Chapter 179: The Aftermath

"Don’t forget to deliver my reputation compensation together with your master tomorrow."

Morgana froze mid-step.

Her hands clenched tightly beneath her sleeves, nails digging into her palms. In the end, she didn’t turn around. She simply quickened her pace and disappeared from sight.

After she left, only Clarissa, Silvan, and Adrian remained on the high platform.

Zora lifted her chin slightly, her gaze icy and sharp as it swept over the three of them. The faint smile on her lips carried unmistakable mockery.

Clarissa and the others felt as though they were sitting on pins and needles. If the Vice-Principal weren’t still present, they would have fled long ago.

With no other choice, they swallowed their pride.

"Sorry."

The three spoke in unison, though the resentment burning in their eyes was impossible to hide.

This time, they had truly fallen hard. Next time, they swore, they would never let Zora off so easily.

As if reading their thoughts, Zora spoke again, her tone calm but cutting.

"If you want to deal with me in the future, at least use your brains. This kind of trick is far too low-level."

That single sentence nearly made Clarissa and the others spit blood.

They had already lost face thoroughly, and now she was trampling it underfoot without mercy.

Yet despite their fury, they couldn’t find a single word to refute her.

Only Gabriel, hidden among the crowd, felt his chest tighten with suffocating frustration.

Had he truly failed to harm Zora at all?

Was it possible that her medicinal potion had actually been effective?

Watching Zora stand there, righteous and unshaken, he felt a surge of bitterness so strong it made his vision blur.

In the end, Clarissa and the others left amid the crowd’s scornful gazes. Gradually, the Morning Square returned to its usual calm.

Excitement and satisfaction lingered on everyone’s faces. Today’s spectacle had far exceeded their expectations.

Zora turned toward Gerrad, clasped her hands politely, and bowed slightly.

"Thank you, Vice-Principal, for handling today’s matter."

Gerrad waved his hand, a helpless smile tugging at his lips. "I merely upheld the truth."

The farce finally drew its curtain, yet long after it ended, the ripples refused to fade.

Clusters of students lingered around the Morning Square, voices overlapping as they relived every twist of the spectacle.

By this single incident alone, Morgana, Clarissa, and their companions had been stripped bare. Whatever glossy masks they once wore were now shattered beyond repair, their reputations sinking straight to the bottom.

After expressing her thanks to Alistair, Zora returned to the special enrollment dormitory together with Prince Kael and the others.

Even Raphael and his group were still quietly marveling at the outcome.

Originally, this storm should have ruined Zora’s name beyond recovery. No one expected her to reverse the situation so cleanly, rewriting the ending with her own hands and leaving Clarissa and her allies humiliated and exposed.

Such a dramatic turnaround was rare, even by academy standards.

"Today’s trouble involved all of you. Thank you."

Zora smiled gently, her tone sincere as she spoke to Raphael and the others.

Through this incident, she could clearly see that Alaric Von Seraph and the rest had stood by her without hesitation. This was not a debt she would forget.

Raphael glanced briefly at Prince Kael. After what had happened earlier, the air between them was still awkward. Lingering any longer would only make things more uncomfortable.

Alaric Von Seraph understood at once and rose together with Raphael and the others, heading upstairs.

Reesa was grinning from ear to ear.

"Haha, today was way too satisfying! Did you see Clarissa’s face? It nearly collapsed."

Women cultivators were often more direct than ordinary women, but someone as refreshingly straightforward as Reesa was truly rare.

Baldwin watched her, a spark of admiration flickering in his eyes. An unfamiliar emotion quietly spread in his chest.

"Reesa, thank you for today." Zora held Reesa’s hand, her voice turning soft.

Standing by someone without reservation was not something many could do, even among close friends. That was why she cherished this bond so deeply.

Reesa blinked mischievously, flashing a bright grin as she linked her arms with Zora. "Don’t get polite with me, sis! They deserved every bit of it!"

**

Night descended slowly.

Moonlight poured down like frost, bathing the ground in a cool, silvery glow.

Zora stood by the window, the pale light outlining her slender figure. Her dark eyes shimmered like stars, but beneath that calm, a chill was quietly gathering.

Today, she had clearly seen it.

The killing intent in Cassian’s eyes had been real.

She firmly believes that this matter is far from over.

With Cassian’s status and influence, today’s humiliation would only push him toward reckless action. He would not swallow this loss quietly.

And she, in turn, felt nothing but disgust toward him.

The night was deep, and the wind seemed sharp. A perfect night for bloodshed if there is one.

When darkness thickened further, it would be time to settle accounts.

"Master, do you think Cassian will send people after you tonight?"

Black sat on Zora’s shoulder, little legs swinging as it asked casually.

Her red lips curved into a faint, mocking smile as she shook her head.

"That old fox is panicking right now. He’s too busy scrambling to salvage his reputation. If he wants to move against me, it won’t be tonight. Tomorrow at the earliest."

And just as she predicted...

At that very moment, Cassian was pacing furiously inside his residence, his expression dark and twisted. Morgana stood nearby, pale and trembling, not daring to utter a single word.

Just as Zora was calculating that it was about time to move against Cassian, White’s curious voice suddenly rang out.

"Eh? Why did Prince Kael go out?"

There was a glimmer of curiosity in White’s eyes as it asked. Over the past few days, Prince Kael had barely stepped outside at all.

Zora raised her brows slightly at that. "Would he..." A flicker of thought passed through her dark, lucid eyes. A guess formed in her mind, but without seeing it with her own eyes, she could not be completely certain.

"Master, when are we leaving?" Black asked impatiently.

That old man Cassian was getting more irritating by the moment. Black wished nothing more than to deal with him as soon as possible.

Zora’s red lips curved into a playful smile. "Since you’re in such a hurry, let’s go now."

"Great!" Black cheered, its eyes lighting up.

Shihtzu, still clutching a purple demon crystal in its furry paws, perked up happily as well. Zora reached out and rubbed its head before pushing the door open and heading out of the academy.

If one had to name the most dejected person after today’s events, Gabriel would undoubtedly top the list.

At the same time, there was also a trace of reluctant relief in his heart. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

If he himself had confronted Zora earlier instead of letting Clarissa and the others take the lead, then today, the one humiliated in the Morning Square would have included him as well.

At least his face was temporarily saved.

But the matter of that damned laxative still gnawed at him like a thorn.

He didn’t even know how to explain it, let alone dare to approach Percival Ragnar again.

"I really didn’t expect Zora to be this formidable," Clarissa then said bitterly, resentment etched across her face. "Our plan was flawless, yet she still shattered it completely."

"Who could’ve guessed she’d give the Elixir of Tranquility to Alaric Von Seraph and the others to take?" Silvan sighed heavily. "If not for that, no one would’ve been able to prove we were framing her."

Hearing this, Gabriel’s mood darkened even further.

Where did that leave him?

Didn’t he count as someone who had taken Zora’s laxative medicine, too?

But he couldn’t say a word.

He couldn’t bring himself to admit that his strength had dropped, nor could he accept becoming the object of everyone’s scrutiny.

So he swallowed the bitterness alone.

Just as Gabriel was pondering his next move, Adrian, who had been sent out to gather information, hurried back.

"Brother Gabriel, there’s good news!" Adrian’s face was lit with excitement, his expression brimming with triumph as he looked at Gabriel.

Gabriel frowned deeply. Good news? At a time like this?

If he couldn’t clean up this mess, his only option would be to flee back to the imperial city. At least there, Percival Ragnar wouldn’t dare move openly against him.

"What good news?" Clarissa asked quickly.
