openly.

"Since everyone has arrived," Emperor Alexander said calmly as he took his seat at the highest position, "let the wedding ceremony begin!"

Only then did the crowd truly shift its attention back to the newlyweds.

Earlier, everyone had been distracted by the emperor’s arrival and had not taken a careful look at the bride.

Now, when their eyes finally fell on Zora—

A collective gasp rippled through the hall.

Stunning.

Absolutely stunning.

Previously, they had only heard rumors of her beauty. Seeing her now, they realized that all descriptions were inadequate.

Prince Kael had always been hailed as the most handsome man in the Imperial City. Any beauty standing beside him usually faded into the background.

Yet today—Zora stood beside him without losing even a fraction of her radiance.

Instead, the two of them together formed a perfect picture, as though carved from the same destiny.

"Heavens, she’s even more beautiful than the rumors!"

"So this is the real first beauty of the Imperial City..."

"Scarlett calling herself the first beauty now sounds like a joke."

"If I could marry someone like this, I’d willingly give up ten years of my life!"

Praise poured endlessly through the hall.

Among the guests were many who had once been treated by Zora at the Origin Medical Hall. Others were young cultivators who had benefited from the medicinal Potions she sold.

Gratitude mixed with admiration.

Yet amid the celebration—

General Helius’s face remained heavy, his fingers tightening in his sleeves as he stared at the radiant bride standing proudly before the entire Imperial City.

And for the first time, a question he had never dared to face rose sharply in his heart:

Had he... truly lost the most valuable thing in his life?
