Reborn as the Failed Lord with my Resource Gathering System.-Chapter 242: A leader of all workers.
"Lord Dorian, you’re awake!"
"How are you doing, My Lord?"
"Hah! It’s really him! Someone pinch me!"
More and more workers slowly began to form a gradual circle around Dorian, smiles and joy etched on their faces as they spoke over one another.
But none of the joy they had on their faces could rival the look Dorian had on his.
Many of the workers had stopped what they were doing and were now looking toward his location, each more excited than the last.
Then finally, he spotted them. His two wives were at the other end of the field, barely noticing he had already arrived.
At least, not until the split second where their eyes met.
Immediately, as Seraphina saw Dorian, she tapped Ishtar by the shoulder, quickly calling her attention before taking off toward him.
’Wow, Maria was right. They really are here.’
Dorian thought in his mind, feeling a swell of warmth in his chest.
No matter how hard he tried to deviate from the excitement he was feeling, he couldn’t.
If his team was able to build something as complex as this without his supervision, then his plan for retirement was even closer than he expected.
About to take a single step forward, still holding Maria’s hand and waving to the other workers greeting him from all directions, a man suddenly stopped right in front of him.
This man, in particular, was the assistant leader of the Aurelian project team, second only to Gatty, the first leader.
He had a long brown beard and wore a thick jean jacket, tight enough to highlight his huge muscles.
Dorian was forced to stop in his tracks, watching as the man was quick to stretch piles of paperwork toward him.
"Good evening, My Lord. I hope the night greets you well."
"J-James, how are you doing?" Dorian chose to engage in the conversation, seeing as Seraphina and Ishtar were already heading toward him anyway.
"I am doing fine, My Grace. Please, take a look at this and tell us if it’s worth the change or shall we just go with the original design?"
Being the good leader that he was, Dorian didn’t hesitate. He took the paper from him and began to check every page, even while holding Maria by the hand and not letting go.
Actually, the only reason Maria was so silent was mainly because she was too occupied trying to enjoy every moment that her husband used to hold her hand like a child.
It took Dorian some time to find the issue with the blueprint. Upon doing so, he proceeded to explain it to the assistant, showing him where changes could be made in order to reduce the product cost and improve efficiency.
In that same moment, his other two wives had already closed the distance and were now standing close to him.
While Seraphina didn’t waste any time hugging him from the back, Ishtar stood at the side, stylishly hinting at James to walk away and not ask any more questions that would take up Dorian’s time.
Eventually, out of fear of Ishtar, James indeed went on with what Dorian had told him, fully ready to carry out the task as ordered.
With the man gone, Seraphina took the chance to hug him properly, her arms wrapping tightly around him with no issue.
"Darling~ You’re awake!"
Her voice rang out through the entire area.
Those who were watching from afar blushed. Thanks to the bonfire lit up near them as a source of light, they could fully see whatever was happening there.
"You woke up earlier than I anticipated, Husband. You were supposed to be asleep for another two days or so," Ishtar added, her finger tracing the edges of his shoulder.
"I know, but I couldn’t stand the thought of sleeping while my people are working so hard." Dorian chuckled, turning slightly in Seraphina’s embrace to face both her and Ishtar more directly.
He gently placed a kiss on Seraphina’s forehead before reaching out and taking Ishtar’s hand.
"Besides, I missed my wives too much to sleep through another sunrise."
Ishtar’s usually composed expression softened, a subtle, genuine smile gracing her lips.
"Liar. You missed checking on your project." She squeezed his hand lightly. "But we missed you too, My Lord."
Seraphina pulled back just enough to look him in the eyes, her expression a mix of relief and adoration.
"Don’t tease him, Ishtar. We were both worried sick. Next time, try not to collapse from overwork, alright?"
Dorian laughed, a rich, deep sound that echoed softly in the early morning air.
"I promise. Although seeing how well James and the team managed the Aurelian project without my constant oversight, maybe I don’t need to worry quite as much. They’re ahead of schedule, aren’t they?"
Ishtar nodded, her gaze sweeping over the massive, partially built structure dominating the construction field.
"They are. Gatty sent a bird report a while ago. They managed a breakthrough with the alloy mixture—it’s stronger and lighter than projected. Your little vacation might have actually boosted morale, strange as that sounds."
Maria, who had been contentedly leaning against Dorian’s leg while watching the exchange, finally piped up, tugging on his hand.
"Are we going to be here for long?"
Dorian looked to her, his hand immediately pressing on her silver hair, watching as she closed her eyes to enjoy his pat.
In truth, perhaps it was due to the fact that she was pregnant, but Maria was far cuter and more childlike these days.
"Unfortunately so. We might have to do another all-nighter."
His response caused Seraphina and Ishtar’s faces to turn purple, scared at the fact they were going to go for another day.
After all, they had already spent an entire day on the site already.
How they were still standing and energized was a complete mystery to them.
They could only assume it was also part of Dorian’s influence.
Which was true, considering the title [Boss of Men] was still very much active.
As long as the title was active, his workers would never be tired, turning them into a force to be reckoned with—robots willing to carry out their task even if it took them hundreds of years.
